De Rust
De Rust is a small village at the gateway to the Klein Karoo, South Africa. The name is Dutch and literally translates to "The Rest", referring to the town's original purpose of being a resting place for settlers en route through the challenging terrain of a nearby Swartberg Gorge.

Wonderful time,the Hartenbos trips. First outing as toddler, around 1948. Then every year.! The best, the trip from Otjiwarongo, old SWA for 7 years,then back to the Cape.! Trains were as "common" as your best kettie.LOL. Best times ever.!! Now,? memories and dreams.!!

Wonderful news that this railway has been restored and Jenny (built when I was born!) is puffing along happily! Well done to the Brothers Three! I remember setting my watch on the Outeniqua Tjoe Tjoe's passing Langvlei, some thirty years ago! BUT: your excellent video is spoiled by irrelevant music. The real music comes from the rails, the wheels, the connecting rods and the steam whistle!

Hidden Gem
I was born here in 1953, grew up here and spend the best years of my life here. Unfortunately, I had to grow up when we moved to Paarl so my dad could make more money. The Mossel Bay of those days was much better than the one today. Too many people today and too many changes. Dankie ou Mosselbaai! I now live in tropical Cairns, Australia.
