*Smash like for breakdowns*
i did! wheres about?
Its tome to mentality those songs!
Maybe a harder version of Blood and Glitter? Or ask Electric Callboy for a collab to create something like that unspeakable finish Guy. They seem like fun guys and up for something like that
You need to look into the band E-an-na. They wanted to represent Romania a year ago! You are gonna love it!
2:58 Me, thinking Australia is part of Oceania and not in Europe, therefore not part of the EUROvision Soncgontest, and wanting to write a comment about how you might have switched around Austria and Australia - then making a little research just to be sure and then - WHAT? Realizing that Australia actually takes part in the EUROvision song contest these days... Well. Ok, then. *sadbritishgenocid..colinizationnoises*

I'm from UK and watched all 4 hours and Finland was robbed. Germany deserved better
Germany DID deserve better! They were awesome!
Australia was robbed too. Song was as good for non-metal listeners to be introduced to genre that my 0% metal wife actually headbanged to that)
I'm from Sweden and watched all 4 hours and you're right. Finland was indeed robbed and Germany deserved better
@@moondaughter1004 there are opinion that ESC managers gave victory to loreen, just to be able celebrate ABBA's victory 50th anniversary properly. Now its your turn to make it worth.
Germany went all LGB cult 👎🏻
I live in Liverpool, which hosted this years Eurovision, and everyone walking around the city this week has been singing “CHA CHA CHA CHACHA CHA CHA”. The people wanted Finland to win. Electric Callboy for Germany next year please to right the wrong.
Why am I not surprised 🤣 I left Liverpool last year and that’s one thing I miss is the lively atmosphere
I don't think EC will apply again. They got their publicity through the frankly corruption-like preselection in Germany last year and that's fine. And they actually managed to instill a changeover there too, much bigger variety in the national voting in Germany this year.
Do they allow past entries to be re-entered as the representative' entry for the new cycle?????! 🤔
the only thing i was missing from this song was some chugs evry cha
Super fun and easy singalong
I'm from Finland and let me tell you, because of Käärijä every store is full of green products, every brand and company changed their logo to fit Käärijä and every single person here seems to love the song from an infant to the elder people. Would've loved to see Electric Callboy in Eurovision.
As a metalhead raised in Texas, every time I hear about Finland's metal culture, it really makes me curious about what it takes to become a citizen there.
@@MikeRotch11 doesn't take much to be honest
@@MikeRotch11the Finnish language is probably the most difficult part of living in Finland, if you can stand the cold weather
@@MikeRotch11 It doesn't take that much now, it probably will soon thanks to our upcoming parliament. The hardest thing now probably is that you have to know at least some Finnish or/and Swedish, other than that the hardest thing is the coldness. It can get -30°C or -22°F during January and February. But let me tell you, nothing beats a hot sauna while listening to some metal🤘
@@PeMeYo Yeah, hoping the new government *will* make it harder, as we are now literally swarmed by African & Arab immigrants (at least where I live), we should make it so that only the deserving ones, like Finland-loving metalheads, can easily get in ;) (Hopefully my comment won't be deleted by YT, though, as nowadays it seems to be a crime to say the honest truth...)
Never thought Id ever see Nik react to Eurovision
Same. It came as a surprise but a welcomed one!
same, but I'm glad he did
And does it so well, I'm proud of him TBH to learn so much about it.
I'm all hands for it tho
@@sarahsho9799 For sure!
Cheers for taking the time to mention us! We also have a new and much heavier single called Prince of Fire out now! \m/
Cool to see you lot here! :D
You guys were sick, that breakdown went hard, my whole family was jumping up and down, we were all rooting for you ❤
Yeah I'm really enjoying that and discovering your back catalogue - see your trick of getting exposure beyond WA by taking part in the it's crazy, it's party, insanity that is ESC - it worked :D 🔥🔥
Omg voyager is here!!!! You guys did amazing
Can’t get Promise out of my head. That breakdown 🤘
Lord of the Lost actually did a heavier cover of Cha Cha Cha.
