    Nice straight to the point video
    Helps a lot navigating this rabbit hole I’m in with figuring where I wanna go digitally with a mixer

      So far I am very pleased with this mixer, as I get more experienced with it I'll post more videos, thanks for you input!

    I'm blown away by that recording 16 tracks at 96kHz/24 bit. wow.

      Allen & Heath just upgrade the software, and firmware that added mute groups, DCA's, and a lot more.

    First 2 things I noticed when I ran sound at a church that had just bought one of these was;
    1 - No Mute Groups
    You can set those 3 buttons on the side to act as mutes, but they won't mute a group of channels, so I set 1 to mute the FX and 1 to mute the Pastors Mic, I then individually muted the rest of the channels, as I don't like having a bunch of "Hot Mic's" on stage.
    2 - No DCA's or sub groups.
    This is something that I have been using on even big old analogue desks, so I can seperate out things by group, so; the drums have a group, the instruments have a group, the vocals have a group, and sometimes the "Hosts" have a group. This way I can fade up and down entire groups without affecting anyones IEM's or monitor by muting.
    The Recording Feature is awesome, and super user friendly, BUT it's something most desks have nowadays or something you can accomplish with a USB Type B cable, a Laptop, and setting up a DAW to multitrack record (I currently record my church using a Laptop coming straight out of the desk Via USB on an SQ6).

      Thanks for the input! This is all new to me, and I didn't like the analog mixer. So far this does what I need it to do and l really like the recorder, Im sure I will find its short comings the more I use it. With any luck Allen & Heath will add those features in future software upgrades. Thanks again!

      Just recently A&H has release new software that support mite groups and DCAs under Config->Control and Network->Mute Groups or DCA, you can assign the mute groups to a button

    Never rely on the built-in routers on these compact mixers for live gigs (they're all junk, and you WILL eventually lose connection and ability to control the mixer when you least expect it). Get an external router, and scan your venues with a wifi analyzer app on your phone for the best channel to set the wifi to. A lot of people will use the 5ghz band (least congested, but limited range), I prefer the 2.4ghz (on a good clean channel) for better range.
    It's a neat little mixer, but I opted for the Midas MR18, which has more features, more effects, but lacks the SD recording ability (USB to laptop is fine for me, with more control). I then upgraded to an X32 rack, with Midas DL32 digital stage box. I can also run effects from my laptop over USB (auto-tune, popular compressors, etc), with acceptable latency.
    Keep on learning and having fun! :)

      Good point, I was worried about that but so far so good, I do have an external router on standby if I ever encounter that problem. So far I have only used it on 2.4ghz with no problems.

    Rick!!!! Blur out the part where you put your passcode into that tablet!!! Especially if any part of that is your most commonly used passcode for anything!

      So now that everyone knows my pass code on my iPad, what exactly are they going to do with it?

    Omg Rick. And you just showed the world your password on the laptop. And if there's 1 thing people are it's that we're lazy and we use the same password for everything. You gotta delete this video and start changing PIN numbers and passwords.
