    Allett Stirling 51: The REVIEW YOU NEED TO WATCH!!
    Many thanks to Allett Mowers and ADETurf.com.au (who distribute Allett Mowers in Australia) for organising the lend of this wonderful Allett Stirling 51.
    Massive thanks to Craig Radloff (On Insta @radmanlawncare) go check him out..
    Although it is late Autumn in Australia and the lawns are generally dormant, I tried to give you the best representation of what owning the Allett Stirling would look like for you by using 4 different grass types which are all warm season grasses with varying lawn and surface condition, and also with different people with and without cylinder mower experience.
    1. Santa Ana Couch (Bermuda) - my front yard
    2. TifTuf Couch - my backyard (yard is very sloped)
    3. Sir Walter Buffalo (St Augustine) - an average Aussie backyard with high traffic
    4. Kikuyu - the roughie of the lot and a bit bitten by the cold weather
    Generally, the better the lawn and surface condition, the better results this mower will produce. Both subjects using the mower picked up the motion and controls quickly and thought it to be comfortable.
    AUSTRALIA:
    Allett Mowers are distributed by ADETURF - www.adeturf.com.au
    These prices are current at the time of publication, in Australian Dollars and are subject to change without notice. GST is generally 10% - prices are quoted as excluding GST.
    Stirling 43 ($4,620 Ex GST - Skin Only)
    Stirling 51 ($4,795 Ex GST - Skin Only)
    The Allett Stirling optimises the EGO 56V battery range and offers a no tool cartridge change system called the “Ultimate Change”. The Stirling units offer a HOC of 5-50mm, whilst also offering a thicker bedknife to allow for a cleaner precise cut. Not only that but it offers a dual motor setup with a mesh catcher. These models also come standard with a Six Bladed Cutting Cylinder, whilst we recommend the 10 Bladed Cutting Cylinder when cutting below 15mm.
    UC 20” Cartridges:
    Scarifier Cartridge $506 Ex GST
    Verticuter Cartridge $751 Ex GST
    De-Thatcher Cartridge $506 Ex GST
    Grooming Lawn Brush Cartridge $576 Ex GST
    Aerator Cartridge $453 Ex GST
    10 Bladed Cutting Cylinder $838 Ex GST
    UC 17" Cartridges:
    Price not available at time of publication but are generally slightly cheaper than the 20" - I am sure ADETurf would have correct pricing with a quote enquiry.
    Additional Items:
    Cartridge Stand (Holds 3) $173 Ex GST
    QC to UC Kit $121 Ex GST (metal cog)
    UC to QC Kit $61 Ex GST (plastic cog)
    In the Allett Homeowner Range, currently the most popular models are the Liberty 43 ($2,378 Ex GST - Skin Only), Kensington 17H ($3,323 Ex GST - Honda GX120 Engine) and the Kensington 20H ($3,498 Ex GST - Honda GX120 Engine) which all offer the full range of “Quick Change” interchangeable cartridges and have a HOC of 6-32mm. These models also come standard with a Six Bladed Cutting Cylinder, whilst we recommend the 10 Bladed Cutting Cylinder when cutting below 15mm. Furthermore, the Liberty 43 which is Lithium Powered (Greenworks 4Ah 40V Battery) offers a cutting area of 600m2 on one charge, equivalent to 30-40 minutes mowing time.
    AUSTRALIAN AVAILABILITY: (as at time of publication 22/05/22)
    The Liberty 43, Kensington 17H and Kensington 20H are currently in stock ready for dispatch or collection.
    The Stirling Range will not begin manufacturing until June 2022 with an ETA into Australia in Spring 2022 at this stage.
    If you’re interested in pre-ordering the Stirling models or ordering any model which ADETurf have in stock, please let them know (email admin@adeturf.com.au). They can also arrange a freight quote for you Australia wide once you’re able to let them know which unit and cartridges you require. If you have any more questions don’t hesitate to contact ADEturf (www.adeturf.com.au, email admin@adeturf.com.au), thank you.

    Great vid Matt & Heidi. Looks like a great domestic mower for the average punter. Love the ease of changing cylinders. Now on my bucket list! Further the capacity to to remove the reel for professional sharpening during winter is appealing.

    My neighbor has a kensington and I have/ had a Buffalo 27 and they are all super quiet compared to other engines. I sold my Buffalo do to an unrelated injury and now am buying a slightly used stirling, I’m a bit nervous but I think the kensington is a fantastic mower and looking forward to seeing how stirling does, I’m concerned about grass catcher falling apart and have heard about hard lining issues. Will see

    With a Max 50mm HOC for the Allett Stirling for my Palmetto, which cartridge would best suit the Palmetto spring Reno? Aerator, verticut, scarifier, or de-thatcher?

