Do you believe Ship 28 will successfully make it to reentry, or is there a specific aspect you deem most likely to fail?
I’m very curious how the heat tiles are going to hold up. What do YOU think? How many can they lose and still have a safe reentry?
I met John out on the dunes yesterday. I gave him a Polaroid of Starship.
Scam
Wait, 200 feet from stage zero for the launch? Did I misunderstand? I would expect nobody within a half mile of it.
@@Jan12700 jealous?
You missed a very important point, it's Texas SPRING BREAK, where thousands and thousands of people are at South Padre Island! It's a huge deal to have younger college students watch the rocket launch.
Ha! Even better! Let them see it with their own eyes! That'll get them excited!
It’s going to be a massive party. That would be such a fun experience. Few drinks on a beach, watching a rocket launch.
My son, an engineering student, will be on that beach.
Noooooooo! 😅 Watch the pretty rocket test on TV pleeease
I love to hear about the younger generation getting into space and what SpaceX is going to do . I don't say trying we can just watch them do it
Bahaha the crowd in SPI for spring break ain't the care about rockets crowd.
The fact that SpaceX got about 2 billion and have now sent 7 Nasa crew mission’s to the ISS not including Axiom, and Boeing got 4 billion and haven’t even launched humans yet is truly emberassing
It shows that management at Boeing are just lazy and out-of-touch with modern engineering standards. The fact that they had flammable wires on board was just embarrassing to the core. And this is the company that flies millions of people round the world every day. I'll take an Airbus over a Boeing jet any day of the week.
John Oliver just did a Last Week Tonight episode on Boeing; it's a pretty sad state of affairs.
How many times did Boeing stick their hand out for extra funding?
give elon time, he will get there eventually.
@@jasongoodacreWasn’t it flammable tape on the wiring?
Fingers, toes, arms, legs are all crossed in hope that it launches and is 100% success! WOO HOO!!!
Probably not, my guess is that the same will happen as last time
Hah! Amateur! I'm crossing my eyes for it!
You are one of the most reliable space reporters on the tube. Thanks for keeping the information flowing and all the hype to a minimum!
Thank you very much. It’s an honour to be able to bring you this.
Let’s GOOO StarShip!!

FINALLY WE LAUNCH!!!!!! march 14th baby

Thanks for all the updates. I really appreciate all your hard work!

Seven months between 420 Rocknado/IFT 1 and Hot staging/IFT 2. Four months between IFT 2 and IFT 3/🥧day. If SpaceX can continue to improve their launch rate, at their current pace, we'll see IFT4 by mid May. Good Luck!! 🤘🖖
Already watched launch 1 an 2. Now I'm ready for the 3rd from Norway. I am already ignited. Hit it Starship and SpaceX.
Shoutout to TJ, good gob mate!
Hi Felix and Team. A couple of points: first, it's Sunita Williams, aka 'Suni'(Sunny), Sunita is pronounced sue-NEE-ta, not 'sue-NAA-ta. Ms. Williams, prior to her becoming Chris Ferguson (if you ever want to find out the 'dirt' behind 'Starliner', just ask Cdr Ferguson....under oath, cuz I think Boeing put a contractually-obligated gag order on the poor guy). Prior to being assigned the unenvible task of going up in a potential lemon, she took part in ISS Expeditions 14 & 15 and Expeditions 32 & 33. She's participated in 7 EVA's and served as ISS Commander on Expedition 33. Notably, she 'ran' the Boston Marathon on Expedittioni 15. She was seperated at birth from RUSH's Geddy Lee.
Captain Williams has flown on both the shuttle and Soyuz. Starliner will be her third crew vehicle to fly. As much as I mistrust and dislike Boeing (I won't fly any Boeing airplane, for obvious reasons. It's Airbus and Beriev for me!) I wish Captain Williams and Spacecraft Commander Butch Wilmore all the best safe luck. Any crewed spaceflight is something to celebrate, regardless of country of origin, and spacecraft type.
As a recommendation from a Canadian sitting on a (frozen) cheep seat, I'd suggest to the US State Department, and NASA, that they consider inducting Russian cosmonauts and Chinese taikonauts into the Astronaut Hall of Fame at KSC. Such a move would really impress both the Russian and Chinese populations, without any intercession from the Russian or PRC governments.
