Thanks again for Watching my Video! #DexStar #Drums #DrumLesson
Really like how you teach. You explain the reasons behind the techniques, and everything makes sense. Thanks for breaking it down so well. You're a great teacher!
Thanks so much!
Holy crap. Using my fingers to support the drumstick was always so confusing to me, but watching this video it finally clicked. Thanks a million.
Youâre a great teacher! I love the helpful distinctions you make!!
Nicely done!!! Very helpful tutorial from an obviously talented musician.
Nice video, cool to see someone else developing the basics to a high level
Great information. This is REALLY useful for improving train beats in country music.
Drums are fun. đ§Ą
There are quite some videos on youtube about how to end a song. I would like to see you say something about ending a song. I have been watching your videos for a while, your teaching is very helpful! Excellent videos! Thanks a lot!
Wonderfully explained video. Thanks so much
Excellent explanation and demonstration.
Awesome. Thanks.
You make it look so effortless.
This dude is awesome. Love your explanation! Thank you so much!
Thanks Dude!!
OMG I LOVE DEX STAR DRUM
Rashid Williams uses that car analogy đŻđđŒ
I have just seen you for the first time, and what you do is very good! Cool!
Dexstar, awesome lesson.
qq. How does the meinl drum practice pad compare to real feel pad when it comes to rebounds and accented taps. Can we hear the accents when the practice pad is not placed on snare drum
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a beginner and went over this for the first time in the lesson I had last week but practicing it tonight after watching your lesson it 'clicked'.
That was a great lesson. I originally learned to play snare with a traditional grip but always found my left hand speed to be a big challenge. I am now much older and would love to make the change to a matched grip. I have witnessed the amazing speed that can be achieved with the matched grip but I fear I am getting too old to make the change. I have had limited success so far but I guess I will keep practicing. Thank you very much for the lesson. You are a very good instructor.
Hi John, my oldest student was 92 so Iâm sure youâll be okay đ thanks for your kind words and hope the videos are useful!! Let me know if you ever need help with anything
Super !!!!! Hallo from Poland
Great video. Simple, short, effective.
Thanks Arun!
Excellent video. I'm new to drums and this was really helpful. I kind of figured speed had to do with the fingers but I couldn't get it down before this.
Hi Michael, Glad it helps, really appreciate the kind words!
Plz do a video on left hand independence because it does the same thing what right hand does and also how to strengthen left hand
I really understand how you teach for some reason. I usually canât relate or understand when people teach online. Are your videos online still free?
I do like your lessons. You never over complicate things.
Best I've seen đ
Thanks dude!
Good stuff D-Star! Love the content, the pace and especially the humor! I have subscribed sir. Now......what do we call the triplet? I vote STRAW - BER - RY. Then we can go apple, apple, strawberry, strawberry, pepperoni, pepperoni. Sound like a winner?
Thank
Love your Animal pillow.
First time im glad yt recommended me a vid
I want the super-shiny car so I stopped here at this drum garage. Hey Dex...pleased to meet ya. Your teaching style is exactly what I was looking for. De-mystify and simplify, in a straightforward approach. BRILLIANT! New sub looking forward to this journey. Thanks!
Thanks so much Joe! Let me know if you ever need help!
Do the combination of everything together
where is the link for the finger control video? thanks
đđ
This is explained so well! Wise words. Rusty car (haha). Cheers from one drum teacher to another.
I don't know! That you know him
aww love the animal cushion hahahaaaaa
Is it ok that I use both wrist and fingers when doing fast single strokes? For example 200 BPM 16th notes
DinoBread 20XX Yes
Where can I find the video about how to hold sticks properly? Thanks.
Good
Pepperoni and apple; I just might try that. But I might also experiment with cappuccino and hotdog.
Sounds tasty đ I pretend hot dogs are full of vitamins and hope for the best!
This technique is great for double stroke as well.
*and with a metronome.

Great video. I tried to look for that Finger Control video but couldnât find it - could you please link that in the description?

Meinl 12inch Thomas Lang Pad
so I quickly understand and quickly understand the tq
fantastic!
Can you please teach us to play old time rock n roll by bob seger thank you
Is it ok if i start from l r l r l r pattern?
Where can I find the video about how to hold sticks properly?
I'm interested in knowing this too, I wasn't able to find it
youtube
So how to do this with traditional grip plz
Any tips on stopping the stick from sliding or completely falling out of your hand when going fast?
Iâm a year late to this comment but what I found when learning finger control was the stick very quickly slid into a unusable position in my off hand. Fixing it was just a matter of practice and internalizing how to make those imperceptible adjustments on the fly to the stick position in my hand that my dominant hand unconsciously made. Sorry but thereâs no magic bullet.
This guy can drum better than me on one drum that I can on a whole drum kit
thats a big oof lmfao
That actually Makes alot of sense. Its much easier to just play rudiments on a single pad then to apply it to several drums and cymbals with different rebounds. One of the things that makes drumset much harder

Deb star I have the same problem as Paul , sticks often slide down and eventually out of my hands, Iâm a dental hygienist and think my problem is related to my job, we were trained to hold our instruments lightly, hard to separate the two. Any suggestions ?
Hi Mary, donât want to risk making you a better drummer but a worse dental hygienist ;-) slight adjustments as you play possibly, plus when you play a single stroke roll in a song itâs very rarely going to be for very long periods of time so donât worry too much about playing fast for a long time
Hey Dex Star, I embedded this video on Thedrumrudiments.com
guy how do you do to train the fingers of your left hand? you must be able to speak but i don't know english, i'm putting it on google translator.
Repetition reaps rewards đ€
I play a song that has 16th notes the entire time.
Uhun wa leresss pisann
I took these for granted till I tried to do "train kept a rolling" drum break. I think it is about 190bpm single strokes 16th notes? ughhhh
If you want to play a song that you play like this but for forever then listen to âmake me smileâ by âChicagoâ
Thank you. Very nice lesson. Just one remark: there are no muscles in fingers/
Really :-o Iâm sat here staring at my fingers now! What are the squidgy bits then? Mind blown!
No muscles in fingers... funny, isn't it? Just move your fingers and look at your forearm. There are the muscles. Sorry, forgot to put like for the video. Corrected.
Ummm time to google hand anatomy
dumbest comment i've heard so far...

You are an expert, I would very much like to play drums, but when you show how to beat the drum with the stick, it is not that easy, especially that the stick need to be held lightly, when doing the double beat..sure a lot of practice is needed..Thanks for the video
well it could if you play Dragonforce.
Iâm here to better my Taiko no Tatsujin skills
Subtitles in italian....please
I don't like the positioning of your wall plug.
How do you feel about THAT?
I guess building speed might take time/years to develop.
I love terrible analogies. Also love the lesson.

I sacrificed technique for power long ago. Big mistake
Wow great lesson. Hope you know Jesus
Hi Tompok, I sure do!
He is speaking in spead of farrari

Iâm noticing something when you use your fingers. At itâs peak, your left stick is consistently an inch lower than your right stick. As a result, Iâm hearing a slight flat tire effect. Thanks for the vid but youâre not practicing what you preach.
Good eye Nathan, also his left hand isn't playing quite fast enough, and has a galloping effect, not a nice evenly spaced roll

Absolutely đ
Friend! Good video! But you talk a lot!

Well we know you donât listen to metal. XD
i go slower with my fingers
To do just that, you are talking so much stuff... Just that. I can't believe it
Did you hear you"roll" at the beginning? Learn it for yourself first before teach others, dude :)
Leyen Sento ?
Itâs a single stroke roll, meaning 1 stroke per hand. Learn what youâre criticizing before you comment, m8 :)
