I hand ported and polished the upper and lower plenum. I nearly removed 1/16 of an inch from all the flat surfaces. The Throttle tunnel and 6 intakes was widened and polished. The 6 nostrils were thin out extensively and reshaped for better air flow. I did not cut any supports just thinned and polished. Bottom Line: Seat of the Pants Dyno says better Rev Up to Red Line. This is something that takes a lot of time and patience. You will be rewarded by your hard work.

Remove the material slowly with the different tools. Make sure you don't mar the mating surfaces otherwise you will create a vacuum leak. Being OCD will help you in doing a miticulas job. Expect to spend more than 5 hours if you want professional results. This is something you can't rush.

2 stacked spacers would give you high end with drivability issues in the low end, goal isn’t just volume but where the volume goes and eliminating volume where it isn’t needed for better throttle response, the oem upper plenum is not perfect but it’s improving on a piece all of our cars have already

Joe, I really liked what you did with the upper plenum. I did something similar without taking off the posts. I also did the lower plenum in reshaping the horns and making them much thinner. Do yourself a favor when you do the rear main, lower the upper oil pan for an easy install. ;)
I plan on taking a spare upper plenum to school (i'm in welding) and welding a 3.25" elbow onto it. But cast aluminum is a different beast, it would need thorough cleaning with Tig rig to burn out impurities & porosity. But I'm seeing a lot of companies cutting those 4 outer bolt sections out, and welding in flat metal, so it seems like it shouldn't be too difficult.

Love your car! Love the channel but this is my experience and thought about a vq35de. I put 1320 catless test pipes, z1 ram intake truhart all around, full exhaust i don't remember the name but it's a smooth high rise upper plenum and uprev lower it was a uprev motor and I didn't make more than 30hp more than stock. It was tuned by SOHO Motorsports in NC they are local to me. They gave it all it had it made 270 crank!!!! I was absolutely fed up with it. I spend around 8k in the car from proformace and looks vq35de motors are reliable as they get but you will NEVER make power without going all in and spending at LEAST 13k for a turbo setup and supporting mods! And all that motor will hold is 400! You will need to spend around 35k to make 600 and it keeps climbing That's a FACT!

Hi, I also have an 06 G35 sedan like the one in my profile picture, and it sounds to me like you have a engine sensor issue. Did you scan the computer with an OBD scanner? If not, or you don't have one, most auto parts stores like Advance Auto and O' Reillys will usually scan your car for free. It sounds like it is either a crankshaft position sensor or one of the camshaft sensors. I know because my G35 sedan has literally turned off while driving before b/c one of the cam sensors was on its way out. I also had slip, vdc and a check engine light from the cam and crank sensor issue. I hope this helps :)

No, you can't put an HR plenum on a DE. The HR plenum is similar (if not the same) to the VHR plenum on the VQ37 motor. It has 2 intake holes, one on each side and is made of plastic. It would not bolt up at all.
