    I wonder if they had built Sheppard statues across the galaxy after the conflict with the Reapers...
    Or in his epitaph it would read
    COMMANDER SHEPPARD
    "Fuck you Galactic Council.. I told you so!"

    Making peace between the Geth and the Quarians was one of the most awesome, ridiculously beautiful moments in Mass Effect, hell it was one of the best moments in Science Fiction in general.

    Can't get enough of the synth in the ME3 soundtrack. Say what you like about the game, but the synth was a welcome call back to the amazing ME1 soundtrack. None of that generic boring orchestra stuff, I want scifi music!

    The geth, with the exception of the heretics, only ever acted in self-defense. The Morning War was simply them fighting for survival against the quarians who panicked and wanted them exterminated, and as the quarians evacuated Rannoch the geth broke off pursuit, when they were fully capable of wiping the quarians out had they wanted. Even teaming up with the Reapers in ME3 was simply a move born out of desperation and the fear of annihalation. The quarians were always the aggressors.

    If you notice, though, the Geth were only defending themselves after the Quarians tried to wipe them out. Hell, the Geth love their creators. Some Quarians even died defending the Geth.
    Life has evolved to it's present state. Technology has it's own evolution. When it gets to the point that technology is alive, it could be destructive, but it could also be wise and peaceful far beyond what a human is capable of.

    That said, you can't really declare the quarians to be "bad guys," either, even if their stance was less sympathetic overall. Most had major misconceptions about the nature of the Morning War (assuming the geth would have exterminated them given the chance), and most of the civilians didn't want the war: they were simply drug into it by Gerrell and Xen.

    Wasent sucking the power out that killed him, does your computer get wiped if the battery runs out? No, Legion died because the upload required a "personality dissemination" or a complete breakdown of the programs that made up Legion. He broke himself down to upload the full code. The time he spent on the Normandy did change his views though, that is true. Legion effectively ceased to exist, yet now exists in all Geth. Still one of the saddest moments in ME3 i think :(

  • @Turk3YbAstEr
    @Turk3YbAstEr Před 12 lety

    The way I see it is that after the geth "became alive", the quarians freaked out and attempted to kill ALL geth. The geth, now being living beings fought back. the geth fought the quarians until they were defeated militarily (fleeing rannoch). The geth did not desire elimination of the quarians, the geth wanted to ensure their own survival. The geth also remembered the quarians who tryed to protect the geth, showing they did not bear animosity towards the quarians.

  • @AngelofUltramar
    @AngelofUltramar Před 12 lety

    Make sure you do the Geth Fighter mission on Rannoch, it explains what happened to the Quarians who wanted to free the Geth from enslavement originally as well as alot of cruelty that was done to both the early geth and the Quarian's who wanted to save them from thier fellows. It really does give a feeling that the Quarian's f-ed up big time.

  • @ABlackGuy55
    @ABlackGuy55 Před 12 lety

    if you remember correctly the geth allowed what Quarians remained to flee the system. before that the quarianshad no intention of letting up on the geth until everyone of them was destroyed.
    So if you wish to view it in a certain way then the geth were justifiedin the near extinction of the Quarians. If an enemy kept throwing themselves at you, seeking to kill every last one of your kind, not stopping until they realize theyhave almost done that to themselves, would you stop firing and let them?

  • @AngelofUltramar
    @AngelofUltramar Před 12 lety

    True enough, though there isn't a clear timeline between the beginning and the end of the morning war. Considering how little the Quarian's remember of the time its entirely possible they killed a large number of their own people before the Geth really started to get into a no-holds-bared war footing to avenge those who protected them. Its the fog of war but lets admit, compared to Mass Effect One there is, for justifiable reasons, more sympathy for the geth and caution for the Quarians side

  • @TheObserver1221
    @TheObserver1221 Před 12 lety

    True. I didn't mean just some hardware though, i mean that the programs that made up Legion began to think more as an individual than a mass of 1,376 programs(i forget how many programs he said were in him in ME2). Hence him saying "I" instead of "We" before he died. He broke down his very personality and added it with the code. I meant no offense, just adding to your explanation. Sad indeed that its unavoidable

    @escopeteroce Před 12 lety

    Blaming all the race for the actions of others is still unfair. The ones who forced the Geth to the Dawn's war were others, and the ones who wanted war no matter what were a couple of raving mad admirals and one to coward to do something about that madness (Not even all the admirals wanted that war).
    In any game the Quarians are wiped out there are still millions of innocents who died without deserving any bit of it.

  • @Jarbizu800
    @Jarbizu800 Před 12 lety

    Sarcasm is not conveyed easily through written language. Human beings (human robots) also often think of themselves or their race/species/sex/heritage as "the only good thing". So you could say that organics are just as bad, if not worse.
    If you're using the Reapers as an example, they don't count because they are actually the ultimate preservation of a species' genetic legacy.
    Geth are a much better example of how synthetics could be peaceful, loving, intelligent lifeforms.

    Living beings have the right to defend themselves, but the scale of their retaliation was unforgivable. 99% death rate is not "self-defense." That's genocide.
    Would you be so quick to jump to the defense of a neighbor who spent his days sitting on his porch, shooting anyone who stepped onto his lawn? One who killed the house's previous occupants after getting in a fight with one of them? One who watched with disinterest as his crazy cousin walked across the street and stabbed you? I think not.

  • @XelestialAurora
    @XelestialAurora Před 12 lety

    Both sides were equally as bad, and you need to remember some geth did not agree with the heretics. And why should they have cared about organic life at that time when all it had ever done was try to kill them? But to each his/her own. That's why there's choices in this game.

  • @FreemanicParacusia
    @FreemanicParacusia Před 12 lety

    Those are the facts. Legion admitted as much. That's the history, and that's how it influenced my outlook. I find their past actions unforgivable, and their current sincerity questionable at best. How and if you take these things into account in your final decision is your business, but that's my take on it.
    Sorry for my bluntness. I just get sick and tired of Geth apologists who are either ignorant of, or willingly ignore, the true nature of the situation. That's all.