No, 'Let's dive right in', today? Regardless, your enthusiasm is palpable. As for 'predicting' what happens on Thursday, there's no way I could opine on the subject without extensive disclosure from SpaceX engineers. Since the company is privately owned, getting SpaceX to divulge trade secrets isn't going to happen, especially with China trying to replicate SpaceX's tech with what I imagine is a serious amount of industrial espionage.
Thank you very much for this comment. Very interesting read. And thank you for correcting my English. Always trying to improve. 🫡❤️
@@WhataboutitHi Felix: I really feel bad for pointing Suni Williams' name pronunciation for you. I was actually thinking the mistake was with your writers. You seem to be a very knowledgeable chap. Most NASA fans know who the astros are, and I know you're one of them. I figured you were reading from a script, not making a mistake yourself. While I've got you, have you ever heard of this book: 'The Heavens and the Earth: A Political History of the Space Age, by Walter McDougall? It's a bit dated, being published in 1985. However, for me at least (M.A. History), it remains the best book of its type I've ever read. I strongly recommend it. And thank you for the personal touch: YOU rock, Sir!
I am so X-cited. I can hardly wait for the greatest show on earth. X-Power baby. Lets go!
Im excited, hope it goes as planned ❤

thanks for the coverage.
Thanks for the coverage Felix, you rock
The intro on the soon to be live stream looks GREAT guys... I'm so F**KING hyped... greatest thursday ever... I can feel it. Go WAI, Go SpaceX and GO STARSHIP. Mars here we come... sooner then you think =P
Yes it is going to space. I hope to see all successful mission points
All we can hope that third time is the charm ✨🚀🌎
Thanks mate 👍
Starliner delayed? What a shock. Maybe it will still fly before crewed Dream Chaser.
Altho since the delay is about the ISS schedules maybe it will actually go as planned now.
Best of luck to spaced and WAI for the future
Now all I need to do is make sure I don’t blow getting up in time to see the launch live! It’s still early days. We’re hopeful that all of the planned mission objectives go off without a hitch. It kind of puts you on edge. Chances are things will go really well. This isn’t their first rodeo. They’ve been launching Falcon 9 for what now seems like ages. And hundreds have been completely successful. IFT-1 and IFT-2 provided a lot of data that’s led to massive improvements to every aspect of Starship and its support systems. With each flight huge strides have been made. You have to expect and hope for that to continue with flight number 3. Time to put our big boy pants on and steel ourselves for whatever comes in those early morning hours only days from now.
Man, you're a legend. Thanks so much for adding the GMT time. Looking forward to the live (even if it will be quite late here)
You're very welcome!!! :) Looking forward to having you around!
As a scaffold builder that is not a couple hours of work 😂 maybe the lunch deck but definitely not the disconnect arm
Can't wait foe the launch. Let's go!
My understanding is that not all of the P213 tape was removed but only the tape that was "feasible" to remove was removed. The tape that was not removed was the tape located in difficult to reach places that would have required a complete dismantling of the Starliner. It was decided that that was too expensive and time consuming to do so NASA and the manufacturers decided it was within safe operating limits. I have no idea whether the remaining tape is safe or not but I do know that history repeats itself; especially if you don't learn from it. If this flight or ensuing flights by this capsule should fail because of tape, then the entire NASA management team will have to be held responsible and terminated and Boeing removed from any further contract considerations. It will result in years of delay in the space program and most importantly the possible death of space travelers.
Great excitement, good on ya’
It would be perhaps interesting for your viewers to have a live schematic showing the approximate position of the starship in relation to the earth so that we all could have a better understanding of the "planned" position despite the lack of actual starship connectivity???
Just a question, I presume that SpaceX or perhaps NASA or Air Force/USA Navy is constantly tracking the Starship as it is travelling through the upper atmosphere, it would be very interesting to see what is probably going on in the background(behind the limited information on the SpaceX presentation)???
Also, are there ships or earth based tracking stations following the trajectory of the Starship before, during and after re-entry/splashdown??? The above questions would make very interesting viewer consumption.
Hopefully you will be able provide some of this information on future reviews or launches.