It's pretty awesome 👍
And there's already mashups of LOTL and Käärijä together, even better.
It's so good!
And barking mad also made covers in english and in deutch
No way
Thats awesome ha ha
I've been listening to that for five days straight now ngl
I checked a few spotify stats. At the time of the semi-finals Lords of the Lost had about 600k monthy listeners and Käärijä had about 1m. Now LOTL doubled their listeners and Käärijä tripled his listeners so good for them
That's amazing as an existing LOTL fan, they were hard-done by in the rankings
Actually pretty much nobody even in Finland knew before who Käärijä was, let alone anyone abroad.
Sooo hard done by, I never expected them to win, but dead last stung a bit, especially considering some not-as-good acts
A cooler stat for Käärijä is, he was relatively unknown in Finland before the national selection. Before the announcement where they revealed he was participating, he had around 40k monthly listeners. Now after the Eurovision final, he is sitting on 4m monthly listeners.
He's basically 100x his listener count from then to now.
@@random8466 Oh shit. Glad he got something out of the ESC if not the win
Voyager who represented Australia is a decent metal band btw. They describe their style as colorful metal and have a big discography. Check them out!
I second that! I’ve been following Voyager for a long time now. They’re good friends with the guys from Leprous and have featured Einar on a song on one of their past albums.
Their last years attempt was even better but damn, both songs slapped hard especially live🎉
Similar bands would be Haken and Vola
@@ernonikkola1084 yeah they toured with Vola last year (saw them and they both smashed it live)
Yeah I love them!! I’m super proud of them and getting into the top 10
Käärijä said he was inspired by Rammstein, he's a huge fan ..
I'm still so sad he didn't win because the song is written with such an eye for detail. And the jury favoured an Popsong again
He even has a Rammstein tattooed on his chest. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it.
They always do, that and ballads, the weird and entertaining stuff (almost) never wins. As a swede I have to say, Finland was robbed and deserved to win, our song was just boring and pretty much the same shit we always send, I have no idea why the jury (and sometimes the audience) always eat that up and keep voting for it.
Listen to the Rammstein song Tatto and there you have the intro to Cha cha cha. With a little Elecric Callboy influence as well. Nothing wrong with borrowing if you present it in a unique, creative way!
Basically everyone I heard about this said that while Loreen had a good song,
It shouldn't've been the winning song.
The jury made it impossible for the other acts to compete,
And it sours the entire event.
@@thelasttrumpet2915 that's so funny
It's not metal, but in 2019 Iceland sent the band Hatari, which had screaming vocals and was in 10th place! it would have been in 6th place without the jury so people definitely liked them
Well if it wasn't metal, it was pretty damn close 😅 Loved it! From Finland
According to them they're an anti-capitalist BDSM techno performance art group. Sounds pretty metal to me
Hatari was my personal favorite that year. Very industrial/EBM/Aggrotech style music. I was surprised they did get so high up on the rankings.
Hatari is my favourite eurovision entry of all time
@NORNISSE 😂
As a Swede, imma just go full out and say: I literally wanted any other country to win. I really hoped that Finland would win, Australia had a banger of a song and Germany deserved WAAAAY more points that they got.
You had a great entry in your nationals tho. Smash Into Pieces killed it and I really hoped they would win the nationals and go to Eurovision. Sadly it didn't happen. Same with Estonia and Ollie and his song "Venom".
Sweden has a great metal scene and yet you always send the most generic songs. Send something with a little more edge next year, please!
@@nickname_Kanzan oh trust me, I wanted Smash into pieces to win soo bad 😞

Sad that Lord of lost didn’t get more points
honestly they didn't deserve last place at all. I'm from Germany and I usually hate our entries, was pissed that Electric Callboy didn't get to go to Eurovision and then happy that LOTL could go and I feel so sorry for them that they finished last :/ poor guys, they're pretty sweet too
As a German i was supprised that we got points in the first place.
