  • The start of the rebuild! 1960 Ducati 200 Elite (part 1) - Back to Classics
(This video is the first of the Rebuild Series where we will take you along with the process of rebuilding different motorcycles.)
In this episode of Back to Classics:
Harné is starting the rebuild of the 1960 Ducati 200 Elite, where he will completely strip the engine down until its last screws and bolts.
During this process, Harné is searching for the problems in this engine. He is inspecting everything and comparing it with what it should be. In case it's not, he'll make sure it gets fixed!
Finally, Harné has found the problems and is now going to have a chat with the owner of this beautiful machine.
Thanks for watching this episode and see you soon at Back to Classics!

Thank you for this! I have three NC: 250 Scrambler, Diana MkIII (I think), and a 350 Sebring. I've used both the Diana and Sebring for daily transportation and put a quite a few miles on them. I've found them to be very reliable and great fun to ride. Regarding the kickstarters, the bikes are so light that I often push-start them to reduce the possibility of ruining the mechanism, and the Sebring's compression release makes for easy starting. I'm still running the original carb on the Diana but put a Mikuni on the Sebring, which dramatically improved its performance. I also have a spare 350 engine which I want to put in the Scrambler.

I had one of these when they were current. A cracking little bike let down by cheap nasty electrics. A few upgrades make a world of difference.

Wonderful to be able to look over the shoulder of an expert for once. Even for non-experts, the errors that were found and how they can be corrected are explained in a very nice and understandable way. You can look forward to the second part to see the completion of one of the most beautiful Ducati single cylinders.

This is great. It highlights the difference between an experienced specialist with good knowledge of the bike in question and a good workshop, and the 'enthusiastic amateur' who's as likely to cause additional damage as he is to remedy the damage found. - assuming he is able to identify the right corrective action at all.

This series will be interesting as I have 175 and 200 cc models. Have been collecting parts for many years. Have not rebuilt any of the very early motors. Only the later 250 and 350 bikes. I look forward to seeing the progress

Awesome videos and production quality. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this and showcasing you knowledge. I remember hearing you ask in a video for ideas people might like to see in future videos. I was thinking about this and I'd be interested in seeing the process that you use to measure and manufacture new parts (like the gear in the 200 elite starter mechanism). I'd watch anything, though. Also, it would be good to hear more about differences between the models and years, for example it was fascinating to hear about the differences between the fairings on square and round case 750ss. Thanks again for the videos, and I'm looking forward to some new ones.

Mooie video heren !

Umm. Brings back memories of restoring a 350 desmo. Nickle plated frame, tomasellis, nice bikes. Do you do bultacos?.
