    Great content for this model in 2024. For it's intended pupose, the bike is still rock solid till today. I did a few upgrades on my bike over the years which improved it's riding significantly. I had a Nitron rear shock to beef up the rear end. It helped during 2 up riding, braking and low speed steering. I also replaced my stock brake hoses to steel braided. I have been thinking on replacing the exhaust but never got to it so far. The only downside when compared with modern fuel injected bikes is the fuel efficiency. One small trade off to a easy low maintenance budget bike. Guess we cant have it all. Cheers!

    I was born in that town....it's nice to see it through your camera lens :) hopefully one day I'll stop by with my AT.
    Your content is truly good, has a good vibe how to say, excellent video editing. I hope you will make a bit more videos, maybe a few video clips with tips and tricks on how to ride offroad.
    Good luck my Honda brother :)

    great video wich says a lot about this bike. I'm about to get one for myself too, because here in Greece there are many off road options that my Suzuki V-strom 650 can't handle!

    I have the same bike. And as you said they are great but the fuel consumption is high. I get around 5.5l per 100km. Also is the mivv exhaust a lot louder than stock? I am thinking of getting it. Also I have a valve noise when the bike warms up and this is my first bigger bike so i dont know exactly how much sound the valves should make and when i baught it the previous owner showed me recepits of the valve clearances getting done so i assume its normal to hear a bit of noise. Its not loud or anything but louder than on a 125. Anyway ill check the valves when i next do a full service.

    • @nomadmotorcycle
      @nomadmotorcycle  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi. Yes, the fuel consumption is a downside. Regarding the Mivv exhaust
      It's a lot louder when you remove the DB killer, which I did. With the DB killer it's almost as quiet as the stock exhaust. I think this noise is normal. I can hear it on my bike also and on this bike the valves were never checked. I plan to do it at the next service interval.

    Have you noticed any difference in fuel consumption with the aftermarket exhaust? Is it better or worse than the factory one?

    • @nomadmotorcycle
      @nomadmotorcycle  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I do not now, since i have the bike I got the Mivv exhaust. But i plan to remove the cat and put k&n filter. Everyone says, that drops fuell consumption by more than 0,5l.

    Hi! I have the 2006 Transalp. I count on around 400km from a full tank at legal speeds. I love my bike except for one thing: wind noise. I see you have an additional wind shield, is that something that is available or have you had it custom made? I rented a 2016 Africa Twin a couple years back. The wind noise on that was horrific. At 120km/h on the motorway my helmet vibrated so much that my vision got blurred! The fuel gauge on my bike is unreliable as well. It stays at around full for a long time, then starts falling rapidly. Thanks for sharing your review!

      @nomadmotorcycle  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi... 400 km is very good. I think i could not get this range. Yes i have an additional wind screen and it makes all the difference. The Taller wind screen is not helping. But this small wind deflector removes all the buffeting and wind noise. This is the only thing that you need and you will be very happy. You are welcome.

    About being fuel injected - I have transalp 700 that is EFI, and there it's electronics does not compensate the fact that overall it's worse bike than 650. My 700 bottoms out very often, it feels much more heavier, clearance is lower and front fork is something out of the scooter. With 700 honda went for the tarmac/asphalt adventure, it's good for traveling around Europe but only good single tracks and absolutely no off-road. In other words, it would be nice to have Transalp 650 with EFI but Transalp 700 is no way a solution to this problem. It's completely different bike and to be honest I don't think 700 has a place in Transalp line. Look for 750 if you want a continuation of 650. My friend has 650 and keeps it in my garage, that's why I know what is 650 and how it rides. Please get sure you can remove cat. I had to cut out contents of it to remove restriction of gasses but could not remove it because of local laws. Make sure you can do it. For me no-cat pipes are not the option (Eastern EU), I would fail MOT instantly.

    • @nomadmotorcycle
      @nomadmotorcycle  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, i complain about that sometimes, even if i don't have a really straightforward reason. My brother in law, has a Transalp 700 which i rode so many times, and i love the way that engine is performing. But i never rode it off road and i always come back to my 650 after riding 700 and keep thinking that i prefer it much more than 700. I agree with you totally. They are completely different bikes and 700 feels much heavier, even after that 659 is also a heavy bike. Honda went away from the Transalp culture with that model. But still, a really great bike to have and ride. Something about these old Honda's is special. I guess that new 750 is a true comeback for Honda. And i sat on the new and it feels much more compact and better than those older ones. Regarding cat it's still legal to do it in my country but i don't know for how long. I can pass the MOT for maybe next year or two. That's why i want to keep the original setup in case i have to revert it to stock.
