The A&H CQ-18t has a locking power connector, but the provided power supply doesn’t ☹️

  • The Allen & Heath CQ-18T is an excellent new option for anyone looking for a small form-factor mixer and audio interface. The external power supply they included is a quality one, but it looks like it should have had a locking barrel connector to match the mixer's power input.

I’d rather the tab be pulled out of the side of the mixer than the DC socket be pulled out of the mixer when someone or something yanks on the cable.

The 20b model has an internal power supply and IEC input cable... I think they went this way on the 12 & 18 to reduce the cost selling them globally. There's a good chance the original U.K. adapter has the locking tab & we just didn't get them here in North America.

Stagehands will break the whole thing pulling it out not knowing it has a lock

Yeah this style of locking barrel connector is a bit too stealth for general users to walk-up and realize it's even there.

I would call them up and say something. Looks like they are cutting corners. Your paying a lot of money for your equipment and they do this.

Nah. Reasoning many things today uses 12V DC or AC input is that the company don't have to think about the adapter and don't have to get the device itself electrically certified in each Country. The local company that imports the device delivers the 12v Adapter and have to make sure it is locally certified .. NOT the Company that produces the device. You will have to contact who ever distributes the devices in your country. It's those companies that often cuts corners and often delivers cheap adapters made in china that often isn't even certified in European, UK or US countries
