Another fun fact about Trashcan Carla. If you read a certain terminal in the Institute there's a list of informants feeding them info on the Commonwealth and Carla is one of them. When you came out of the tunnel where the trader is, you saw the 3 raiders coming out of the alley to the left. They have a high chance of dropping a legendary. I've played this game almost 4900 hours now. I have extensively walked around the world, exploring lots of nooks and crannies and yet, I still occasionally find something I've never seen before. Or I'll be watching someone's video and they'll show something I haven't seen before. The amount of detail they put into this game world is impressive.
I did this in FA3. I walked from the Dunwich Building to the Republic of Dave. It was good fun.

Lol, I'm on a playthrough where I just ran past him and grabbed the power armor and mini gun, and that is all I've Sen of him. It feels soo good!
This is my kind of lore video, not bogged down in details or over-explaining things, just a nice walk through the Commonwealth. Going from other places with a destination in mind, but kind of meandering and explaining what you see on the way... sounds like it could be a series! I know I'd watch it anyway. 7:15 anyone playing on survival and living in Hangmans Alley will know how crazy often the random events happen here.
The best way to have an interesting walk is to get the Summerville Place and coastal cottage settlements and send settlers from one to the other and follow them. I typically move 12 at a time and follow as they fight their was across the wasteland to their new home.
You mention killing Swan easily. One thing I do when playing a Fallout game - and maybe especially Fallout 4 is I don't take combat enhancing perks until I find the combat actually a bit frustratingly hard. It is really easy, in this game, to make the killer combo build that just slaughters anything you encounter with ease... but whats the fun in that?
What I like to take are a lot of the interesting and fun perks... oh and carry more loot! That way I don't have to make as many trips between the place I am currently looting and where ever I can trade those in for caps.
I got almost to Cambridge in one run today but stepped on a mine. Well it's a dangerous world. Crossing the Commonwealth without dying would take a few tries.

I remember exiting the vault in FO3 and FO4... Just sticks in my mind... One of the most memorable times in any game I've played....

I think that I can top that, although it wasn't on Survival.
There I was, having just started a new character. Immediately after leaving the Vault, I walked around, looking for Hubflower, when I had my first random encounter of the game: the wandering Atom Cat in his power armor. After marking the Atom Cats' garage on the mao, he wandered off to head home.
For whatever reason, I tossed every single plan that I had out the window & proceeded to follow Duke like, well, a stray cat. Duke walked across the entire map of the Commonwealth from the NW corner to the Atom Cats' Garage in the far SE. I trailed after Duke, letting act like a bullet sponge while I did my very best not to draw ANY aggro. After wandering in a roundabout way a block south of Diamond City, Duke headed due south towards Medford and Gunners Plaza before finally heading home. Meanwhile, I was taking every opportunity to loot corpses, amassing a lovely stockpile of food, meds & ammo.
One thing I will admit: I'm glad that I wasn't on Survival because, after picking through unclaimed goods at the garage, I could just fast travel back to Vault 111; on Survival, I would have had to sneak/run back, this time without a meat shield in power armor!
That Flagon Tunnel(?) Is an interesting location. The 3 raider only spawned if you go near the unmarked trader, while at the other end of the tunnel, if you go to the bathtub there, another 2 super mutant will spawn. Nearby area, if you walk on the road beside Diamond City wall (toward the library)l, on your left you'll noticed one lone dead rider in the end one of the alley. If you go near him 3 mongrel dog will spawned at the alley entrance.
yeah...just started a survival playthrough. Walking is my friend, walking is my friend...
Noo... The UBERhood of Steel are your friends, get them to arrive asap... plus get to the Institute for teleporter... then do side stuff 😂
It's the only way for me to play the game.

I love survival mode. When you can't fast travel you tend to find things you've never seen before and visit places you've never been to. Plus just the added features of thirst hunger sleeping and sickness makes the game far more immersive.

I liked this vid Thomas. It reminded me of being at the zoo and you are riding by looking at the radiated animals..er, I mean the animals in the comfort of your wee coach on the kiddie train, and the conductor gives you the "look to the left look to the right" spiel. Lubbed it!
I often walk just to random encounter..... it's a blast.
A few years ago when I got bored I started in one of the upper corners on the map and then walked through every map square all the way to the bottom (Not in one sitting.) I had just over 2,200 hours when I quit. I'll probably start again with the update as soon as the Script Extender is stable.
I just recently discovered your videos after watching the new series on Prime and starting Fallout 4 again. (I played through once in college 9 years ago) I love them!! So helpful! Love the commentary! And loving playing Fallout again!

8:31 In Rome, during the 12th century, the Frangipane and Annibaldi families repurposed the Colosseum to function as their fortress. So there is historical precedence for it. Nice walkabout, thank you for the tour.
I've made this run a few times at level one to grab the agility bobblehead early. It will be fun to watch your route.

@@phillicus Agility bobblehead is on the bow of the FMS Northern Star near Warwick Homestead. I'm pretty sure Thomas has a vid showing all the bobblehead locations if search his channel.
You can actually climb up the bow of the boat and loot it without fighting any of the raiders. It's easy to loot, even at level one if your willing to go on a long walk.

2:48 also as I’ve mentioned before, I’m from the area. Most all of it is condensed at least a little bit lol. Lexington-concord are fairly large towns IRL. Also I’m from near Natick (you can visit the natick pd in the game) and that’s a bit different too. Quite a bit 😂

Survival needs a fast travel just from settlement to settlement. For those dumb defend missions and minute men quests can be a intelligence lvl 40+ perk.
There's a mod for that

@@dank7256 Well to 100% the game yes. But i lf im not mistaken you can get another faction help you get into the institute. So you can starting screen, to end screen the game.

There’s nothing unique about walking across the map as nearly every Fallout player has done that, or run or jet pack boost as they are the only ways to travel in the game unless you’re a lazy twit and fast travel everywhere ……, what would of been cool and prob caught more people’s attention would of been to of uploaded the full 1 to 2 hours it actually takes to walk across the map rather then a hastily 17 min edit. But what do I know ……, I only edit for some of the best and well known CZcams gaming channels, ima nobody
