@@stranger5088 of course we don't 😂 This what happens when someone develops a taste for high end guitars but doesn't want to lie, or shit on, decent mid-grade guitars
Schecter just makes good guitars. The C1 series is so good. I have a C1 classic that I absolutely love along with a C1 SLS Elite and a PT Blackjack....all excellent guitars. They play and sound as good as my American Fenders, MIK Gretsch and Godin guitars. Hard to beat a used Schecter that's been well cared for for your hard earned 💵.
I’m a huge Schecter fan, I’ve purchased 4 custom shop models (wembley, pt etc) and they’ve been doing 14” radius LONG before kiesel... they’re quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail across their entire range is as good as if not better than their competitors
That is one sweet looking guitar. Then you played it and I dig all the tones it has. Definitely on the "Get One List" . Thanks Phil for sharing another Schecter that looks like it carries on the quality and craftsmanship I expect from Schecter regardless of where it's made.
I bought a C-1 hybrid a few months ago and it is a fantastic guitar. Schecter has great thin necks and the fit and finish is always top notch. I really like the brand. They offer a lot of bang for the buck and I really like the attention to detail.
Fantastic review Phil. Perhaps a perfect all-purpose guitar? I'm a rock and metal guy, but I do love a bit of funk, jazz and blues, and I can't get over how good this guitar sounds clean. I realize most any guitar can play virtually any genre, but there always seems to be certain area's where most guitars do less well. This guitar seems to be capable of pulling off any style WELL...anything from country to metal, all for under $800. Me wanty!
Love Schecter guitars, and that's a nice one. But I'm not crazy about the volume knob placement. A little to close to the bridge (pickup... ) for my comfort
Schecter int'l version of a Kiesel 💯 $799 price point is great. I play Kiesel but Ibanez and Schecter are the best bang for your buck imo especially under $1000(non American) *this guitar spec'd out is an easy $2500 from Kiesel. Kiesel Crescent C6 w/Gotoh 510 is $1699 stock, $200-250 for the 5pc neck(more for roasted, maybe $500?), spalted maple top is $400(I think), mahogany body upgrade is $50*
Seems like almost the perfect gigging guitar--pretty to look at, but lots of tonal versatility. Really cuts through, too, so you would be heard. The only thing it needs is a gig bag....
I don't mind paying for a gig bag or case after the fact if they put the money into the build which Schecter always does! Cases and gig bag from mfg's are disappearing which I don't mind actually. I like planning and getting what I want versus what I used to get. I understand your comment but it's becoming the market norm.
I bought one of these and swapped out the pickups for Seymour Duncan P-Rail combos with triple shot controls. So since I didn’t need the coil split toggle anymore, I had that removed and put a kill switch in it’s place. So now it can do just about anything, and all for around $1k all in. I love it! Great value.

I wondered the same thing about a lot of guitars too. Maybe it's just preference? For example, I don't quite like most of the necks on Schecters. Their 7 strings have the 26.5 scale, which is too long for me. I find the ibanez AZ 7 string feel the best in my hands. That being said, one of my dream guitars is a Japan exclusive Schecter. It's tele copy that is the signature guitar for TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (you may know him for the song Unravel)
I own a Schecter Reaper 6 and I love it! It looks beautiful with it’s swamp ash body and popular Burl top. It sounds great too and plays great. You can’t really beat Schecters for the money
I love Schecter guitars, at least in terms of specs and quality vs price, but I don't usually like the looks of their guitars. This one is getting there since I like natural looking finishes. The tones are great. Pd: the Carmina Burana bit with gain sounded fire

