- This Brushless RC Car from XLF has a lot of nice features, but it just doesn't cut it for me. Yes, you get a relatively decent set up for the money, but it's not something I'd buy. I'd look at converting a WLtoys 104001 to brushless for similar money.

I honestly think it's really good to review these crap RCs so inexperienced people know what to watch out for and can see the performance differences.

This seems just like a parts bin special without anyone considering the whole package. Metal chassis and mismatching arms, short suspension travel and center diff on what seems a basher - there is so much wrong with this car.
If I would have bought that RC and it drove and flipped like that out of the box, I'd be PISSED. LOL On the other end of the spectrum, I'm having a blast with the WLToys 12402-A that I picked up on Ebay about a month ago. I put oil shocks on it, put the Hobbywing brushless motor and ESC that was originally in my 124019 in it, a Radiolink receiver in it, and I've had nothing but fun with it since. It has been the absolute best budget recommendation that I've gotten and it came from your videos!

First honest review I’ve seen yet. Good job Tomley. Everyone else is saying it’s a decent car. If you change this.... fix that... it could be good... or people are just outright saying it’s a nice car...
it has potential... but for 220$ I shouldn’t have to fix everything or put another 50+ $$$ into it just to get it to what every other cheap RC already is... but you were real with us... great job man. Keeping it honest and being legit. Keep up the good work.

It's just a big wast of money
To be honest, I was also gonna get one of these budget cars, but instead I just saved up for a granite 3s and just upgraded the diff and pinion to hot racing aluminum and hot racing aluminum pivot balls and the ting is an animal. Just save your money for something more quality then these cheaply made rigs.To be honest a few of theses cheaper cars are good. Hope this helped.

Great camera work and review brother
When I ran into this issues with another car (never straight throttling) I found one of the back tyres was kinda locked and the other spinning free. The rear diff did the rest. I'd have a copule of questions: can you suggest a better (cheap) car with center diff? I meant to try one.. not this one of course after such a review (thanks a lot for honesty and unbias) Would you share the cam(s) you use for your beautfiul footage?

From here it looks like those parts would fit the wltoys 104001 like the center brace
The open diffs are part of the issue with the steering. It's torque steering to one side. I bet if you filled the front and rear diffs with like 100k/300k, and 1M or higher in the center, it would make a world of difference.

I have this car and the problem is that when you are standing still and you turn it left/right, it doesn’t center itself. It sticks to the left, or the right. You have to center it yourself.
@@truenewsglobal it's most likely the servo saver doing that, and/or a weak servo. It does it on most cars when standing still, not an issue. The problem here is very most likely a diff issue because on wheel is turning faster than the other, as said above
The suspension geometry is so far out,that this thing certainly isn't worth your money. The shocks are far too short,meaning that the shocks are bottoming out and causing the truck to flip on landing. If this were fitted with droop screws and the arms could be made to be more horizontal in aspect, then with taller shock towers and longer shocks,this may just perform a bit better.

Yeah, I’m sure it can be improved. But most people want to get something out the box and just run it. Shame, as I’m sure with a little more QC… it would have made the cut!
This was basically the first RC car I got. Well I got the legendary 1/10 brushed twin motor truck and it still works and with the extra battery it is still fun. Not in league with the 1000 dollar cars I’ve got now but

This review is excellent, I've been watching afew of your reviews today and thought I can't watch all the "BEST" reviews, I also need to know what to stay away from especially buying of Ebay for a first time RC car. This is one car that I'm glad to know stay well clear from. This car is worse than me and my adhd for going off on it's own tangent when given direct commands lol. Actually had me laughing how it decides HEYYYY I'm going far LEFT, FAR RIGHT, and rarely landing correctly.
It's a good thing to give honest opinions, no matter how much it makes you uncomfortable doing, these manufacturers should take it as valuable feedback and correct the errors to make a product worthy of receiving our hard earned £££'s or $$$'s. Thanks Tomley.
There's definitely something off with that truck, I don't even think it's worth getting to try and do it up. Just spend your cash on something better; plenty to choose from at that price point. Nice review, hopefully you've saved some people getting disappointed 👍

Can you overfill shocks? I recently assembled shocks for Tamiya the first time. The manual says until it gets out when you put the sealing in. That means to me exactly 100% oil in it.
Hi, I bought it from a xlf f22a model car. While driving, the screw of the rear wheel coupling with the engine fell off. Can you help me? I can't find this screw.

The chassis, arms, and shock towers make want to assume this is exactly the wltoys 104001 chassis

There are loads and loads of this type of truck being sold at the moment! Some are cheaper clones of clones. Others are just wierd amalgamations of different makes mashed into one. They keep popping up cheap on eBay. That looks like it may be one of those. Sometimes I buy a really cheap one to see what bits they've used in its construction. I bought a big basher the other day. It's got the running gear off a 1/10 buggy and the chassis of a 1/14 basher!! With the power of neither! 😄👍😄👍
I bought a clone thru AliExpress. I suspect the factory that builds this car will willingly work with whomever approaches them with an idea or 2 to hit a lower pricepoint. Mine is set up quite differently inside but mostly it seems they cheaped out on the remote and the battery.

