I stayed overnight there a few times. Dad had a remote farm in Leeu Gamka area. Lovely town and very friendly people. Fantastic food.

Very nicely done. I have not been there for some years - do all the restaurants close on Monday night still? Is the Brakdakkie still there - one of my favorite places to overnight.

That's a whole different story/video. Mixing up the two would detract from the splendor of each attraction.

My in laws live there. The biggest issue with older people in Prince Albert, is that real medical care requires going to George, or shipping them over to Cape Town. Also, I've known the town 20 years now (as long as I've been married) and sadly it's not what it was two decades ago. Great for a weekend away, but I would not want to live there long term.

First time for me visiting the town… I really enjoyed my stay and loved the charm of the old town… But I agree medical services can be a problem for the old age.

@@videopic1235 I probably come across overly negative :-) I've been visiting there since around 1998, and one thing that really makes me sad is how much drier the town has become, how the old "leivoor" (water canals) no longer runs with water, and some of the shops (eg Ortons) that closed over the years. Of course new ones opened up again, and the old Lewis furniture store somehow stays around. The lone supermarket became an OK grocer, and then a Spar. On the upside, a hardware store opened in that time, which helps. Before then it was only the coop. The coop is fairly well stocked. And the pharmacy has a good selection as well. So it is a mixed bag, certainly.

@@plonkster Every small Karoo town has its pros and cons but I must say that Prince Albert has stood out over all the others in regards with cleanliness and services offered. Medical facilities is a common concern in the smaller Karoo towns. Prince Albert's Hospital however has won a price as the best small town Hospital in the karoo and recently they were also equipped with a brand new X-ray room and eqiupment.