I'm a big fan of coil split sounds in general. Love my PRS SE and S2's coil split tones. Even more so than my Fender Strat's single coil bridge tone tbh!
I bought this guitar after this excellent review- thank you and I too love it- the only complaint on mine is the frets stick out a bit too much and I should get them professionally sanded down- but the looks are fantastic the neck is perfect the action is low and feels good sitting or standing. Thanks for the review and I dont think many of these are left.
I hear nothing but bad things about Kiesels customer service and their problems. Kind of off putting. I have a Carvin myself and don’t think I could pull the trigger on a Kiesel.
Yeah for years I wanted a kiesel... But it seems like if there's any issue with the guitar you buy they'll act inconvenienced as if it's unreasonable for you to want it fixed. Jeff also seems like a douche so that doesn't help...
Since you’ve done the import price range lists, I’d love to see you do a high tier import list, or even a couple reviews. Namely, ESP. Not talking about LTD, or even ESP USA custom shop. I’m talking about made in the Japanese factory ESP. I don’t believe I’ve seen you review one before. I have a 97 MIJ ESP Viper and it’s absolutely amazing. I like it more than any Gibson SG I’ve ever owned. If you look on eBay you can find them shipped from Japan. Or you can use a proxy service to purchase and ship. I think it would make for an interesting comparison video vs a Gibson. By the way, my Viper features a bolt on neck and ESP Japan still makes them that way, in addition to a neck through. If you do go through a proxy, it would also be interesting to hear about the experience. It could open up a whole different world of guitar buying for your followers.
I owned 2 Schecter C-1+ and 1 Schecter Solo 6 Radiation. I loved all 3 guitars. They sounded excellent, looked beautiful and were all from Korea. I liked being able to get my thumb around the rounded neck carve nicely but as a result of the small necks, my hand felt cramped against the fretboard. I might have kept one of them if i desired the need for a gibson-like guitar with a 25.5" scale length and if not for the rounded cramped fretboard.
They sent it to you because you always sell your Schecters . You like them and it makes you question why you spend more on other guitars. Also, they had me w/ the purple heart in the neck. Beautiful !
Inspite of the fact that you seem to like this one, I think it likes you playing it.That sustain got a big smile out of you ...and me.I'd be happy to purchase it from you if you decide not too keep it. I just got my C-1 exotic splatted maple....these guitars are very good....worth way more than what they cost... shecter is making some of the best production guitars around today...
Nice guitar indeed. But I'm commenting on what I feel is the "best" KYG axe review I have seen in a while. Longer, yes. But very much more detailed and complete first impressions. About the only thing you didn't cover was opening up the trem cavity and looking at the block, etc...But I really dig this longer, more complete style. Maybe consider making it the template for how you first impression axes moving forward?
FYI Gotoh actually owns Wilkinson anymore so maybe that’s why you like the Wilkinson so much. It really is my favorite tremelo on the planet. It gives you Floyd Rose tuning stability without the Floyd Rose fuss and maintenance!
Regular people don't know any different, and unless you're spending the big bucks, most guitarists will assume it's a veneer anyway. As long as it looks good!

