    By the way, I love your channel. I don't really do this type of craft but it is so fun and inspiring to watch you make these beautiful wands!

    Nice wands. How do they handle? Are they comfortable to use? That creative wand-making kitchen is awesome!

      It depends on what you use and how you place it. Some shells are kinda spiky and not the best for holding

    First of all, i absolutely love your videos! All of them are incredible and inspiring to a fantasy-loving geek like myself, but at the time of posting i noticed that you didn't have a icon for your channel or 'channel art', which is what the backdrop behind your icon is when you click on your channel. I would recommend putting images of some of your incredible crafts on there to draw in new people to your channel and overall making it look more professional!

    First shells were baby Scallop shells. Can't wait to make my first wand as in Tasmania we don't have Hobby Lobby or Michaels or any gem or Crystal shops that I can find so I've ordered all my things on line

    I've been practising on wand-making since watching your videos, and one thing I've really noticed is how easily your glue gun melts spirals into the glue. My glue gun is 40 watts and it absolutely will not do that no matter how long I let it get hot. What's the power rating of your glue gun? I'd really like to make a full staff/walking stick.

    • @magicalcuriosities7062
      @magicalcuriosities7062  Před 4 lety +6

      Yes! Its true. I have 4 glue guns 🤣. Two are regular type with low and high heat settings. The other two are heavy duty type. Surebonder i think is the brand. I have no idea the wattage but the package will say something about heavy duty projects. The trigger will be long.......I just checked and its 60 watt. My blue one is surebonder. I think you can get these at home depot. The other good one is Adtech brand. Pro80 high temp. It says nozzle heats to 380 feremhight. Only one setting so unplugging is how to get it to not be so scorching hot. Which can be a problem somtimes.

    • @NoJusticeNoPeace
      @NoJusticeNoPeace Před 4 lety +4

      Thanks, looks like I'll have to upgrade. I might try seeing if my soldering iron might get hot enough to make spirals first, though.

      @@NoJusticeNoPeace Did it worked with the soldering iron?

    • @NoJusticeNoPeace
      @NoJusticeNoPeace Před 3 lety +3

      @@dario1740 No. It wasn't big enough and just made a huge mess. I ended up buying a dual-setting 40/80 watt glue gun, which does the trick nicely.

    • @magicalcuriosities7062
      @magicalcuriosities7062  Před 4 lety +1

      I often use a matte clear spray lacquer. But on ones with beads or shell down the shaft I paint on an acrylic matte medium by liqitex. Or nail polish if you can find the matte nail polish. Its more expensive toxic smelling and time consuming to use the nail polish. But its the strongest.

    Do you purchase the wooden dowels already made? If so, where? thank you.

    • @magicalcuriosities7062
      @magicalcuriosities7062  Před 4 lety

      Yes. 12 in wooden dowels can be found at any craft store. They are also at Walmart but the packs they come in there are either the mixed pack or one that's all the same size but too skinny for a sturdy wand. So I prefer hobby lobby dowels.

  • @herbalannie7707
    @herbalannie7707 Před 3 lety

    I see off to the side on a plate where it looks like you glue decorated and black painted several dowels. Have you found it easier to do this first and then decorate your top?

    • @magicalcuriosities7062
      @magicalcuriosities7062  Před 3 lety

      Oh! I was so confused I had to rewatch. Those are just some plain wands I was coating with black base coat at the same time as doing my mermaid wands. I never paint before the formation of the wand is finished and dry/cool.