@@jogiwa2002as Lied war definitiv nicht das schlechteste.
Really don't know why Germany placed below the UK. I'm from the uk and our entry was awful lol lord of the lost for Germany are an unreal band with so many bangers and the fact that the vocalist Chris harms really plays on the androgynous theme with his outfits which adds so much showmanship is just amazing. Kaarjia deserved the win clearly with the song nevermind the fact I'm sure many noticed the tattoo on his chest is a Rammstein one (so he's a metalhead too) and the beginning of the song really had that Rammstein feel to it
Also go listen to lord of the lost cover of Finland's song released not long ago it's so good
Because germany always looses, that's just how it is
One of the least worst from the UK in recent year though?
Germany was around place 12 to 17 in almost every country. Not enough to get points though. They did alot better than the points show when it comes to public votes, way better than the UK.
I think I would've been less mad about the UK placing above Germany if Mae Muller could actually sing live. The song is boring, yeah, but it's not the worst thing I've ever heard in my life, but the live rendition was truly awful. I have no idea how Germany didn't beat that tbh!
Answer: Germany lost 'some friends' due to its refugee fail.
a perfect example of a band that became big after Eurovision would be Lordi, which you showed a pic of, they are fun in camp way, i dig them.
Another example could be Blind Channel. They gained a lot of recognition from eurovision.
@@kaakelimuki3509 Yeah, though they weren't camp, just rocked hard! ;D

There's no way a metal band ever wins as long as juries are picking their neighbors or the blandest radio-friendly pop songs possible.
the public didn't pick metal either (LOTL got 15 points from public, australia 21), taking away jury wouldn't change anything in this regard. everyone votes politically half of the time
A metal band did win in 2006! Lordi with Hard Rock Hallelujah

Finland brought the party and finally all the fun to an evening full of safe songs, but before that, Serbia had me hooked. It´s such a creepy song and it did things to my brain that I want more of. All the harder acts were in my top 5, but also Norway.
Finland were robbed, his performance was a lot more genuine and the fact he sang it in his mother tongue made it all the better.
ngl, that moldova song needs to become part of your "proof anything can be metal" shorts

Lord of the Lost supports Iron Maiden on their UK tour this or next year. Seeing them as headliners with Esoterica as support in September. If you like something heavier why not check out Ruins by them, probably the heaviest song they got.
what? Thats probably the most easy going and melodic song from that entire album. They have a lot much much heavier songs.

For me, CHA CHA CHA is a mix with TATTOO from Rammstein but with an Electric Callboy vibe !!
Actually the singer is a Rammstein fan (he has a Rammstein Rosenrot tattoo on his chest), his outfit is inspired by the pink fur top of Till Lindemann and even Rammstein’s drummer reacted to this song (which is even awesome) !!!
ABBA are going to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their Eurovision victory in 2024 right when Sweden are going to organize Eurovision 2024, but it’s just a « big coincidence » 😂
Funnily enough, ABBA have apparently announced that they won’t be taking part in Eurovision next year! I don’t think the juries expected that when they voted 😂
@@emdove ABBA just trolled/ghosted the juries !!! 😂
Exactly
@@emdove When I saw that I laughed way more than I should've. I never thought ABBA would be interested in the first place, they don't really do that kind of publicity crap anymore, and I think they also realise it would bring mostly bad press for them anyway if they did it. It's fantastic, Sweden can celebrate its stupid abbavision WITHOUT ABBA LOL!!
Käärijä was robbed! He brought life to this year’s Eurovision. The crowd went crazy!
No he wasn't, he came in second place. It's a great place to be and 150 jury points is not bad. Austrailia however was robbed.. 21 public votes, jury was more sane then the public this year.
@@PurplePunchini He came first in the public vote. Europe wanted him, juries wanted bland Swedish pop ballad. Does it not matter more what the public votes for? Australia and Germany for sure were robbed though.
