  • this video shows you how to use Remedy Ultra from mixing to application
    it is used for hard wood control of invasive or undesired trees such as near foundations where tree control is desired.
    it is an over the counter product, 8 ounces to a gallon of diesel and a low pressure hand pump, or a paint brush application across the surface of a cut tree is enough to control further growth.
    the cost at the time of this video was about 70 to 80 depending on where it was bought.
    at this time no license is required to buy it, but the mixing of large quanities is contra indicated as one gallon goes a long way, and my experience is i can spray about 1 acre of invasive youpon with 3/4 of a gallon or less which would be about 1000 to 1500 individual trees based on a count over 2 years of using

    You can also drill a hole in the tree and spray in there.

      cut the whole thing down and spray the stump within 30 minutes, i have read nothing to show that this would work. it is a surface application, not an internal one, for that you need arsenal

    where i tried in in the post texas area, it did work, however i did make a slightly thicker line around the tree, (a band about 8 inches thick on the trunk of larger trees

    I'm not sure if you are still watching for comments on this video. I'm trying to invest in a backpack sprayer that will stand up to Remedy Ultra with diesel to eliminate some of the huisache on my property. Is there a type or brand of sprayer that you would recommend? My first (really cheap) sprayer fell apart after a first application. Thanks.

      i have used almost every brand of back pack sprayer there is. and i have only bought/used one brand and that is a solo. they are not cheap.
      but unless you are dealing with very large areas, i would advise to go with a lower priced metal one. i'm looking it up in my videos/or where i bought it on amazon.
      i will post the link once i locate it.
      i don't want to leave you hanging

      here is the link for the steel tank. one gallon will take care of a lot of small trees (yaupon) and 1/2 as many large ones. it requires such a small amount to kill the trees. i estimate that i am able to control about 300x600 square feet.

      Thank you for the reply. I have 10 acres that is mostly huisatche and mesquite, with some prickly pear cactus thrown in. I’m leaving most of the larger trees, but want to knock the new growth down. We are using the property for beekeeping, so I’ve got some wildflower patches. I have a 2 gallon steel tank, but it gets heavy and doesn’t last as long as I like. Thanks for the info on Solo. I didn’t know if it was a “cheap” brand or one of quality. I will look into them.

    Will it kill big trees? Like a 24" stump?

    • @dysfunctional_vet
      @dysfunctional_vet  Před rokem

      yes, it does work. you may need to put a bit more of a line on it than a simple 2 inch line as i do on small plants. usually no more than 6 inches of spraying, or painting with a brush is needed. i have zapped some huge sweet gum trees but it is not an over night fix. it will take some weeks to see results.

    Thanks for video! Will this work on a large sycamore tree?

    Would that mix ratio also work on mesquite trees?

      Yes it will. I have 40 acres im about to use it on as well

      Also per the bottle it is a 3:1 ratio, as well as from my neighbor whose been using it for a decade.

      i used the recommended 8:1 however the paper does have the 3:1, it just takes longer and i have a billion yaupon's to knock out. i can spend an hour in the grove of them, and if they don't die in a month or more, i don't know which ones i missed.

    Would this ratio work for poison ivy?

    • @prairiepinesranch

      Diesel+Remedy for poison ivy or water and Remedy Ultra? I have a gallon sprayer.

    • @dysfunctional_vet
      @dysfunctional_vet  Před 3 lety +2

      yes, it would, but i normally use round up. on poison ivy that is grown all the way up the tree, i will cut the vine, and spray all the leaves down from where i cut it. there is also a herbicide that is specifically made for vines, although round up normally works well on those as well
