    Slaf actually is playing more playmaking role than goalscorer role so far in this tournament. i mean, here in slovakia all fans expect goals from him, but he plays good hockey and created lot of scoring chances for his linemates. lets see what tomorrows game vs USA will bring

      Pure Lunacy.
      Top line minutes and PP 1st unit should be around 80 points or more.
      The Habs lost over 30 games by 1 goal.
      They didn't make the playoffs due to this kids poor output.
      What's worse is he's choking Caulfields output.
      Suzuki started ignoring him after the All star break and started producing.
      Learn the game.
      Slavkosky is about as good as Kotkiniemi.

    Slaf is becoming my favorite player, haven't bought a jersey since Richer #44, I might one with his name, the guy is so young just a kid now, imagine at 26. Yikes, I'm scared for the rest of the Nhl.

    Slaf is more then just a good player. Hes a character. Caufield is playing fantastic. Guhle is playing fantastic. They were great. Caufield could be like Stamkos where hes a sniper who also is a good playmaker. Maybe not as good but who knows! I believe Marty even said that too. Hes super good.

    Shane Who? Slaf IS exactly who the Habs need and it's getting clearer and clearer. Seems this season he's playing a lot more with his head up too. With Suzuki and Caulfield, this could be among the more dynamic lines in the league next season. A little more secondary scoring would be nice too to keep opponents attention more divided on who to watch when playing Montreal.

    Hi, Josh, Jesse, 4U2, Tony & all my friends.
    I hope everyone is doing great. I had to edit my post because I put down that I lived in Montreal and surrounding cities from 1969-1972. It should have said from 1969 to 1980. I Lived in downtown Montreal for the first three years. The surrounding areas for nine more years, before moving to Niagara Falls. I met a lot of those same players for the next 6 years at the Molson NHL Slo-pitch tournament. I knew the mayor's daughter during this time and would get a VIP bracelet. I hung out with the Habs & Detroit Red Wings players all night. Molson Brewery sponsored the tournament. They also would supply the Molson Canadian & Molson Gold beers. They would take the beer away around 3 am every night. But, Guy Carbonneau every year would fill up a couple of green garbage cans full of ice and beers for after the Molson's crew left. I met so many of the Canadiens and Red Wings players through that tournament. I also met most of the Buffalo Sabres through the owner of the bar named Romby’s. I started drinking there when I was 14 years old. I had a full beard and mustache by then. He played for the Sabres during the seventies. His name was Doug Rombo. On my 18th birthday, I had my party at the bar and told Doug that I just turned 18. Great guy. He thought I was of age 4 years earlier. Hahaha!! Have a great night everyone. 🥳🤯😂

    Kapanen got 5 goals in the 3 first games in the MEN's World Championship. Just to give some perspective: Johnny Gaudreau, Erik Karlsson, Victor Hedman are currently behind him in the current stats). I'd say it's a decent start for a prospect.

    Zegras is signed for two more seasons with a 5.75mill cap hit and still RFA. We are not fully contending till then so it’s not as risky as people make it seem. It really depends on what it will cost to trade for him cause even if he doesn’t fit our team.. he could be a trade asset. Not saying we should get him but just clearing out the PLD contract comparison. I wouldn’t give Guhle for him.

      Cauliflower and Zeggy need to click here right away before that is even looked at its been entertained but not at the cost of anything substantial... i think if that happens we need to know Zeggy wants to play for the heart not the money... eh....

    • @powers1500
      @powers1500 Před 10 dny

      Why is it that a young exciting center like Zegras is being shopped around the ligue ??? One thing is sure, whichever team getting him will pay a steep price. Zegras is a crowd pleaser but also a pain in the rear end for a coach !!!

    • @Image1Nation
      @Image1Nation Před 10 dny +1

      @@powers1500 Zegras isn’t being shopped cause he’s a liability, he’s being shopped cause he has trade value and the ducks need a top pairing player. For example I like Matheson and think his offens justify the screw ups but his trade value is as high as it will ever get right now, he won’t be in his prime during our window and you need to give to get so Matheson should definitely be shopped just to see what we can get.
      Btw I’m not advocating for a Zegras trade. I’m just saying that if HuGo does trade for him then it’s because they see real potential and not just cause he’s a 2019 draft pick.

    It's interesting because if there's one thing that we here in Slovakia kind of "blame" Slaf for is not being humble. Sure, he's good, and we love him, but he still has a lot to learn. Some of the comments he made during the game he would’ve never said in the NHL, especially towards the referees. He's been playing fine so far, but he's also made quite a few stupid mistakes which could’ve cost us dearly.

    Kapanen will be really interesting to evaluate at camp, see how he compares in readiness to an Owen Beck who is pretty much at the same stage of his developement. Owen is better in playmaking and creating off the rush chances, Oliver better in front of the net on second wave plays... I think there might be some room for one of these 2 to make the team a year in advance. If not, a year in the SHL for Kapanen wouldn't be bad at all, it's the most intense league in Europe (along with the swiss NL) with a faster pace overall than Liiga and even more hard fought battle around and in front of the net, so that would be almost as great a preparation for what's to come for him than a season with Laval.

    Just to get some perspective from Europe and Slovakia. Slaf is definitely not that celebrated by hockey experts, media and national team management after cursing refs and making fun of opponent. Many see it as very unnecessary and disrespectful. Here in Slovakia, we would be growing up looking at our idols like Hossa, Demitra, Satan, Chara, Gaborik, Stastny... (list is long) and we would always value paying back to opponents by delivering the result and leaving the heart out on ice, but humble, never disrespecting others. In fact that was exactly what we've seen from Slaf this season in MTL, so he earned our hearts as clear future leader that builds upon shoulders of our former stars. That's why some ppl are rather surprised by some of his expressions in last 2 games. Swedish TV-expert Erik Grunqvist, Slovak GM Miro Satan and our coach (Canadian) Craig Ramsay were very unimpressed and the last 2 are trying to calm him down. Ramsay said that it is never good idea to fight refs and also tens tactic does not build on creating conflicts. If Canadian player would show crying gesture as Slaf did, he would be most hated player in Europe, but Slaf is getting away with it for now. Some even like it for sure, but definitely very polarising. Hockey experts here in Europe are saying Slaf/Slovakia will definitely get in trouble in matches against big opponents, because now every team knows that Salfs fuse is very short, so they will easily throw out our best player.
    Funnily - just before Worlds started and our (SVK) managers closed the roster, they were very unsure if to keep Pospisil in, because of his ability to spark conflicts. The guy who is seen as the most positive surprise of the season for Calgary Flames coach. And after 2 games, we can see that Pospisil is actually delivering what Ramsay wants him to do. Leading 3rd line better than any other centre, being very physical, but staying out of trouble. Hopefully Slaf will get his temper a bit under control. We hope he can become future captain of Chara´s caliber.
    Cheers to Montreal.

So we could offer something real good like Guhle and swap our 5th pick and maybe a 3rd pick. That way Hawks could still draft for Lindstrom or Catton that would help them alot plus they would have a good D in Guhle.
