This is where Angel Reese crossed the line. Following around a player who just lost the game and taunting her incessantly is bad sportsmanship. A sign of low moral character. No way around it. IMHO.

Yep. Personally, I don't like trash talking/actions during the game because it's not my style. It's still a valid strategy to use against your opponent (but it CAN go too far). There's a huge difference though if the game is over (or all but over). You're a bad winner and are just acting like a shitty person at that point.

In my opinion, the only justification for trash talking is to gain a psychological edge over an opponent during a game in order to win. That justification doesn't exist after the game (or indeed even during the game if the game has for all intents and purposes already been decided). Athletes should exhibit good sportsmanship, which means being magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat.

That's part of playing a competitive game of basketball. If you never played competitive sports, then maybe you do not understand that emotions run high and taunting/trash talking is part of what satisfies the perpetrator and motivates the recipient. If this was a 1980s Detroit Pistons versus Boston Celtics game, no one would bat an eye at this. It's time for us all to toughen up a bit. Oh, yeah, and stop having double standards. You know what I mean?
It's interesting that you brought up the 80's Pistons. A week or so ago there were all these accusations of racism when an article called LSU the Dirty Debutantes because of their style of play/attitudes. I couldn't understand what was racist about that. When I hear "debutante", the only derogatory stereotype I think of is a spoiled rich white girl. So then there's "dirty". Well, the only time I can think of that is when it's attached to Mexican. For the record, I'm half-white, half-Mexican! Also, my friends have referred to me as that but we're cool with derogatory insults. So the race card being played for "Dirty Debutantes" was just bullshit.
Now, those Pistons were called the "Bad Boys". The word "boy" definitely has a racist connotation, but I have never once heard anyone say that "Bad Boys" was racist. They got a reputation because they were dirty. Laimbeer, Rodman, Mahorn, and others knew their style. The name fit.

Ironically, Caitlin Clark initially made the "you can't see me" gesture to her former USA Basketball teammate and roommate, Hailey Van Lith, who is notorious for her trash talk. In fact, this is likely why CC told Hailey to shut up in the same game. Van Lith was interviewed before the game, and at that time, she said that any trash talk between them is "done in love." You know, kind of like MJ and Magic famously going at it in practice on the Dream Team in 1992. Why Angel Reese brought race into this, saying that she was standing up for girls who look like she does, has nothing to do with CC or anything CC did in her game with Van Lith. Personally, I did not like the way Reese taunted CC at the end of the game, but race never entered my mind when this occurred. I would have been equally disappointed if CC did the same thing to Angel if Iowa had won. And while many people were justifiably upset by those who brought racist comments into the conversation (I was upset by this too), I am sure that CC would have been attacked mercilessly if the roles were reversed, in which case race would have been the focus of the conversation in a very different way. The whole thing is unfortunate, as both of these players have been wonderful for the game, and this is what we should all be focused on.
Don't be so naive! A blind man can see ,that the only reason Angel is getting so much backlash has everything to do with race! Anyone with half a brain, knows that there's a unfair double standard in this country that's motivated strictly because of race!
