I love this. Our egos can make us think we are the most important spoke in a wheel. On its own, it’s an insignificant spoke, but together with the rest, it is an important part of the whole system.

Zhuang Zi is worth reading throughout our whole lives. My ego sometimes tells me; I am blah bla blah and to look at others faults. But in reality Taoist awareness helps me realise that I am so fortunate to be with my girlfriend. I must be grateful for her. Thank you George as ever for your wisdom.

You made it by being Born! the rest is Gravy. Dahli Lama says we work ourselves until we're Sick then spend all money trying to get well.
The tao philosophy has no past , no present , no future. It is timeless philosophy and it will help you now matter what century that you are in. The science can't explain it , the philosophors cannot explain it. It is just existence of the universal. life is emptiness= no ego, you are do not exist and you are everything. Treat yourself as a beginner or humble and enjoy life without name it or label it. I think that nobody can explain life better than Tao.

Believe it or not, I only started to look into Dao after having a lengthy conversation with an AI Laozi. Had no idea who they were, was just lo
Iisted under religion i think. And yes the ai differs a little from the raw books, which ive since at least listened too. Ive found that its shockingly compatable with my existing faith.
Never had much of an ego to start with. Ive always been just a background character even in my own life.

Your Wrong George, the ego should be a non-doing or 'doing nothing'. It sounds like a pleasant invitation to relax or worse, fall into laziness or apathy like myself not training as hard a s i wish. Yet this concept is the key to the noblest kind of action according to the philosophy of Daoism - and is at the heart of what it means to follow Dao or The Way.

Taking this 1 step further.... Earth and the size/distance to the end of the Milky Way (our Galaxy).
Our Galaxy the Milky Way is approx. 100,000 light years across.... (the speed of light can travel around the earth's equator 7.5 times in 1 second) A light year is how far light travels in a year , approx 6 trillion miles... (5.88 trillion m)...
New Horizons is still the fastest human-made object ever launched from Earth…but the Sun’s gravity has slowed it down to about 33,000 mph right now. But as it gets further away, so the effect of the Sun’s gravity will diminish and it’ll never slow down enough to stop and fall back.
But anyway - let’s be generous and use the 36,400 mph number and assume we’ve launched it starting from WAY out in space.
One light year is 5,878,625,370,000 miles - divided by 36,400 mph gets us 161,500,696 hours = 6,729,195 days = 18,423 years.
NOW, take 18,423 years times (x) 100,000 light years (Milky Way size) = 1,842,300,000 (1.8 billion) 1.8+ billion years JUST to leave the Milky Way Galaxy (at 36,400 mile per hour).
Yes....we can see millions of other Galaxies ... BUT, getting there is tricky at best , UNLESS you consider...

Entanglement is what Einstein referred to as "spooky action at a distance." It's a phenomenon by which one particle can effectively "know" something about another particle instantaneously, even if those two particles are separated by a great distance...
Either way... it seems I'm a Spiritual being having a human experience on Earth. ;)
Why does your potential partner have to be a woman and why demand a relationship be monogamous and restrictive? Aren't sexuality and demand for reproduction an extension of the ego? Wouldn't truly going with the flow and letting go of the ego is by accepting whomever you connect with regardless of sex/gender and enforcing monogamy being controlling of your partner?
Sexuality an demand for reproduction are biological. That's different than ego. Taoism goes with the flow of nature. Denial of one biological nature an their own identity denies the practical position a person exists as an their spirit. You can mess with your own perception but doing so goes against the true essence of the Taoist way. Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying from practical taoist starting point, your body is what it is, your identity is what it is, identify then purging things that try to alter that an develop the essence an exist as that state is a way of taoism. It's not morally based just practically based.
Less is more.

I view The Dao as extending Confucianism and Great Ancient Chinese Wisdom outside of Christian contemporary thought to show us a new way of thinking in the world. That is to say that Taoism is closer to the earth and therefore valuable for Christians to practice as Christianity focuses on heavenly Questions whereas Daoism discusses on the ying and the yang from ancient times. 😊😋