@@Golegator Yes but Sweden got 243 votes in the public vote.
Australia got 130 jury votes and 21 public votes. Croatia got 112 public votes while jury voted 11. The public isn't always right.
The public votes matter, combined with the jurys vote. The public and the jury didn't agree on Cha cha cha, they did agree on Tattoo. Jury didn't give the win to Tattoo, 243 public votes helped a lot.
@@PurplePunchini and the 340 jury points were what? ABBA fuel?
@@vedrancorluka2196 And 376 points were what? Social media and hype fuel?
The jury wasn't three people sitting in the same room giving Sweden 340 point. It was many countries and different jurys made up of different people.
Maybe the jurys gave 340 points because they liked Loreen? And maybe the public gave 376 point because they liked Cha cha cha?
And honestly if you want to believe some conspiracy theory about Sweden winning it's a lot more reasonable to think the jury voted Loreen because they wanted the same hype as with Euphoria again. The whole ABBA theory is just silly.
As a fan of Eurovision for 8 years already and also a metalhead I will never forget Hungarian people for choosing AWS to represent them in 2018.
And of course Blind Channel got big after participating in the contest 2 years ago, after that they got signed by Century Media Records.
Hard Rock/metal'ish songs in Eurovision making me happy asf
As a long time Blind Channel fan you don't even know HOW HAPPY I was when they got into it, received huge ovation and their popularity sky rocketed. They killed it big time and they deserves all they have now so much. Also their latest single "Happy Doomsday", which was released last sunday, is another certified banger!
@@nickname_Kanzan I can totally agree with you!! After ESC 2021 I became a big time fan of Blind Channel. And Happy Doomsday is indeed a huge banger!! 🔥🖤
I'm so happy Lord Of The Lost are getting more recognition. They are a good band and even if they were last (which I am disappointed) them gaining new fans is like a victory in itself.
Also, you should try reacting to some entries in Eurovision like Voyager (2023), Blind Channel (2021), Hatari (2019), AWS (2018), maNga (2010), Teräsbetoni (2008) and Lordi (2006)
I still love Lordi, pretty much the first Eurovision I watched and they blew me away. I thought it was just ridiculous outfits and boring pop songs before then.
MmaNga (2010) and Teräsbetoni (2008) are among my favourite ESC acts ever! ;) All in this list are great, but these somehow get less recognition than the others.
@@florenna Teräsbetoni are actually one of my favourite act as well. Too bad they don't get enough mention in the Eurovision community when we count Metal or Rock acts.
i worked in the sound team at eurovision and hearing both germany and australia for the first time in the arena a couple weeks ago was absolutely mind blowing. wasnt expecting to hear riffs or vocals like that at an event like eurovision at all. also the lead vocalist from voyager came into the IEM prep room at the end of the event while we were all packing down and thanked us for our work which was a nice moment - note to all musicians out there, be nice to your techies!
He seemed like a really great guy. Nice to hear that story.
I love how respectful Nik is towards other genres besides metal. there’s too many metalheads on social media who get pissed of when they hear a pop song😅
I mean this years eurovision had the least innovative songs, either pop with tiktok dances, ballads with nothing to them, "folkloric" tunes that had no folklore to them, and whatever Croatia was. Besides Finland, Germany, Australia and Norway the rest were too bland; and that makes it annoying, plus the allegations of copying and rigging...

Sadly they got totally robbed, like any metal/ rock song got this year
I've been listening to Lord of the Lost since 2019. Back then they had between 100k to 200k listeners on Spotify. It's nice to see them have so much listeners, they've certainly earned it.
The band was formed in 2009 or 08 so they've been around for a while now. I also found Voyager interesting, gonna look into their music.
