Dune Imperium UPRISING Review: Better Than the Original, or Just Different?

- In November of 2023, Dire Wolf Digital released Dune Imperium: Uprising, a bizarre hybrid of a board game that is definitely a remake of Dune Imperium, but also still an expansion for it… at the same time? In this video, we’re primarily reviewing it as a second edition of sorts, a Dune Imperium the Sequel, if you will, or 'The Sandworms Strike Back.'
What kinds of changes does Uprising bring to the table? Is it actually so good that it has dethroned the original as the first box to buy in this beloved series? Will anyone ever be able to sculpt a sandworm that doesn’t look naughty? Jarom will do his best to answer all these questions but the last, as we already know the answer to that one….

Been playing a lot of imperium on my iPad and i love it and now want a physical version. Maybe I’ll buy uprising instead of the original. At one point it would be cool two own both since thematically it’s like owning both Dune movie BluRays.

Thanks a lot!! This game is completely out in the UK and I've been pondering importing it from the US vs. waiting for restock vs. getting the digital version, and I was dying to know which version to get. Now I know!!
If you want to play online, you're better off with Tabletop Simulator.
The digital edition needs the expansions for it to be truly. Hard to go back to basics after uprising or immo+if.
@@Emanon... I was thinking of the Steam game? I don't think it has DLCs or other options. It has excellent reviews but I'd still need my friends to buy it, so I'm starting to think importing the Uprising boardgame from direwolf themselves isn't that bad an investment in the end.
I bought Uprising. Brilliant game.
But I do feel my friends that bought OG Dune and the expansions way before me were done dirty.
They should've released an "update pack" for Imperium for the people that have invested so much time and money in the game.
Great video. Regarding your recommendation to pick uprising if you were new to the game, does your recommendation take into account the weight/complexity of the game? In other words is uprising easier to learn and get into compared to the original?
Yes, it is easier to learn, and easier to get into. It's still fairly dense-- as far as rules complexity goes, both titles are about even (Uprising is *slightly* simpler, but just slightly)-- but Uprising trims away some of the sprawl in the original, which makes for an experience that's more intuitive & accessible.

Uprising is the way to go here. It is just better streamlined to get the best stuff out of the game.
Do you feel like it is one or the other or better to get both Dune games?
Great question! Picking up both is great; if you're in a situation where you need to decide between one or the other, I'd recommend going with Uprising, then picking up the OG later. That's my take on it, at any rate.