I think you should crack that hard case lipo open so we can see the actual size of the battery! Bet it's the size of a 2200mah. I had a cheapo in the past like that.
The charger in this reminded me of the charger that came with my first rc car, it was 0.1 amps the battery was 900mah, it took 9 hours to charge the battery!

Have a red at lightning epx pro and had it for years. It never throttles straight. The rear right wheel has a bit of tow in. None of my toygrade cars converted to brushless have any problem going straight, just traction for some and keeping the nose down for others.
You should review the bezgar 1! It’s really cheap and a very good car for new people to the hobby
I can second this. The Bezgar 1 is a great starter car and the quality is WORLDS better than anything else in that hundred dollar range. Only complaint is the 5 wire servo.

It'd be a great car if you need a lot of exercise to lose weight since you have to pick it up every time they land

yes nice skatepark bash bud. I think if it was a bit cheaper it would be great to upgrade but not at that price. Red body and blue wheels did my head in 🤣👍

Honestly for that price id just get either zd racing zmt10 or the lc racing 1/14 line
LC Racing or even as a starter a WLToys 144001/124019 is more worth it.

What would you recommend instead of this rc?
I work a electronics retailer in Australia and we sold this exact same "truggy" over Xmas...
The store display had its steering die within a week... And 2 units returned by customers with the same issue ... Plus another that would die after 2 mins run time on a full battery!
My battery dies in 2 mins aswell. Same care in Australia. Might take it back
If you don't like it, I know a 6yr old who'd love to abuse it further 🤣 Good review! I can see why there wasn't a huge amount of enthusiasm towards it... hopefully it can be made better for very little outlay, looks to have potential!

I wouldn't buy something I would have to do loads of work on and have to replace the shocks immediately lol especially over 200 bucks It seems to be made well but it's set up horribly and the shocks completely suck lol Yeah I'd pass on this one for sure I like the fact you don't sugar coat things on your channel Your honestly means a lot mate 🔥👍✌️

It Looks like, it could use shorter Shockers.
Steering issue needs to be fixed & the Diffs need thicker oil or grease?
The question is: How much better will it be, after you do that??
I think I saw another review (can't remember who now) that had same issue with landing.
The reason it's pulling right could be because the diffs don't have any oil in. So it could be putting more power down on one side.
I had a ZD Racing truck that literally broke every time that I ran it. On the last run, I ran the truck and brought it in the house to turn off and it burst into flames when the esc shorted. I took everything off that I could salvage and threw it in the trash. Most of the breakage was poor quality plastic parts that broke constantly. I ordered a huge number of parts to be able to keep it running, but after half a dozen times of breakage, I threw everything in the trash!
I’ve had some good ZD Racing stuff. But then I’ve had and seen a few bad ones
Body shell reminds me of the old Schumacher xtr 3e
With no diff oil or way light, in any of the differentials will also cause the sway side decide because it can't make up which mind it wants to grab traction on, no oil will make it not go straight...

The dis is not bad. But needs so real tuneing to be good. What do the differantels look like. Vrx racing diffs are so so.
I like it but HSP does better for not much more expensive
Just put some big bore shocks on it, i bet it will make a world of a difference on landing,
If diffs were set up properly it may go straight, it's sending more power to one rear wheel than it is to the other
I think putting grease or oil in the diff may help, i think its torque steer
My guess is it needs softer springs and thicker oil and definitely diff fluid.
I wonder if the diffs are limited slip LOL? I like a Detroit locker!

Thanks for the review that I've seen after buying that piece of sh*t. I live where we have snow and the first five munutes and the thing is broken. Took 8 days to get the piece, changed it and lost a wheel, now, have to find where they sell those parts. What a piece of whatever you want to call it. This is a 300$ bunch of parts for a garbage can (up to me). The next days, I got a Kraton 6s that is one impressive thing.
Maybe if you get it to land its lid ( body ), it will bounce back on its feet. Who knows.
Maybe if the price point was more $130 then maybe it would be worth it somewhat. but I agree with you on this one I don't see the value. Well everyone have a great day and don't let off the throttle

The RC car kind of has potential, it's not a big brand so they probably didn't know how to adjust the shocks

Re shocks - either oil is too thick and/or springs too soft.
Try thinner oil first ;)

Looks like an Xmaxx but steering like a Mac Truck man 😝 the stuff BG sells sometimes make me wonder, but yet the smaller XLF F18 seems way better for the price. I think BG RC cars are best at the 1/16 scale any larger I find the specs too be weak.
You just didn’t look like it tickled you in any happy way so I don’t see why all these companies keep pumping these ones out like hot cakes when it’s just a knock off of something else cheaper (WLTOYS) which actually can land and drive straight 😝

Or all those issues are there as a safety meassure, so that you can't give it a proper rip, cause then, the ESC would go up in flames :-)