Thank you again for your fantastic productions and promoting this super aspect of humankind's development through our times!
SkipRay, Kerry, Ireland.
Cant wait!!! I will be for sure watching on the 14th. Lets go starship IFT-3 !!!!
Update: TFR now granted for US airspace
Danke Felix
good work
Excellent coverage and updating.
It feels like a "Thunderbirds are go!" moment, to me, on "Thor's day."
About the fuel transfer test being from the header tank to the main tank: the purpose of the header tank is to ensure fuel is available to relight the engines for the landing flip manuvuer. After the fuel transfer test the header tank will be empty. So that seems to indicate a hard splash down instead of an attempted soft one. BUMMER!! I consider that a missed opportunity.
Yes 2 fuel transfers to refil the header or why not an Extra fuel tank for transfer purpose and as a payload mass simulater.
As of watching this video Starship is fully stacked, all scaffolding has been removed and ship 29 has been rolled back to the mega bay!!! I do believe we will see it launch on the 14th!!!
I really hope SpaceX will succeed and thrive in the space industry 100 fold within the next few years. Will be so exciting. I believe Starship will soon be like Falcon 9's and be launching and landing every few days to the point that it won't be as exciting in 4 years or so. I'm hoping to see space ships like in Star Wars or Star Trek in my lifetime.
This one is going to make it
LET'S GOO!! SORE THE SKIES STARSHIP!!
Preferably SOAR the skies.
Soar, its soar not sore but soar.
Give the guy a break his auto correct is probably as reliable as a Xanthian spelling bee 8-)
Thanks Shlanginator!! Look forward to flight.
Great update as usual. No more commercials for legal firms, please stick with the tech ones. Biggest obstacle for this week, if it were my guess, would be the launch license.
80% sure this time will go just as planned. I have a really good feeling about this one guys! Since the last went almost as intended I see a very high chance this will work out just fine. Let’s light that candle and find out!
WB 57 Aircraft 2:44 Cool. How convenient it just happens to be reserved on the 14th😂 I had no idea that that's where we got the photos of the Starship last time. I cant wait to be online with you and the AWI Team watched it with you all. Those new cameras are badass. If your closest camera is going to be only 200ft away which is so cool but I hope it doesn't get too hot and 💥 Did you mean 200 yards? ALL SO COOL 😊
This time we go all the way and next time landing
🤞🤞
We have that in common. I'm also ready for the Starship launch !
GOOD JOB FELIX!! 🔥 CANT WAIT
🤘❤️
Felix!!…Thank you for not doing the lame advertising blending routine. Your viewers are appreciative. Great show! Vielen Dank!
We might prefer SpaceX beat Boeing but you're right, I think most of us would like Boeing to eventually succeed so there is a backup to SpaceX (same for New Glenn). I missed the first Starliner flights, I hope to catch the next one! SpaceX has reinvigorated competition in the space industry :)
What a day coming up, more and more experience at every launch of the STARSHIPMAN
Köszönöm Felix !🖖
1 and 2 were very exciting to watch, I think 3 is going to be great.
We have a backup space taxi: Dragon! Flight proven Falcon 9 and Dragon, of which there are many to choose from!
Dragon is the space taxi (although they use virgin F9s for it these days)
A backup is needed in case F9 is grounded for some reason (a fatality)
Video looks extra crispy
Thanks
What is your prediction for the flight Felix?
Excitement guaranteed: I do think that this one will go further again. Past 1-2 Separation and into space! I do hope that this one will make it to reentry! What's most important is the in-space engine relight! This would pave the way for n orbit on IFT4!
I am expecting and hoping for a Friday launch
GO SPACEX
IFT-1 to IFT-2 (212 days) April 20
IFT-2 to IFT-3 (117 days) Nov 18
therefore...
IFT-3 to IFT-4 (64 days) or May 17th
IFT-4 to IFT-5 (35 days) or June 21st
IFT-5 to IFT-6 (19 days) or July 10th
If it depended on SpaceX only, i would say yes. But there is Gov bureocracy involved, so that seems optimistic... But one can only dream.
I hope for a June 21st launch. Would be the best birthday present ever! Although sadly since I’m not from the US I can’t witness it live.