    I'm so keen for an electric cylinder but i do worry about how it will age long term. Petrol mowers can always have engines repaired or even replaced pretty easily but what's the options like when the battery systems start to age? What happens for example if EGO stop making this battery in this form factor or stop making it all together?
    I suppose the money you save in maintenance for a petrol will offset the cost of buying a new electric mower in 10 years... Just more e-waste i guess.

    • @lawnporn
      @lawnporn  Před 2 lety

      Hard to say what the long term deal will be like. Don't have that crystal ball but Ego is one of the bigger battery systems so to speak. If they all fell over I'm guessing someone would uptake the battery form to offer replacements.?

    Looks nice but hasn’t swardman been out with interchangeable cartridges for awhile now? Is there anything the stirling does that swardman does not?

    • @lawnporn
      @lawnporn  Před 2 lety +1

      They have but the Allett ‘Atco’ models have been around a while longer with the same functionality and in a few areas those older alletts are better than the Swardman imo.
      This Stirling really ups the game. I love that you can use the battery on the Ego tools.
      I only wish there was a true grooming cartridge like the Swardman one that has recently been released.

    Hi Matt, I've pre ordered the Stirling with AdeTurf & was considering also getting the dethatcher cartridge albeit I'd dethatching Sir Walter Buffalo with it. Noting you used the dethatcher on your Tif Tuf do you think it'll also go ok on Sir Walter ?
    Cheers Jase

    • @lawnporn
      @lawnporn  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Jase, cheers for this message. I think the dethatcher cartridge would be great for buffalo because there’s enough gap between the cutting lines to leave some plant matter and green leaf. A second pass at 90 degree would be just spot on too and lead to a very consistent start to a post Reno lawn for growing season.

    I have the Swardman, kind of wish this mower came out a year earlier and I may have bought this instead. The price tag is a bit steep, about $1000 more than the Swardman and need to buy the battery system separate, which is about another $1000. It's hard to say if this mower is $2000 better than the Swardman, and I'm someone that has been slightly disappointed with the Swardman, but $2000 is a lot of money for comparable products.

    • @lawnporn
      @lawnporn  Před 2 lety +3

      I had the Swordsman as. well and that was good for a while. I speak to the designer quite regular. I feel the Allett is leaps ahead at the moment. this is a great product.

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter Před rokem

      When the Swardman debuted I had immediate concerns about its battery due to its internal mounting and the difficulty entailed if it needs to be changed out. It also eliminates the possibility of swapping out a second battery if you’re cutting a large property or were working on a big project and run out of battery charge. The Allett Liberty uses a universal design in its battery by Greenworks and the Sterling model uses the EGO system so extra batteries are relatively affordable and can be charged while running with the other. When the Swardman needs to be charged I believe that it has to be parked in place until it’s charged.

    A battery operated cylinder mower. Struth! what's next. Battery powered airliners! How long does the charge last for? Also do you need to adjust the mower height setting for each side? I've used battery powered rotary mowers before. I've found that the mower settings are not low enough to cut my couch lawn.

    • @lawnporn
      @lawnporn  Před 2 lety +1

      Charge lasts decent. I’d guess a 10Ah would be quite a few mows of a 200m2 yard. I didn’t have the time to do a proper test but that 3 outta 5 shot was done after 7 odd mows of my front (to get footage etc) the small bit of cultivating I did in the back and a mow of my rear plus mowing at both my mates which I drove it all the way to the property with the self propel

    • @lawnporn
      @lawnporn  Před 2 lety +1

      Runtime is approx 40 minutes (850sqm) with the 6 blade cartridge and 5Ah battery. Whilst there are numerous variables including the HOC and which cartridge is in use that can affect it. However you can use the 10Ah Battery if you’re wanting a longer runtime. Whilst the HOC is 5-50mm, however you can do 4-15mm with the 10 Bladed Cutting Cylinder, the HOC adjuster is on one side 👍

      @@adeturfequipmentptyltd5402 From the US market, the Swardman goes for 3799, the Allett is 4469. The Battery on Allett's site is 999, plus the charger, 399. That makes the Allet 5867, compared to the 3799. Obviously Allett has some brand name power that has to count for some dollars, and Swardman is still an up and coming name, so they have to try to be cheaper to get market penetration, maybe $2000 is a fair difference in the industry, I don't know.