Voyager's music is pretty sick NGL, definitely worth a listen. 10/10 highly recommend
I've just found out that Lord Of The Lost (Germany) made a cover of Cha Cha Cha and it's awesome
me and my flatmate went absolutely feral whenever we saw guitars on stage 🤣 Also Blood and Glitter absolutely felt like one of those crazy songs that would come out on top :( HOW TF ARE PEOPLE NOT ENTERTAINED?????
It's a Eurovision staple that Germany doesn't really ever get any jury votes, because of..... Historical reasons. They were absolutely robbed this year ://
probably bc it's germany tbh. didn't like the song too much but they deserved better than being last
I'm sure people were entertained, but voting is another matter ;)
Because most televotes went to Finland, Sweden, Norway, Croatia etc.
Which is prob why Germany got blanked
Germany got, on average, 15th to 16th place in the televotes. But due to the weird voting system, only the top 10 most voted by each country get any points. So they definitely got the votes, just sadly didn’t make it into enough top 10s 😅
Yes, I am so bummed we got last again that I looked that up, sue me 😂
Käärijä is such a great performer and I am still bummed he didn't win. Voyager from AUS and Lord of the Lord from GER were insanely good. Part of me regrets only giving Käärijä 10 votes and 5 each for Voyager and Lord of The Lost, but regardless my votes hardly mattered as an outside of Europe voter. My heart still says I should have gone 100% Käärijä.
Don't worry, Käärijä couldn't have win even he would have gotten even more points from people. Jury votes to Sweden was just way too much. But thank you so much for voting Finland and i'm glad you gave also your votes to Australia and Germany, they deserved it! Greetings from Finland💚
Cha Cha Cha is also similar to Rammstein's Tattoo, with Käärijä also having a Rammstein tattoo on his chest. Though Schneider liked some of Käärijä's post on Insta and even said he liked that song more. So even if it was inspired by Ramm, Callboy, or both - it has been approved as a great song by both bands.
If you liked Lord of the Lost I *highly* suggest you check out their track Voodoo Doll. It was a letter written by a woman about the mormon church and, my god it is amazing.
Raining Stars is also worth checking out, my favourite one.
Priest is also worth listening to.
Apart from the rock/metal songs I also really digged the Serbian track and their visuals. I just can't stop imagining Bring Me doing a cover version, it would sound even more awesome. Oh yeah btw, Lord of the Lost did a cover of Cha Cha Cha, also really slaps!
Manifesting a Bring Me cover of Samo Mi Se Spava right now, you’re so right, that would slap so hard.
I met the dudes from Lord of the Lost a couple of times, course they are from my hometown, even worked with their bassist at a music store for couple weeks. They are the nicest people and really don't deserve the last place. Every year it feels a bit like everybody at eurovision just hates Germany
Been listening to Lord of the lost for years, such a great band. They have heavier songs, they have lighter songs, they really do like to experiment with their sound. They performed much better than a lot of countries who scored higher, guess world still gets scarred by screams.
Songs I'd recommend to check out: The Future of Past Life, La Bomba, Full Metal Whore, Gospel of Judas, Lighthouse
And Priest!
A thing about it that most countries have a tornanent of their own to pick a song, ppl voting. I am 🇸🇪 rooting for 🇫🇮
Average rock band in Eurovision: exists
Everyone else: oh no what is this satanic abomination 😦
It is nice to see some variety, I hope it increases the number of metalheads in the EU! 🤘
I can't even tell you how happy I am that big (metal) reaction channels world wide are talking about Käärijä and how the juries are rigged. A big moment for Käärijä and Finnish music in general, never in a million years would we have thought in Finland that a Finnish party song would go on the Global top 50 list on Spotify and get this kind of recognition. Cha cha cha, it's crazy it's party 💚
Not only that, but Käärijä's performance earned the second most televotes in Eurovision history. 87% of his theoretical maximum -- that's phenomenal!