I have 4 Schecters (1 Gryphon, all 3 of the Reign series). For the money Schecter is absolutely unbeatable for a quality guitar and the closest to Ibanez Wizard necks of any brand. I was surprised with the first two I bought, playable right out of the box. And the next 2 were the same as well. The ONLY other brand I've gotten that from is Gretsch.
C1’s are really good value. You can also get a guitar center special w fixed bridge and pair of emg’s for $500. If your interested in those pickups they cost $200 alone. Stays in tune. Think model I’m talking about is south korea build too. Only dislike is the tapering on body isn’t the most comfortable. Especially if you play classical style seated. Cuts into your forearm. Still a great value guitar.
Great review 👍 I was glad to see Schecter bring back this model! However, it's slightly disappointing to hear that it's a veneer top with a new control lay out. My older mid 2000's exotic has a real maple cap & extra tone knob with a push pull coil split. I wish they would have stayed with that. The Locking tuners & roasted maple neck are great new welcomed features though. Keep up the good work, Phil.
Phil said "spalted maple is a disease" and it causes the tree to grow funky growths which creates this stunning spalted figuring pattern. As Arnold said "it's not a tumor" but in the case of spalted maple, it is a tumor!
Nice guitar... I tend to prefer S. Korean for my "value" guitars.. I have owned a Custom Shop Hollywood Classic (22 yrs now.. The real deal..). I LOVE it.. It is beautiful.. It plays, sounds, and feels incredible.. My "go to".. is a (Diamond Series, black, PT Tele.. S. Korean..). Schecter makes great guitars. Good value.. 🎶 ❣️ 👍
Hey Phillip! Great video! Very informative. Two questions... Do the lack of stainless steel frets really matter here?? Finally, this or the PRS SE Custom series for an all round guitar player???
I have picked up 2 Schecters this year. Both are excellent guitars. I buy the higher end ones and they are encroaching Ibanez honestly. I really and getting to be a real fan. I have had probably 6 Schecters and never a single issue with any of them. I do my own setups because only I can get it where I want it. But they come perfectly playable. I have sent both Fender and Gibsons back because they have had major issues on arrival.
Hi Phill! Great Channel!Could you make a video talking about the guitar factories in indonesia? It would be interesting to know which city they are in and what the prices of these guitars are on the domestic market in Indonesia.
That guitars sounds so good clean. Very expensive and full sounding and definitely punching well above it's price tag. I replaced my Gibson Custom with a schecter Solo ii as it genuinely was a far better guitar regarding playability, holding it's tuning, tone variety. But getting back to the C1, it's a classy looking and amazing sounding guitar.
In terms of veneer, first we really have to accurately admit that wood species on a solid body guitar has no measurable impact on amplified tone. That being said, a spalted, quilt or whatever “top” does indicate veneer and it’s not a deception to just call it a top, it’s on top it’s a top. If it’s 8th or 4in thick that is a cap not a top. The body wood is capped with a thicker piece of exotic wood. What makes the difference in determining quality is the sanding and finish. With veneer if it’s not done well it’s not going to last and it’s not going to relic. A cap can be refinished multiple times and look beautiful for years or left to relic in an interesting way. If I am buying a $6000 case queen I of course expect a cap if I am buying an 800 gigging box with a top I know what I am getting and it’s up to me to keep it clean and polished to hold that finish. I am not sure what about how you phrased your thoughts on it that caused me to react and I do really enjoy your content I just think it was a talking point that really didn’t need to be made.
The JB and 59 are my favorite pups, I actually have them in another Schecter. To my ears, the '78 neck is not nearly as bassy, and is much more warm, but also brighter. The 59 neck is bassy and dark. The split is very chimey, where as the split on my 59 is much more quacky, as Phil says. The '78 bridge is again brighter than the JB. Please take this a grain of salt as I use a dark amp (MT15) and have use a lower tuning (Drop C). Phil, that high gain riff was tasty as hell. Sounds like early 2000s alternative rock. Nice
Schecter has been using 14" radius for at least 15 years.. Long before Kiesel was a thing. Great review, I'm definitely having some GAS after seeing this.
Excellent pickups. The tremolo is very stable. Have a godin with similar and just excellent tremolo but older style. I always measure the distance of the pickups to strings. Find they are too close usually which cuts sustain.
Great review as always Mr Phil, that is one beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Amazing value for the spec. QQ If most people can't tell if it's a veneer without deep inspection, does it really matter? Is there any purpose beyond bragging rights, does it have a sonic difference or longevity to wear?
Lol Iam happy with my guitar and Im not here to resurch for a new buy but, I just love your channel and all the infos you offer. Thanks bro. All the best and keep up your positive everytym. 1love

I have owned a Custom Shop Hollywood Classic (22 yrs now.. The real deal..). I LOVE it.. It is beautiful.. It plays, sounds, and feels incredible.. My "go to".. is a (Diamond Series, black, PT Tele.. S. Korean..). Schecter makes great guitars. Good value.. 🎶 ❣️ 👍
I got this 1 day ago it’s great!
Hey how is the trem? There is nobody using it in the demos so i can't see how usable it is for simple dive bombs
Great looking and sounding guitar.
Thanks for the review!
Nice video, Phil! I am a subscriber of yours for years already. I think I haven't seen you with P-90s yet.
Nice
That is a great looking guitar .. Does that neck feel like the wizard necks?? It looks so smooth
I’ve bought 2 schecters recently and they were set up really good usually I set up anything I buy .. but not the schecters
Schecter has been using 14" radius for at least 15 years.. Long before Kiesel was a thing.
Great review, I'm definitely having some GAS after seeing this.
I would like to see the new Schecter Tempest compared to a PRS S2 594.
That is a nice looking guitar. My PRS has 20 inch radius fretboard. I really like that guitar
Spalting, purple heart.... Makes me think of what a guitar would look like if Wyrmwood got into the guitar market.
Excellent pickups. The tremolo is very stable. Have a godin with similar and just excellent tremolo but older style. I always measure the distance of the pickups to strings. Find they are too close usually which cuts sustain.
You seemed to enjoy playing that guitar 🎸
Thank you Phil for another great video. And yes, very nice guitar with a lot of bang for the buck.
Schecter is slowly becoming my favourite brand
Great review as always Mr Phil, that is one beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Amazing value for the spec.

If most people can't tell if it's a veneer without deep inspection, does it really matter?
Is there any purpose beyond bragging rights, does it have a sonic difference or longevity to wear?
Very nice indeed love the tone & sustain.
Nice. Ive been eyeballing this one along with the other exotic but leaning more to this one because of the inlays. The other is a bit too much for me.
Lol Iam happy with my guitar and Im not here to resurch for a new buy but, I just love your channel and all the infos you offer. Thanks bro. All the best and keep up your positive everytym. 1love
