@@losrevolucionarios8858 I've since enlisted and now am active duty US Marine, and I am discerning the vocation of Matrimony and not Holy Orders. I, nonetheless, still stand behind traditional Priests and advocate for all good priests who have proper and full knowledge of the True Faith to wear this sacerdotal attire out in public so that us lay Faithful can approach them for the Sacraments. Not just any person but a man of the cloth. Like a service member in uniform. You know what they represent by how you see them.
So happy for the courage this priest has to wear cassock in public, when a lot of priests go around in commoner clothes and although with good intentions, it makes them harder to identify and for beautiful moments like this to take place.
That's because there actually are several options for regular (diocesan) priests. If you look closely he's wearing an actual "Roman collar" that goes around the neck. It's really the collar that is "clerical garb" and not the cassock per se. The cassock originated as daily wear clothing and there are several options for that
@@resetsetmefree478 Yes, but some priests in my country don't even wear a clerical collar, instead, they go everywhere and even for mass in t-shirt and jeans. Once, there came to my parish a substitute priest (since the parish priest had to go on a 2 week retreat) and the substitute priest was dressed with a blue t-shirt, jeans and sandals. Because of the way he was dressed, I didn't recognize him to be a priest and so, lost my chance of confession that day. I honestly mistook him for a technician because the shirt he was wearing had a logo that looked like a wifi company's logo.
@@CathLyric I understand that local customs of how to dress can vary from country to country. I like cassocks personally. Especially in warmed climates and temperatures it's more "breathable" fabric than a black suit. I've also seen short sleeve clerical shirts for warmer weather that have that white tab in the center. But I understand what you are saying there about the need to make a distinction so you can identify someone as a priest. A priest in another video I have seen says that the purpose of the collar is for the reason you have just stated. If somebody needs to go to confession they know who to go to!
There may be different rules for Franciscans and other religious orders which have a distinctive habit . From what I understand those priests are not required to wear the collar, because the religious habit is their "garb". But a T-shirt and jeans ....🤮. If you're playing baseball or helping with painting a house then yes that's sensible but not for mass

Priests dressing in common clothes backfired. It made them invisible and thus useless in public. I’m thrilled to see the new priests embracing their cassocks.