You should totally check out more @voyagerau - they started off as a old school power metal band, then got more proggy from 2011 on. Some legit breakdowns in their last few albums. Ghost Mile and Hyperventilating are awesome tracks
Hyperventilating is a wicked track! Awesome riffs
I had no idea Voyager was representing us in EuroVision this year. That's dope! I was first introduced to Voyager at Download Festival Melbourne, in 2019. They were the first band to play on one of the main stages, and they've got some genuine bangers: What a Wonderful Day and Ascension being the two that stuck with me the most. I'd recommend checking them out.
I'm European, living in UK - most years I'm indifferent to Eurovision but this year it was electrifying and I can't stop going Cha Cha Cha as I'm doing random things. Although they did have harsh vocals and metal acts going back a couple of decades, with one group of masked metallers even winning - Lordi, from... you guessed it... Finland!
Slovenia & Latvia were amazing as well. Good indie rock bands.
I think the jury vote should count as like half the public vote. So it’s only 1/3 on the jury and 2/3 on the public vote. As a Brit, I’m fully aware this’ll mean we get 0 points way more often and that’s fair. But yeah Finland deserved to win it this year, it was a more ‘Eurovision’ song and the one that’s stuck in my head. And Germany deserved far better than dead last.
I thought we could get out of bottom half once... but noooo...
And now we will never send a metal band ever again. It wasn't Lotl best song, but come on.
@@insert-name-here6777 It may not have been their best song true. But it was better than what the UK sent.
i think people would really vote for uk if they sent something unique and fun ! like its not about country, your entries simply tend to be similiar year after year, it would be refreshing to see something else besides pop songs about break-ups (cant blame only you guys, there will always be at least a few breakup songs) you've got such iconic bands as muse for an example, im sure there would be similiar talent just waiting to be found !
but yeah, some countries were definitely robbed this year
Tbh we may just get more juries
5 people per country just really isn't enough for their votes to be fair and diverse
More juries, mixed age and ofc should have a diverse musical background

one of the non stat but really incredible thing to see from eurovision is the set change videos some people take in the arena in between songs.
you don't see any of it on tv of course but everything is timed to the second (it's about one minute long i think? unless there's one of the couple of longer breaks where they roll out some silly video or interview someone in the green room then it's like 4) and you see the whole crew wheeling the different props in and out of the stage without bumping into each other while the artists are also exiting and entering+taking their starting positions for the next performance.
Even if Electric Callboy would be representing Germany next year, they could play the best Song but despite would be the last again. It doesn't matter Germany will be last without a reason.
And Finnland was robbed.
I'm still upset about Lord of the Lost being completely steamrolled by the terrible political voting! Definitely one of the best songs & performances of the ESC! I gave them all my votes from Hong Kong plus many, many others I know, wondering where those votes went?!
dont worry Laord of the lost dont need to worry about anythign they had fun there big band had number 1 in the charts in germany tour in europe + international . they are big festival band they just didi it for fun said they would do it again
@@catymoonlightlove241 Just flew halfway around the world to see them in Stockholm! Finally I got to see their show live & they were on FIRE! Amazing energy!
Im german and I didn't even realize that Esc was happening this year, wait I know the lord of the lost and I didn't even knew they were performing at the Event lmao. Probably the best act we ever had.
I discovered Lord of the Lost last year when they toured with Iron Maiden, loved their stuff and was super happy for them to be there and them getting last was kinda upsetting.
I think they had some of the most wholesome Eurovision-months out of all of them, covering all tracks presented, doing interviews, etc. but I guess dance pop/ballads are still more mainstream
at 2018 Hungary had a metal performance too...once in my life i was proud
Kinda wild that lord of the lost, a band known world wide, came last
Well not first time it happened. Last year Finland had The Rasmus there and they weren't last, but they got like only 30 points being almost last I think.
You forget that ESC is (even tho they deny it) incredibly political. Countries vote for Countries they like.
Germany is not liked. Even if it pains me to say this, we are still hated by Europe.
