Ep 135 Are The British Virgin Islands Up and Running? Part 2

- In our long-delayed Part 2 of our tour of the British Virgin Islands, we again ask the question, “Are the BVIs ready for your planned charter or land-based vacation holiday?” To find the answer, you’ll have to jump into this episode and see for yourself.
We sail up from Tortola around the west side of Virgin Gorda, entering North Gorda Sound near Drakes Anchorage and Leverick Bay, then have a fast, fun rip across the sound as we beat up to Saba Rock Resort. We spend several days here on a mooring ball, sampling the food and sights at both Saba Rock, and then the newly rebuilt and reopened Bitter End Yacht Club and Resort.
Following that, it’s an early morning run back around to the “Baths”. The Baths are a constant draw and one of the true wonders of the BVIs. In something of a geological anomaly, huge rounded granite boulders replace the normal rough volcanic terrain, allowing for a challenging hiking trail with ladders and shallow pools, along with some of the best snorkeling on the planet. It’s a natural saltwater aquarium, filled with every manner of fish, turtles, starfish, eels, and you name it. And we captured some great footage of it all.

What's not to love? It appears you it the BVI at he right time! Activity, but not crammed. Perfect! I just pray they built it to take 150 mph-200 mph winds in the future! Really hard to do to keep it "in the BVI mood" and build it back to meet the new realities of the storms.
Well, for what it's worth, engineers I've talked to say nothing really survives a cat 5 hurricane if it falls directly on top of you. So you engineer for the best you can get. And I think that at some point wooden structures are sacrificial. But either way, that video was from last year, and I'll say that things have only gotten better since (we were there 4 weeks ago for a month or more). Thanks as always for being with us.

Good to see the regeneration of the BVI’s. We have sailed there a good few times and hope to get back there soon. We will probably charter as we have too much of the Med still to see on our yacht 👍⛵️. Great videos.
