The smile she had on her face when she finally got the crayfish :)
Priceless!
This is one of those channels where we will get to say "I was there before it blew up". This channel is going to be big.
only if he makes his videos an agonizing 10 minutes long, as required by the youtube gulag
agreed!
@@BronzeOrwin "CZcams Gulag" LMAO I've never heard it referenced that way
I can't believe it still hasn't blown up
2:47 Just remembered my biology teacher at uni saying: "We biologists are ruthless killers. Everything we catch, dies."
I remember Bronwyn from her time in Alberta-- Hi Bronwyn! Glad to see you are still working on crayfish. I still use some of the photos you gave me for my wildlife class.
The world needs more of this. Thanks for the time and effort you put into making these videos and for highlighting the amazing research of others.
I'm so glad that science exists outside of politics and the craze of the world. It reminds me of getting lost in science in the way I did as a child. Thank you all so much for all you and your colleagues do!
Let's meet the biologists! There is an endless world of interesting biodiversity out there😁🏆
I love this so much!! Dr. Bronwyn Williams is fantastic. Hope to see more of them!!!
I'm getting really emotional @ the end, those beautiful lil' crusty friends!!!
awesome! this was fun to make, so i'm definitely going to try to do more!
Yes this is AWESOME! So inspirational to see what you can have as a job. Keep posting short interviews like this!
I love visiting specimen rooms. They're like a twisted death-filed cross between grocery store shelves and a reference library. Love them to pieces. Dr. Williams is so cool and seems really kind and her field is so interesting - Animal-based 'ecosystems' themselves are fascinating and understanding what populations are actually present where is soooo important for conservation. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels since I found the slow-mo insects. When I get a chance I want to go back and watch the long-form interviews you've done with professors. Keep em coming and thank you for giving us a peek into your world! - Biologist hopeful from TX with too many interests
As someone who used to catch Crayfish (or "Crawdads", as so many called them) in southern WV streams as a child, this segment was one that really pushed the nostalgia-buttons. Thank you for featuring these fascinating arthropods, and the hard work of Dr. Williams!
Yes! Thank you for sharing this on YT. It scratched an itch I'd forgotten was there! Brain Scoop used to do mini docs with museum and labs, I've missed them.
me too, fam
I LOVE THIS
Like you said, the hyper-focused and deep knowledge of experts is always fascinating to see. And showing off the cool stuff in NC is always a plus :)
Absolutely, please produce more video profiles like this one!!!
I am a university student from Argentina, just a year ago I started my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and the whole world of arthropods is extremely attractive to me. For me, as a novice student, these videos are a "holy grail" to get to know the field and laboratory work of professionals. Thank you very much for the great content.
👍🏼 For all the crayfish I have seen, caught and occasionally eaten, I had no idea some made chimneys! Yes, more knowledge, please! 😎✌🏼
Her face when she caught it was wonderful :)
That’s very interesting, would like to see more of that, particularly in Florida
This was excellent. I would love to get a glimpse of your colleagues work. Thanks!
i do love this type of content. mostly because i havent seen it anywhere else. its nice to have you making it
I love this content! Been subbed for years and this is my favorite type of vid alongside the insect flight!
Nice to finally find out about these things, growing up my familys back yard would flood often and it was FULL of these chimney burrows constantly throughout the year, but I would only rarely see these mudbugs out in our yard.
This is my fav episode of all time! I absolutely love crayfish. And I think that Bronwyn (I hope I spelled it correctly) has the very best job in the whole wide world! You can tell that she is very intelligent and does such interesting work. She is an excellent role model. Did you see her beautiful smile when she found what she was looking for? That's how I would feel!!!
Umm yes I LOVE this type of content!
I subscribed to you not only for your personal specialty/interest in bugs, but for your excellent videography, and hmmm... Story telling? Anyway, it comes through in this video in a great way!!
I’m glad you are branching out a little. I do actually appreciate seeing what yo ur colleagues do. It’s fascinating and I hope you keep doing it :)
Deeply glad that you shared this video and it’s beyond cool to use your voice to help rep fellow scientists!
Oh, I really, really love this. I'm a North Carolinian from the Charlotte area, and me and my brothers loved to search for crayfish in the creek behind the house. For several years we didn't find any, but last year and this year I saw a couple. I think they're coming back!!!
I just discovered this channel. It is wonderful! I really appreciate all of your efforts.
please tell her that i think she is so cool. genuinely inspiring
Would love to see more of these videos on what your colleagues are doing! I didn't know there were so many species, and that's just in NC!!
These bite sized, dense learning bits are super awesome! I wish I learned a little more about what she was doing when she was catching the crayfish like with the water trick
Pretty cool, I miss NC wilderness
These are a great addition to your channel. Showing the process of science, and how it’s relevant to the viewer’s life, provides a lot of needed context.
Love so much all of your videos! Please keep inspiring us with these stories!
I love it, love it, pure, simple, truthful, direct, amazing guys and information, revives the curious amazed child in me.
What amazing work is being done, unknown to most of us. Thank you so much!!!
I spent hours this summer watching the crayfish in the stream next to my house. They hid in leaf litter underwater, but once you know what to look for you can see the leaves moving in a certain way and you know they're in there
Oh, and there was also the remains of raccoon meals (both in pieces and in scat)
I love seeing this! It’s great to see the immense biodiversity. I love the high definition photos of the crayfish on black backgrounds, it really shows all of their amazing details!
Thats very interesting and I'd love to see more storys! Please keep them coming!
Amazing! If anything, too short a video. Please feature more of your colleagues on the channel, the more the merrier!
I've been interested in crayfish ever since I learned as a kid that those chimneys in our ditch were built be them
That was amazing, I especially enjoyed the super high quality close up footage of the worms that live on the crayfish.
I just have to say, I love this channel so much. Your work is so cool!
in the field, shoulder deep in the mud, digging for bugs.... dream job
I love this kind of content, do keep em coming please 🤗
The exoskeleton, decapod, combination is evolutionary perfection.
Thanks for showing these fascinating creatures!
Love this!! Def want more
Super cool! And also a good intro to a very specific field.
Loved the video! Interesting to see what this kind of field work looks like. I had no idea crayfish were so diverse!
Thanks Adrian, this was awesome.

I'd love to see more videos like this, they're so neat!
I am an engineer but i always find my self fascinated by biology and naturals complicated systems
THIS WAS THE COOLEST STORY! THANK YOU!!!!!
I appreciate these videos, and I'd love to see more!
I always thought crayfish lived in the water. So neat to learn this.
Yes, please post more!
Yes yes yes please more of this!

incredible channel. This is science. Extremely interesting.
This was great! More video like this would be awesome
That museum was amazing
Make more videos like this. The world must know!
Makes me want to persue further education in this field! One of my assignments for college was to put together a specimen collection of aquatic invertebrates, and one of my favorite specimens is a nice big crayfish. Really should plop it under a microscope again sometime.
Cool crab, mate! Here where I live there are only 3 crayfish species and 2 of them are from north america. I didn't know that crayfishes could dig that deep. Thanks for sharing!
This is great content! I love it
Yes! We like this kind of content!
As a New Orleanian, I'm interested in crawfish because they're delicious
Way cool research on the crayfish!
Fascinating content!
Well done sir.😁
Yes yes keep it up, I don't care what your content is about but if you find it interesting enough to make a video about I trust that I will like it enough to watch it!

Huh. Fascinating!
Very interesting. I didn't know crayfishes can be found so far inland (and burrowing underground at that).
Very Cool!