Funny enough we pay 3/4 of the entire thing. The other years I said "yeah ok its a running gag and those entries where bad" but after this I want my taxpayers money not invested in it. Europe can see how they gonna pay that Show.
I'm Swedish, and I thought our song was super weak. It's a boring EDM-pop-ballad-by-numbers basically. Her voice sounded super off as well, and I don't think we deserved the win, but I mean, it was generic, and the average person likes generic shit.
But yeah Finland went hard, they deserved the win!
Metal as a whole has been getting so much bigger lately. The thing that really convinced me of this lately is an old dickeydines video where they compared bands monthly listeners, and nearly all of them went up a pretty good amount. For example emmure was at like 300,000 or something like that, and now they're at over 1,000,000 as of this video
Voyager is an amaaazing prog metal Band!!!
This year was quite interesting but even past editions were really cool in terms of alternative/metal bands😍 I just mention few bands I've discovered and love: Hatari, Blind channel, AWS and Go_a 🤘
Bro… when I saw Lordi win in 2006 I was like 5 years old! Saw then live with Sabaton and Babymetal 2 weeks ago in Stockholm and man it still slaps hahahah
Also we had a great metalcore entry in Sweden in 2012 with Dead by April! Good shit!
Omg yes Nik!!!! Thanks for this video! We also got Blind Channel in 2021.
Violent Pop boys who live the Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous 🖤
Europe loves metal. USA forgot what it is.
Voyager are our local Prog Metal band. They open for like every international metal band that plays here in Perth, so i've seen em live like 10+ times. Awesome band, but I honestly really like their old cheesy power metal stuff :P
I Am The Revolution is still my favorite from them.
@@sauliruottu5871 Completely agree! On Run From the World might be the first 7/8 riff I ever learnt on guitar too, so I have a soft spot for that song.
As a Portuguese fanatic with eurovision for 2 decades now I highly recommend you take a look at Hungary in 2018.
AWS - Viszlát Nyár is the band and song. It's in my metal playlist! Very good
Dude Voyager slaps so hard you should check out their album called Ghost Mile it's a pure djent and prog metal record and it's great. Super underrated band
People are confusing of LOTL genre as theres a lot of pop and only screamo. Technically they're gothic metal and their latest album are much more glamrock since they do every album differently.
Plus LOTL deserved a lot more than that, but what I'm happy is that they gained a lot of more fans and more reckonigion.
Bruh I loved the German one 😂😂
I've been following Eurovision since like 2017, it's an absolute blast every year
I watch it since the year 2000, zero regrets any given year .D
I loved the metal of this year. I even covered Lord of the Lost. It’s not usually that heavy but i hope it starts getting heavier over time, good songs this year
They werent metal but Nik should totally react to Croatia's entry for Eurovision.....
it's for the first time ever that i knew a band prior to them taking part in eurovision, and damn lord of the lost deserved so much better cause they're the only band on there that i actually listen to
I watch Eurovision every year, it started as a family tradition but in the last years I mainly enjoy finding new bands through it. This year Voyager and Käärija were my favorites, a few years ago Hungary had a post-hardcore band called AWS and Finland also had Blind Channel who even went on tour with Electric Callboy. Iceland had Hatari in 2019 and Italy of course had Maneskin in 2021. Those are all acts I enjoyed very much, who are amazing to see live and who I would've never discovered (or not that soon at least) without the ESC.
I was in the arena in the final and heck, the crowd went nuts for Finland, LOTL and Voyager. Great to hear people sing "Blood and Glitter" who were clearly not usual fans of the metal genre. Also nice to have colleagues/friends who are now diving headfirst into hitherto unexplored music styles. I love Eurovision as a fun, inclusive and open event. This year had a good chaotic mix (Croatia is still my Nr.1 WTF moment 😂).
