Forget the sun loungers this year, why on earth would you want to relax poolside in the Mediterranean when you could be driving across the Sahara Desert in a 4x4? Friends and family will think you’re having a midlife crisis, but who cares!
First run in 2018, Driven to Extremes SAHARA is a 2 week 4x4 vehicle expedition in which you and your teammates will take on the original Dakar Rally route in support of injured military veterans suffering from PTSD.
From the Algerian border to the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll battle your way across hundreds of miles of sand, rock and gravel through Morocco - and we’ll be there to support you all the way.
Open to anyone with a sense of adventure and in any Land Rover Freelander 1 (other 4x4’s are welcome for 2024). Are you up for the challenge...?
Driven to Extremes was established in 2017 by expedition specialists Max Adventure, to help military veterans suffering from PTSD by taking them on challenging vehicle adventures to aid their recovery.
Where as some activities such as Atlantic rowing can allow too much thinking time, vehicle expeditions can cross continents in a matter of days. The relentless pace ensures that the veterans are overwhelmed with new and rapidly changing experiences helping push horrific memories to the back of their minds.
Operating in remote and challenging environments, working again as valued members of a close-knit team and overcoming demanding challenges, provides a new focus, promotes self-esteem and rebuilds their confidence.
