  • The RAF have a mission to destroy a Chateau where the Germans are developing secret weapons even more deadly than the V-1 and V-2 rockets that are wreaking havoc in London. Difficult enough at the best of times and it's taken extensive training with the new 'bouncing bombs' to get ready. Then the Germans drop a canister of film showing that they've moved RAF POWs into the complex to prevent assault. The only hope is to co-ordinate a Resistance attack with the air raid in the hope that some may be saved.
If you look closely some footage from '633 Squadron' was used in this movie.

Despite taking a fair bit of footage from 633 Squadron, I think this is a good film!

@@trajan231 No. 633 Squadron was released in a 1964. Mosquito Squadron was released in 1969. Although not a sequel, this film is similar to 633 Squadron and was influenced by it, even using some of its footage. The pre-title sequence, including the opening music by Frank Cordell, was taken from the film Operation Crossbow.

Glad you liked it Gary - and of course you recognize one or two scenes from '633 Squadron'. It's always nice to see it in slow motion :-)

Sì, David McCallum è ancora più famoso per 'The Man from UNCLE' anche qui. Molte grazie ancora una volta :-)

I can't believe that they used the Bovington Tiger 131 in a film in 1969. It's always heartening to see accurate representations of German equipment. They could have been lazy and just used one of the plentiful Shermans around and covered it in cardboard and swastikas.

Nap-of-the-earth (NOE) is a type of very low-altitude flight course used by military aircraft to avoid enemy detection and attack in a high-threat environment. Also known as "ground-hugging", "terrain masking", "flying under the radar" and "hedgehopping". During NOE flight, geographical features are used as cover, exploiting valleys and folds in the terrain by flying in, rather than over, them. This keeps the aircraft below enemy air defence radar coverage.

That bit of footage was lifted from '633 Squadron'. In the original 633 Squadron novel the RAF airbase (Sutton Craddock) was in Yourkshire and the attacking Luftwaffe planes were Bf110s.
