    Toyota Prado vs Toyota Kluger. It mightn't be the first thing that comes to mind for you as a new-car customer, but for plenty of people out there this is exactly the decision that needs to be made.
    That's because there is a lot to like about both of these SUVs. They're both Toyota 7 seaters with amazing reputations: the Kluger (known as Highlander in most markets) is the more road-friendly, family-focused SUV and it now comes with a fuel-sipping hybrid powertrain; while the LandCruiser Prado is a serious 4WD with off road chops and a rugged body that is designed for practicality and purpose.
    Family reviewer Nedahl Stelio spent some time in both of these SUVs for single-car reviews (you'll find them on our channel) and in this comparison we're pitting them against each other across our criteria to see which is the best of the two for you.
    From driving to design, interior to efficiency, Nedahl explains whether the diesel 4x4 Prado Kakadu or the petrol-electric hybrid Kluger Grande makes a better option for families looking for a new seven seater Toyota.

    Bit like comparing apples and pears, the Kluger is a hybrid soft roader that tows not much, the diesel Prado is a heavy duty 4 wheel drive that can tow and go anywhere. I have an earlier model Kakadu, it feels bullet proof is a very, comfortable long distance cruiser and totally trouble free over 7 years of ownership.

    I think the comparison should be kluger and fortuner as it falls in the similar price bracket except for the grande model. One is AWD and the other a proper 4wd.

    Got a Kluger GX hybrid recently as RAV4 has an year of wait period. Bit noisy during uphill. Not sure why. Driving is easy and smooth. Nice to feel the silent driving in EV mode.

    At least people of 6 ft and up will not hit their head against the 5th door of the Prado. Pity it wasn't shown if the Kluger has a (temporary) spare wheel. Nice color on the LC.

    Not sure how these two cars are comparable. The Prado is far more of a serious 4WD, more along the lines of a Landcruiser (like a baby brother of the Landcruiser). The Kluger is literally the complete and utter opposite. To me they literally aren't even comparable in the same market. The Fortuner or Rav4 vs the Kluger makes far more sense.

    Prado my love. For 97k fully loaded with 18 inch all terrains (285/65/18) it is the best macho hunked up hulk size suv . Best for Males but females will also feel like queen of the road.

    Which one is quiter and has a softer ride?

      It depends where you are going to drive the vehicle. In suburbs, towns and around the city the Kluger obviously has a more plush and pleasant ride, more acceleration etc. whereas out in trails or uneven terrain the Prado is more comfortable as it has the suspension to dampen bumps.
      This is why you don't compare these two

    You can't take a Kluger over to Fraser Island, the Prado does it easily.... They are 2 very different beasts, why compare?

    • @craigthacker
      @craigthacker Před 2 lety +1

      Because they are both 7 seaters, both all-wheel drive, both similar price if you go one spec down on the Prado. People with families that go camping will be interested in both.
