well, the wigs came later. the first couple years it was dyed. he was still a commercial illustrator during that time.

4:He was albino
5:He was gay
DKMPalace and he very likely had Asbergers syndrome. He wasn't albino, however, his skin tone was a result of childhood illness, the hair color was artificial.
His name was Ondrej Warhola but he changed it ;)
DKMPalace He was not albino, his skin conditions were sequele from childhood illness, namely Sydenhams Chorea and possibly Scarlet Fever. Albinism is from birth and comes with it's own set of difficulties, especially vision. Love him or hate him, we're talking about him. :)

I am so glad you mention that Andy was a mass going catholic & worked in a soup kitchen feeding the poor. Opens up an interesting perspective on his work & his relation to the materialism of the modern world.

Andy was proud that he was successful at the business of art, rather than being an artist...He brought contemporary art to the mainstream and he knew how to promote himself...
He was also the manager of The Velvet Underground when they did their first album
As a producer he just paid for sessions and gave them support, he saw their talent.

I love The Velvets and The Shaggs but in talent and musical knowledge is what I mean.
Andy helped make them what they were. He didn't just allow their subversive content, he encouraged it. Any other manager or producer would have made them a rolling stones clone.

I actually had a dream where Andy hugged me and called me beautiful. He also kissed my nose, kinda ironic how he hates his nose in reality and in a dream he apparently loved mine.

Andy Warhol (born Andrew Warhola; August 6, 1928 - February 22, 1987) was an American artist, director and producer who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art.
His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertising that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting, silkscreening, photography, film, and sculpture.
Some of his best known works include the silkscreen paintings Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962), the experimental film Chelsea Girls (1966), and the multimedia events known as the Exploding Plastic Inevitable (1966-67).
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Warhol initially pursued a successful career as a commercial illustrator.
After exhibiting his work in several galleries in the late 1950s, he began to receive recognition as an influential and controversial artist.
His New York studio, The Factory, became a well-known gathering place that brought together distinguished intellectuals, drag queens, playwrights, Bohemian street people, Hollywood celebrities, and wealthy patrons.
He promoted a collection of personalities known as Warhol superstars, and is credited with coining the widely used expression "15 minutes of fame."
In the late 1960s, he managed and produced the experimental rock band The Velvet Underground and founded Interview magazine.
He authored numerous books, including The Philosophy of Andy Warhol and Popism: The Warhol Sixties.
He is also notable as a gay man who lived openly as such before the gay liberation movement.
After a gallbladder surgery in 1987, Warhol died in February of that year at the age of 58.
Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books, and feature and documentary films.
The Andy Warhol Museum in his native city of Pittsburgh, which holds an extensive permanent collection of art and archives, is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to a single artist.
Many of his creations are very collectible and highly valuable.
The highest price ever paid for a Warhol painting is US$105 million for a 1963 canvas titled Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster); his works include some of the most expensive paintings ever sold.
A 2009 article in The Economist described Warhol as the "bellwether of the art market".

But if you're, like, over fifteen it seems pretty silly you'd hear about the most famous, important artist of modern times from some goofy tv show. How does he fit into American Horror Story? Let me guess: they trash him, make him look like an ass? I had heard about AHS and we watched the first two episodes of season one and thought they sucked. (Same thing with Shameless. Everybody raved about it. Me and my gf tried it, really wanted to like it. After, like, the third or fourth episode, we looked at each and one of us said, "Uh, this sucks, right?") Somebody tell me, though: what does AHS have to do with Warhol? Is there a character based on him or something? Is it a central part of the season?

His parents came to the U.S. from a village named Miková, that now is a part of Slovakia. His Slovak relatives still live there. In the town of Medzilaborce, close to Miková, is a museum/gallery dedicated to Andy Warhol.

You missed the story on how Warhole was shot by Valerie Solanas in 1968... his check bounced to the doctor (Dr Giuseppe Rossi who saved his life).

1965, first public viewing of video art. It took the rest of the art world a long time to catch up! Even more shocking is the the Tate Gallery in London has only in the last ten years or so started to recognise photography as art and started adding it to their collections! Andy was so far ahead of the rest of us!

My favorite Warhol is his works of Diane Von Furstenburg. She has always been one of my favorite people and seeing her in a work by one of my other favorites makes is even better.

I always thought it was an ordinary thing to eat alone in a restaurant until I saw this video 2 weeks ago, now when I do it and see people with their friends on the other tables I feel uncomfortable

Jasper Johns and Robert Raushenberg were more inspiring and direct influences but only because I didn't know a lot about Andy's output besides the Campbell Soup Can images! Once I learned more about him, I was hooked!

It's amazing that he can take something so damn common and mundane and make it pleasing and interesting.
Only made it to the second "Thing I didn't know"... Warhol was going bald prematurely, he owned a lot of wigs including silver and white ones. He did not dye his hair. ………. Also there is no good solid source that claims he was kicked out of his HS art club. There are a lot of inbreed internet sources that claim that. …. BUT I can not find a primary source. Lets not spread mythology to sell your product, what ever that is.
