Seems like the performance on the Yamaha can be attributed to the feature that Giant calls "Smart Assist" that controls the power delivery. In other words it's not that the motor is more powerful but that the Yamaha-based control program demonstrates real world performance benefits.
i have giant yamaha syncdrive sport 80nm 2018 model power is so crazyy
Got 85 so a now what you meen giant rules.a also have syncdrive but a have 85 nm ble mouten bike ..have not yet met a hill he want clime
Both of these motors are way better than Shimano. So you really can't go wrong with these.
Cant help but wonder how much of this is magic taking place in the software. The assist could go non-linear at different effort levels just to think of one thing... interesting times!
I do not fully think it was an overall inconsistency on the bosch. First run is always gonna be without warmed up legs.
To fully get the answers always do a run before the trials, as it will get better results.
what cadence, what gear ratios, what settings? You need to run a test on a steep incline at low cadence.
it is steep you cant see in the video.
Yamaha rocks in the low cadence. It is slower at high rpm. Like Diesel engines😅
The problem I have with the Bosch system, is that when I get tired or my knees start to hurt I have to back off the power to the pedals which means the motor also backs off on the power and this seems really counterintuitive.
I don't know if the yamaha is the same ?
There needs to be some kind of boost system that the bike can keep assisting you at full power going up hills when you get tired.
My Bosch is 2013 and thinking of going the DIY route again because I can have a throttle and control the power I want when I need it, this E.U law of no throttle is a joke when you consider all the e-scooters flying around the place.........
I keep hearing about EU laws pertaining to motorized/electric bicycles in the comments. It seems like there is a crazy amount of regulating going on with these things. Are there any groups that are trying to fight back against all this BS? Any politicians that try to do anything about it? From what I can tell, it seems like everyone hates the laws they keep coming out with and sounds like people are getting fed up with it. I live in the US and even I am getting pissed off about it lol.
@@TheMastadon1 I don't think there's any fight to bring throttles or higher top speed to ebikes, even 30 Km/hr would make a big difference.
Luckily though most of the higher powered Brose, Bosch, Yamaha etc, ebike systems are well above 250 watts and probably closer to 800w- 1 Kw at this point, why do people think there's no power meters on these "legal" ebikes ? lol. All the law makers know that the power well exceeds 250 watts, there's no way Bosch's 85 Nm system, for example, is only 250 watts...... but the key thing they must abide by here is the 25 Km/hr speed cut off.
Is yours the bosh Cx or bosh performance line?

You wrote the wrong spelling in the thumbnail for YAMAHA
Mooga Oomgawa!
GIANT IS THE BEST 85 NM IM 74 KILOS , PERFEKT 👍👍👍BIKE FOR MY WEIGHT
My giant fathom YAMAHA e+3 SYNCRONE drive sport is 85 nm,and this only 80😮😮😮😮.
How come you don't use a Yamaha ebike?
None available at the moment we will have one in march.
@@alexbiketester Let me know if you need help getting one. (Drew Engelmann @ Yamaha Bicycles - USA)
@@drewengelmann7820 hey drew, im told there will be bikes soon, I would love to have one for a while to do some more content, awesome motor.
Shame you didn't use the yamaha pwx 3
It's good to see a non top of the range motors performance....
Amazing how no review(especially on CZcams), do not mention: Over-heating. The pw-x2, definitely gets so hot(going uphill), that my motor has been damaged. Now I have the S2 model on a Haibike hardtail 29er. Gets hot. Still functional. But the 720 watt battery, is untouchable depending on mode use and air temperature. And the battery definitely does not charge fully, after two months of ownership. Truly: if ya don't have a full-time job or a big bank account, stay-away from e-bikes. The promotional review junk of CZcams, is to get you to buy. None dare discuss the many negatives.
We can do reviews long term, in general I have had very few (Alex) motor issues through dodgy motors.
I have that motor on a 2020 Giant etrance, no issues, 3 rd owner, 2000 miles, and I am heavy, and average fit. Maybe it depends on the bike frame/ engine case and software? Giant powered by Yamaha...
Many discuss negatives , mostly in the comments secrion. That is how I avoided Brose and Shimano motors. Bosch gen 4 and Yamaha pw2 would be the more reliable. Also you may buy a bike new or ligjtly used and sell it after 2 yrs and buy another one. Today even expensive cars are made not to last very long time. It sad, but we can adapt.
A have a giant 85 nm and a was faster then my friend upp hill ,he had bosch 85 nm ,he ment it was 95 nm but a dont know if it even exist a 95 nm bosch.....he was so angry when a beat him to the Top...Giant Yamaha is the 1 Bosch have more noise also🫵🫵🙂
Never bosh...error 504
Maby the fastest fit your better
Nicely done that the music kicks in so loud that you cannot hear the motor. Great review , NOT.
well, this test mean nothing, faster? you can change so many things in app, also Bosch and Yamaha have different max assistance level, 340% and 400% . comparing so called faster on a 200meteres looks so stupid. sorry dude
It doesn't matter about assist levels, the point is out of the box how do they perform? It's not groundbreaking science here its a fun experiment.
250w yah sure buddy
