      That’s why I never entitled the video “How to waste 10 years of your life”
      Eight days $200 and the car is back on the road, and it will never rust. I will do a follow video in a few years to show how good it’s holding up.
      Either way thanks for watching 👍

    Top notch quality 👌 on a budget, Amazing 👏 indeed. Many years ago, in 1980 my grandfather spent over 8k repairing rust on his 1970 250C coupe much more than what the car was worth at the time in Massachusetts!! Unfortunately a few years later it started to rust again! Yes, rubberized undercoating does not work for rustproofing it only makes it rust faster! The Mercedes 250C rust was re repaired then the other body shop used some type of yellow oily substance with wax sprayed underneath everymetal panel under the car, inside doors and inner headlight fender mounts. Amazingly the 250C never rusted again! However it was a very expensive job and rustproof treatment! Great content, excellent work! 👍

      Greetings from Namibia! I am perplexed! You did all that over a garden bench. Where can I buy such a great bench? Seriously you are very talented! I was wondering about you covering all the old solid metal work. Thinking that would all just rust out again. But your solution was very clever. I've used ATF in body cavities which works very well. I liked your molding about the front wheel rocker area which is notoriously difficult to do. Really very good. Thanks so much Stefan

    For a super-fast job, I played this at double speed!
    I used to pump 90 weight gear-oil into rockers and wheel arches of my old cars. If they had already started rusting, this would usually stop it, or slow it way down!

    Great video! You did a great job showing how to get a tremendous result with very little in the way of sophisticated tools and equipment. I really enjoyed watching it!
    I bought a 280SE 4.5 for $250, the rockers are mint and redone under previous ownership, but I have a lot of other rust to address elsewhere. This is definitely putting me in the mood to get that thing sorted out.

    Man, your video blew my mind.
    I'm just tuning the engine on my 1969 280s, after rebuilding both zenith carbs.
    Rust has started bubbling up all over the place on my merc in the last year.
    Was considering selling it off for parts.
    But you have inspired me enough that now considering storing it out of rain, while I learn to weld.
    How hard is it to master welding thin steel like that? How long to learn you think?
    Great work - I'm going to check out more of your clips!

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey I appreciate the positive feedback. Welding is easy for some people but hard for others, the welder that I use is just the cheapest one nothing special, but I did go to college for welding, but tac welding is not that hard.
      Also that work took me three months, the video makes it seem like I did it in two days LOL. Good luck with your project, I will keep posting videos on my Mercedes anytime I do anything to it. Make sure you rust prove it, so it doesn’t rust anymore. Good luck

    How often do you spay oil in those rockers to prevent the rust and do you spray it in until it fills them up or just to coat everything then run out the bottom?

  • @vanblindguy4600
    @vanblindguy4600 Před rokem

    On your rockers it looks like you just laid the new metal over the old how did that not screw up the panel gaps or even possibly the clearance between the rocker and the door?
