This scene was so heartbreaking. Seeing how much pain Elijah was in broke not only every viewers heart, but also his family’s. You can see Marcel looking away, Rebekah trying not to cry, and even Kol looked heartbroken. This scene was so emotional. Amazing acting.
The fact that even kol who was so mad with elijah for sacrificing davina felt sorry means a lot

honestly this was some beautiful acting normally reactions to deaths are soo shit and I am so just wowed by that acting you can really see Elijah losing a love someone he cared about deeply ahh.

I've watched the entire series over again and Hayley's death still makes me cry. She was such a vital part of the show and the way she went out was horrible and noble at the same time. She sacrificed herself to save her daughter,but experienced a painful death by burning to ashes. I will never get over and forgive the writers for killing her,Klaus,and Elijah off.
Lol seeing Hayley die broke my heart but as a writer I understood it. Hope's story needed to start, Hayley's & Klaus adventures are over.
They probably told the writers to cut their characters off

I think all fans of the show feel this way. I also feel however, that after a thousand years, there had to be an end for this family, but the last season felt really rushed. Like they had a time restraint, and had to push the ending. I feel it could have been just as dramatic with a more positive outcome. It's horrible that Hope's life brought about the families destruction.
The fact Marcel couldn't look n Kol was in tears just adds more heartbreak to this scene. Very powerful scene.

In all my years of vampire diaries and the originals. I have never cried as much as I did in this scene. Broke my heart, poor Elijah he will never forgive himself and he will no longer be the same man

But little did we know in just a couple weeks, he’d be dead. His death was the most nonsensical of the entire show. Even Daniel thought so. Worst ending ever. Julie has a thing for killing everyone. No doubt Alaric will be on the chopping block when Legacies comes to an end!!

There are different ways to have a character not be in a show besides killing them off. ESPECIALLY in a show with magical comas and ghosts.

Then there’s Elijah. Even Daniel Gillies said WTF to that ending and his death. Elijah was a gentleman, he woulda stayed to watch out over Hope, he felt he owed her after her mom’s death. I have no doubt Rick is next.. possibly Caroline. No one is safe with Julie! I’m nervous to watch her newest show. Although with Sheriff Forbes writing it with her, I have hope lol. The Vampire Academy.. we’ll see!
When Hayley died, I paused the episode out of shock and then started crying. When this scene came on I couldn't see the screen through my tears! The raw emotion of Elijah, Rebekah holding back her tears, Marcel looking away, Kol even losing his breath and his heart breaking for his brother and then Klaus' heart breaking. This scene always devastates me and makes me cry just as hard every time.

These actors and actresses are so underrated. This is phenomenal acting absolutely amazing. Joseph Morgan’s acting ability is so underrated, he is so amazing at this role and acting. The way he acted oml. Bravo
A lot of the actors and actresses from the CW shows are fantastic and unbelievably talented, but they're overlooked because the CW shows are just seen as melodramatic soap operas for teenagers. It is ridiculous they don't get the credit and respect they've earned.

In all of the vampire/supernatural series that I’ve ever seen, Elijah remembering everything especiallly about Hayley was the most heartbreaking scene ever. What a powerful performance by Daniel Gilles.

Actually, the cause of her death was not exactly Elijah, it was Hope herself who locked her mother in the coffin at the first place.

He had the choice to help her. Hayley looked directly at Elijah and said his name. He KNEW he loved her and although he didn’t have his memories, letting someone you loved in the past get killed just because you don’t remember them is incredibly selfish. Now Hope lost her mother and soon after that her father falls too. (yes I know Elijah dies as well.) He could’ve saved someone from the pain of losing a loved one ESPECIALLY a parent, but no, he chose to stand up for the wrong family. A family he has known for seven years compared to 1000+ years of family and “always and forever”.

When i saw this my heart broke ive watched Elijah since season 2 of tvd and i was in love with him and then the originals started and he met hayley after that he changed so much and i fell in love with him more and i feel like he wont ever be the same 😭😭 rip hayley but Elijah and hayley is always and forever😪😥😭

This is definitely the saddest moment of season 5 to me! Maybe even saddest tbh. I just hate seeing Elijah so heart broken and Rebekah and Kol crying with him is definitely even more sad. Plus the music 😭
No matter how many times I watch and rewatch this scene of Elijah remembering Hayley absolutely brings me to tears. It’s heartbreaking, as well as when Hayley was killed after she gave birth to Hope, and Elijah was so broken-hearted, when he says, “ I let her in, I don’t let anyone in..,” I just lost it.. Then when he saw her alive, omggg it was amazing. Their story is simply epic.

This hit even harder IMO because in this scene the brother who they always look to as having it all together, the one who is the glue that holds them all together… completely falls apart when he realizes he lost the love of his life. (I was crying so hard I looked like I had an allergic reaction when watching this scene.)