"We are so close, i can smell the ignition" 😅😂😅😂
Will recommend this channel to anyone. Good content 👌
video quality looks noticeably improved
Thanks WAI!
Can smell the ignition lol…. Don’t change Felix.
Am hoping that it exceeds the performance of flight 2 even if this flight comes up short of SpaceX's expectations. It would at least mean they are at least going in the right direction. But am hoping that flight 3 meets their goals.
I’ll be happy with making orbit.
Whew… that video of nine starships all launching at once was pretty neat.
Ah, now I understand the confusion amongst Mush fans. They don't understand the difference between video and CGI.
@@ValiantGarton No… I was, and am, well aware that was CGI. Only a complete moron would think it was real video. Especially since only two total have flown.
Although you’d also have to be a complete moron to think that ANYONE would believe that that was unedited.

Let's Fly on Pi day!
This meme is getting tired. In 2015 the American all numeric abbreviation was 31415, the first five digits of Pi. In 2016 the abbreviation was 31416, the closest five digits. But in 2017 it was 31417, which is only a four digit approximation, and today it is 31424 which is only three digits. Let's put a stake through the heart of this AMERICAN only meme. Everywhere outside of the American Empire the abbreviation is 1403yy or yy0314.

Breathless! I'm sitting here in Orlando wishing I could fly to Boca Chica! I can't atand it. 😅
Yuk: Starliner, Yuk: Blue Origin New Glen
The size of the New Glenn appears to be exaggerated by about 10% in each dimension or about 34% overall in that comparison image. And even if we were to correct that, it seems awfully large to be able to lift off with only 7 BE-4 engines. The current Raptor 2 is nearly as powerful as the BE-4 (despite being much smaller), and the Starship has 33 of them. For further comparison, the Vulcan with 6 SRBs will have greater liftoff thrust than the New Glenn.
Agreed... the image shows it being of a similar diameter to Starship, but it's only a 7m diameter vs Starship's 9m. Definitely exaggerated...
I think this one will get to space and achieve most of its objective. It is a very ambitious flight given the failures to date. I would like to see a "landing" on both targets.
Go Starship! Go Superheavy!
So - can't wait, Thank you for your great color coverage. Of the Space X Starship launches.
One thing NASA failed to understand is if NFL football games were covered the way they did moon launches the NFL would not exist. Sure mission control has to be dry and matter of fact 99 % of the time, and test pilot's have to have ice cold blood, nerves of steel, and the only emotional control has to go to lightning fast refexes. But that does not get an audience. We need someone who has actual excitement about what is going on and has the ability to transmit that to the rest of us space nerds out there.
I don't want someone so tied up in their inner monolog that they forget about the actual launch happening over their shoulder.
In the sixties Walter Cronkite maximum emotion, was taking off his glasses.
So maybe you could do a skit for us taking off your sunglases and saying " well it's on it way" LOL.
No I love it when you get tongue twisted and pull a complete brain fart. And when you lose it in the rockets red glare. Thank you!
Walter who? Surely you mean Walter Cronkite. Takes off glasses. “And that’s the way it is.” Puts glasses on and straightens papers.
But he could get a little teary eyed watching a moon landing.
Felix, have you ever heard of Walter Cronkite?
This time it will succeed. at least the launch...
Im still not sure about reentry, could be a tricky trick.
But seeing the bellyflop and a short hover 10m over the ocean would be so cool....
I heard the weather might be bad Thursday at Boca Chica. Hope not. So excited and nervous for IFT-3. I think if separation/hot staging goes well Ship 28 will atleast make it to reentry, but will it survive that? I wish SpaceX was planning to test a flip/soft landing with the ship rather than crashing/ belly flop. I worry booster 10 will again have engine issues (after) hot staging. If it does atleast part of the problem might be that the hot staging ring is a bit too small, causing a chain reaction of issues.
I think stage zero weather will be ok but there is concern with winds aloft where winds can be 100+ MPH.
If the in flight testing of the Pez Dispenser bay door works out, I'd like to see an on ground demonstration of some starlinks.
The question is, where would be a safe place for that demonstration?
Let's get er done!
Go spacex!
I hope everything goes smoothly but I'm very concerned about the booster flip maneuver
