  • Watch the sixth episode of the series, The Quest for Answers: Looking for the First Followers of Christ in Turkey. In this sixth show, we visit the city of Sart, the ancient Sardis.
Sardis is the fifth city that received one of the 7 messages to the churches described in Revelation. Founded about 1200 B.C., Sardis was one of the oldest cities in Asia Minor. In the sixth century, BC Sardis was one of the most powerful cities of the ancient world. Yet by the Roman period, it had declined to the point that the archaeologist Sir William Ramsay could describe it as “a relic of the period of barbaric warfare, which lived rather on its ancient prestige than on its suitability to present conditions.”

L y d i a or Sfarda...written in the Lydian script. Sard(is)sounds a bit like S(f)arda. Lydian was an indo-european anatolian language. Maybe the language of Troy was similar. Anatolia today has over 400 archeological sites. Göbekli Tepe has about 9000 years. Pinarbaşi has 16K years. History of the Anatolian lands goes back millennia and more millenia. Civisation came to Greece from Anatolia.

So the demise of sardis is what we are experiencing today in America. The faith in God in people is not strong enough?

    2:37 Refers:
''Roman theaters and stadiums as well as an exceptionally large temple dedicated to Artemis''.
But Artemis was not a Roman goddess. Βy whom was this temple built?

Well at least this video goes into a bit more than just the Christian history, which only forms a very small part of this places' history. And hardly the most interesting. So the first 7 minutes were actually interesting. After that.. pffff.

Summer heat, the sky looks dead,
in my eyes, in disguises no one knows,
lies the face of the sun,
call my name, and I'll hear you scream again.
In your youth you pray to keep,
    Black Hole Sun,
    won't you come?
