People moan about DPF's but the amount of non existent maintenance you see is amazing, It's not like changing the oil is expensive !
but was the oil changed and the data not updated?
You could pretty much write a book on your interactions with cars and DPF's 😄, 50 Shades of Soot.
Bought a CRV recently DPF light just like that (tried talking it for a long motorway spin) changed oil done a clean waiting for launch evo tool to re-set light 💡 hope that does it 🤞Thanks for your videos 👌
Yes Honda needs to have an oil out of specification message - and this needs to show as well as the DPF one!
I think so too
Excellent job Jimmy !!
Good insight. Awaiting my tool to check live data. Can of dpf doctor and oil change done but the pesky light and limp mode remain
Routine servicing so commonly forgotten about either through absentminded, bury head in sand or lack of funds. Yet even if they had done the service, how many mechanics would be aware of how to reset the oil life, was certainly a bit of a flaff with your hi level scanner. Wonder if a more basic service reset scanner been more straightforward and effective 🤔 very interesting video thanks
Thanks for info very helpful
Had a woman in yesterday asked for mot and how much to change oil on a car that’s on 7k , it’s not had an oil change for 4 years 😂 and she’s thinking it doesn’t need one 😂😂😂😂
Glad i watched this video, just realised mine hasn't been done for a good while.
I love these 2.2 engines they seem to go on forever
You don't love your engine, you just like it. You over looked your oil change 😅
@@GR-uy1hx several times 🙄
I think it’s a very clever thing from Honda, oil is cheaper than a new engine!
School day for me this one. Cheers jimmy
I don't understand why people neglect servicing. But most garage's are just fitters.
Mitsubishi Outlander has a very similar thing showing "dpf service required"
It does throw up a code saying the oil level is high.
This is just a calculated value as there's no level sensor on them.
Into special values then engine oil and reset it.
At the very least lower the oil level down to your max as well.
Same for KIA, DPF warning light ON without further detail information even though the DPF is cleaned. And no workshop in my country knows how to reset DPF learned soot value.
I have a accord 2.2dtec . The option to reset the oil change on the dash is not there. Honda can remove the oil change indicator , I've read it can throw up other faults linked to when the oil change is due/overdue ?
Heads up folks, the 2.2 147bhp Dtecs take 5.5 litres of oil, not 5.9 litres. It's the older 2.2 138bhp cdti's from the previous gen that take 5.9 litres.
I've just changed oil on my 2.2 i-dtec Accord 8 and it consumed more than 6 litres, i don't know how or why
i think jimmy good idea but they should have put more info on the software that monitors the oil...
How does the system measure oil quality, does everyone use the same system/ criterior?
Every video I learn something else , Jimmy you’re fucken deadly
I have same car, got same error after putting engine flush additive in before changing my oil. It didnt like it and I had to clean the dpf as per video.....really annoying, but no more enginer flush for me, just straight oil change
Have you worked on any petrol vehicles with particle filters yet, or are problems with them not as much of a thing?
How often does the owner change the engine oil & filter? Answer never judging by the state of the oil filter & oil.
CAR you have had an oil change ok
Did that work?
Great video jimmy. I have a crv myself so this info is very helpful. Thank you
Glad it helped
I think it is a good idea not doing a regen (or or forced regen) with oil diluted with diesel, but it's a bit stupid it not giving you a message telling you so.
I was needed to go to Honda to get it reset, i got a code P109a oil dilution. after regen i changed the oil. Honda Crv 2.2 icdti 2007
How do u reset on uk models how do u tell it it had oil change no reset on this 2011. 2.2 hanku
I think a bad battery can trigger this error, not sure but i had this error with low voltage starter battery, what do you think?
The honda scan tool does indeed show a honda specific code for this, which it seems few other scan tools do.
Yep
Would that be the same for 1.6 as I have one at work that dpf lights on but pressure OK
You are spot on Timbo, Launch claims they the best with their software......i do not think so! However my two year Autel shows shows relatively lot more data and more informative than Launch diagnostic tool.
Exactly this… very good design.
why do Peugeots have ad blu and Eolys fluid, yet my Bipper van with1.3hdi (Fiat engine) has none of this?
I’m curious. My GF just got this message, and i changed the oil w/filter like 7 months ago, and she’s driven prehaps 2-3000km. Is the oil allready that bad?
I usually change oil yearly or within 10000kilometers, and here she haven’t driven half and allready giving issues? 😅
I serviced my Honda frequently and used top notch oil and still it repeatedly required aerosol cleans and forced regens. The system is utterly crap on CRVs. To be fair it’s the only crap bit but it’s crap.
The issue seems to be related to the dpf being mounted in the front in the huge airstream. At motorway speeds in cooler weather it’s unable to achieve the heat required for regeneration and clogs. It’s an example of immature technology rushed to market that does no good for anyone let alone the environment. Best cure is a masonry drill defeat through the core!
Did you ever do a Hilux dpf cleaning? I have a dpf error on my 2014 Hilux.
Not yet
Great video Jimmy, think i have exactly the same problem ,can the regen also affect the air con ?
The air con can stop the regen
I noticed my air con is no longer cold despite being regassed 6 months ago so wondered if the regen can also delete the air con system?
@@stevensouthern1768 other way around. The AC can stop the DPF regeneration. It requires the engine fans to work and the AC
Hi Jimmy so I had a regen then 2wks later the warning light comes back on , scanned it no fault so my mechanic reset the ECM/PCM,reset data, write data to reset the oil life, then reset calculated pm value. He didn't do an actual oil change as it had one in November but warning light goes out and then comes back on 5 miles later. Do you think this is because he did not do the oil change , can the ECU recognise if the oil is diluted? Cheers Steve
Im currently waiting for the dpf products to come back in stock on the lauch web site i know you use the dpf cleaner in most of your videos but what about the other products the sell do you rate them ??
All there fluids are top notch. Richard is a chemical specialist who worked at all major brands including Bluechem etc
@@ORileysAutos thankyou il keep checking there web site ...
The 2 items I was after are now back in stock so I've ordered them both thanks Jamie...
Does that apply to other vehicles as well.
It’s common on Japanese vehicles
Hallo kann kein English. Habe 2013 Crv 2.2 Diesel. Letzte Zeit sogar 4 mal Regeneration gehabt innerhalb 8 Wochen. Habe deswegen 2 mal Öl gewechselt in 8 Wochen!
I hardly take my 2.2 DTEC for short trips, the people that buy diesel because "MPG" but all they do is city driving and short trips.. crazy.. 30000km a year and lot's of highway and it sees enough accelerations up to 3 - 4K (gotta teach those EV's a lesson in whois boss sometimes), the engine is built to make miles and not hypermiling destroying clutch, DMF, DPF, and axles because "I cruise at 1500rpm and shift at 1800rpm because cluster says I should". My old man was a marine engineer for 40 years and taught me all about engines. Poor maintenance, poor fuel and poor use destroys everything.
From the dreadful state of the filter, It looks like the owner created his own problems from neglecting a relatively cheap oil change .Not so cheap now !😏
Many japanese cars will trigger oil dilution fault code in such case according to my experience. Seems like honda's software engineers were too busy to do that🤦♂️
I'll be damned!!!! Any word from the customer as to whether this fix is still working with their car??
So many clowns not doing basic service!!!
I change my oil every 6k
Me too
Wise move. If you talk to Land Rover owners who change the oil every 5-6k, they don’t get crankshaft or turbo failure. Strange that 😉