💚Käärijä got so massive televote points that it's insane that he didn't win! But he made history: second for most televoting points EVER in Eurovision history!!!!🤯💚
Most televote points got Ukrain last year Kalush Orchestra - Stefania🧡
Im living in finland and day mefore eurovision final I went to buy some green makeup..I was not there alone buying green makeups😂 and everybody was so happy and talk how they need Käärijä colors😂 and saying "Have a good Eurovision!" 💚 And I went to buy green top .. and in that line I was not alone with my green top😂💚 and everywhere you go you see statues with green Käärijä boleros and he is just everywhere! 💚 Damn this Eurovision spring was amazing💚
Also didn't you guys release Cha Cha Cha ice cream and pina colada? amazing actually 😭
You gotta check out Voyager's album Colours In The Sun - it's a few years old but was on a ton of best of lists a few years back, proggy, djenty, it's great!
Didn't expect a video about eurovision from you, but I'm glad you made it. Feels like eurovision has come a long long way in 15 years, the variety is what makes it great IMO. Excited for next year!
I was on the floor for the final. Loved it. Käärijä was robbed and everyone in the arena knew he was. Hence all the chanting we did! We could see it coming.
I was super disappointed when Germany didn't do well :(
there were so much metal it was amazing
Tbf, the band that introduced Breakdowns to Eurovision was actually an Hungarian band called AWS with the song "Viszlát Nyár" in Eurovision 2018, that breakdown was a banger
there was a metalcore band called AWS from hungary who played in 2018, that was the first “breakdown” i remember hearing on national TV lmao
Lord of lost is not metalish they are very much metal. More specially overall industrial and gothic metal with other genres mixed in
With the occasional classical album 👌
Worth mentioning - only vocals are live in eurovision.
I'm surprised people find kaarija more similar to electric callboy than rammstein's Tattoo. I think Kaarija even sampled the riff, considering how big of a rammstein fan he is, even has their logo (kind of) on his chest. He didn't win wurovision, but peoples hearts!
As a Finn nothing makes me more sad and angry than this, as a long time käärijä fan, this years eurovision could have been our only good chance in years to come, loreen has been there twice which is really really unfair as she has all the love from juries and also fans already, also abba will have their 50th birthday next year so whats better than hostong eurovision in sweden 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
It must be staged. It is too perfect to happen without something suspicious going on behibd the scenes.
Also Sweden’s song was the most generic pop song this year, that I would easily see playing in malls and stores.
@@matetin It's called a coincidence.
@@matetin It's not staged, as much as I absolutely adore Cha Cha Cha
I think it's just that Sweden just decided to pull out all the stops and picked Loreen
Also we all know the juries have always favoured pop songs/ballads lol
@@flaccid6pancake Probably not, but this year Swden’s favouritism was so big that I think something needs to change
Got the chance to see the semi final 2 show and Australia were amazing live the whole crowd were behind them !
Well, its always funny to see Americans trying to understand ESC but I think the top was that Käärijä is a person, not a band...
And you forgot to talk about Let 3 "mama sc" 👀
I'm so glad you've reacted to this. Voyager are some of my mates from Western Australia and I'm so so proud of them ❤
There have been a few rock acts in ESC over the years. Check out Hungary 2018, Iceland 2019, Norway 2005, Finland 1982
I never thought id see Nik talking about eurovision pfpfpfp. Also do recommend Hungary's entry in 2018 that is the closest the contest has ever gotten to metalcore. It didn't score that high in the final but it qualified
Also they did try to make a version of Eurovision but it was the US states but they didn't promote it at all and it got canceled after 1 year. Also no metal entries so.
American song contest is still around actually
It's just that nobody cares about it
Can't forget about Lordi winning it in 2006 🤘 I think they might have been my forst introduction to metal 😁
The first finalist song entry for Finland this year has a THICC breakdown in it! Worth checking out for sure
Cyan Kicks - Dancing With Demons (with production by Dan Lancaster as well who's worked with BMTH)
On the topic of heavier music in Eurovision you should probably check out Icelands song in 2019 called Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra - Grand Final - Eurovision 2019
