      Don't cheap out on some pansy 5000K Led light bar. Do it RIGHT if you want to have a chance at growing whatever plants you want.

      What's your take on LEDs, I'm using LEDs in a little 5 galloan. Some plants like Crypts and dwarf hair grass are lasting and more exotic plants melt away. Also have duck weed and flouromax subsrate. What's the life span of different lights? I spent a lot of money on full spectrum grow lights and they have short life spans.

      @@allgamingnetwork9448 "You have to be able to manage the light or limit how much the tank gets and you have to use fast growing plants. The window my tank is in front of is an energy saving window and doesn't let in a lot of heat or cold and limits the light spectrum. My tank has a dirt substrate and I don't add any fertilizer. ✌️

    We screwed this this up and missed one the graphs of the photo synthetic range....The rainbow graph you see with the big peek in the green is only what humans see. Plants see the opposite that’s why plants appear green to us. They rejected the green light

    Iron,Iron,Iron and then more Iron gluconate. MUST USE! in non Co2 aquariums. Seachem's.just performs spectacularly vs Nursery Iron that only makes algae worse without doing a thing for your aquatic plants.
    My Theory? Seachem also uses something in there to really makes plants grow and algae go running..maybe they put a tad of Flourish in the Iron bottle without listing it on the directions..its not medicinal so why tell the competition?
    I'm using sunlight. If you want to see my 240 gallon,take a look at Tropical Fish Forums under the aquarium journals section. Photos of happy plants getting sun..and some minor setbacks from Petco fish...But not affecting the plants. Sword plants kill for Iron!..so do plants with color!..try it.

    If I'm getting some algae growth on my new dirted tank. I want to dim down the lights. However I want to make sure the Dwarf hair grass gets enough light. Should I put light intensity @100%for 6 hours or 50%for 8 hours.

    After my 48” finnex ray2 broke I looked for a cheaper alternative and ended up buying a LED garage light for like $30 on amazon the thing is a beast and outputs more light than the ray2 I had which was over 3x the price.

    Yo man, always love watching. You're a breath of fresh air, & I'm always learning .You'd make such an awesome teacher in a classroom, just sayin. I'm realizing at 44, I should've majored in Biology. I've Always been fascinated by aquatics in general, freshwater & salt equally, and what takes place there. I remember my Jr. college Biology teacher giving every student a drop of pond water under a microscope, so we could see the Diaphnea? being eaten by this medusa looking thing (forgot name). AMAZING! You're amazing, I can learn all day. You're not pretentious, or stuffy. Please keep doin your thang! I know if i'm benefiting by you're style of teaching, & personality, then others are too. My tank is places on balcony and it receives direct sunlight (not the entire aquarium) in morning as the sun rises for 30mins and stays in shade all day except when the sun sets, it receives a lil direct sunlight only on the substrate but i’m planning adding floaters. My question is should I turn my artificial light on day? Or is the light in balcony enough? Or turn my light at 6pm til 10pm? I have no idea what to do.

    • @Dustinsfishtanks
      @Dustinsfishtanks  Před 3 lety +1

      It really depends on the plant load. How do the plants look.? It’s hard to answer. If the plants are growing healthy and happy like crazy I would leave the light on. The bigger they get the more like they’re going to want. Adding floaters will reduce light at the bottom. The plants have the answer if they’re happy and healthy leave it alone or increase. If there is algae decrease

    • @JesAbella
      @JesAbella Před 3 lety

      @@Dustinsfishtanks thank you. I’m just concerned of maybe it isn’t necessary to turn on the light because it’s receiving good ambient light from the sky tho its not direct sun light and maybe its good to turn the artificial light from 5-6pm also conserving energy lol.

    Well my review on the light for the price it's pretty lack luster. The light is a beast and put out a hell of alot of light but my iv had it for 2 weeks some of my plants do grow alot better but my red plants aren't turning red. Right now I'm torn between the finnex crv and the fluval 3.0. And I believe I'll be sending this light back

    If you want to go cheap do a little more research into exactly what light you are buying. I have bought a lot of lighting that sucked. Recently i bought an led flood light for a nano aquarium. I screwed it into an 8 dollar lamp and it works like a charm. The other lights I bought were 1. More expensive but bad or 2. Says it was made for it but still bad. The flood light cost me, roughly, 10 dollars.
