I only love your bending bench dude!Lol.Frankenstein job!
That’s why I never entitled the video “How to waste 10 years of your life”
Eight days $200 and the car is back on the road, and it will never rust. I will do a follow video in a few years to show how good it’s holding up.
Either way thanks for watching 👍
You are amazing! Fixing a Mercades right there in the backyard... my dad used to do that just like you. Reminds me of my young days at grandma's house! Perfect video and fantastic job!
Thanks, I appreciate you saying that
Hi dude !
i just fall on your video (dont worry i'm not injured), i'm working on a 1963 w110 and got the same rust problem ! you can see it on my french youtube channel.
Thank you for showing all the steps of how you've done , it really help me to put my rotting mercedes back on the road !
cheers from France !
Jim
Thank you from Canada
What a great job you are truly super talented.
Thank you! Cheers!
I learn something every time I watch your videos thank you for sharing
Thanks for the feedback Robert, and thanks for watching
Top notch quality 👌 on a budget, Amazing 👏 indeed. Many years ago, in 1980 my grandfather spent over 8k repairing rust on his 1970 250C coupe much more than what the car was worth at the time in Massachusetts!! Unfortunately a few years later it started to rust again! Yes, rubberized undercoating does not work for rustproofing it only makes it rust faster! The Mercedes 250C rust was re repaired then the other body shop used some type of yellow oily substance with wax sprayed underneath everymetal panel under the car, inside doors and inner headlight fender mounts. Amazingly the 250C never rusted again! However it was a very expensive job and rustproof treatment! Great content, excellent work! 👍
Thanks, thanks for the feedback and the information
I really like your style! Using what you have, no fancy metal bending tools, just what anybody can use at home. And what a great result!
Thx 🙏🏻
@@ProblemSolverGarage I'm with Phillip. I love that about your videos. I was thinking of making a channel for simple basic w108 DIY hacks.
Greetings from Namibia! I am perplexed! You did all that over a garden bench. Where can I buy such a great bench? Seriously you are very talented! I was wondering about you covering all the old solid metal work. Thinking that would all just rust out again. But your solution was very clever. I've used ATF in body cavities which works very well. I liked your molding about the front wheel rocker area which is notoriously difficult to do. Really very good. Thanks so much Stefan
10k subscribers, exactly. Congratulations!
I know that’s awesome
Thx
For a super-fast job, I played this at double speed!
I used to pump 90 weight gear-oil into rockers and wheel arches of my old cars. If they had already started rusting, this would usually stop it, or slow it way down!
yeah I totally works
Bloody brilliant
Thanks
I have come to this channel a bit late I have been amazed at your technique and the outcome!
You do some really nice work there
Wow....you are amazingly skilled! The fact you can recreate all the shapes using just a bench is incredible....you are an actual artist!
Thx
I really enjoyed watching this… even though I was in a rush to go work on my truck. Transmission fluid is the perfect oil to remove and prevent rust. Just remember, I don’t want anyone else to know, just us.
Nice thanks
Great video! You did a great job showing how to get a tremendous result with very little in the way of sophisticated tools and equipment. I really enjoyed watching it!
I bought a 280SE 4.5 for $250, the rockers are mint and redone under previous ownership, but I have a lot of other rust to address elsewhere. This is definitely putting me in the mood to get that thing sorted out.
Thanks and good luck
Good job
Thx
Nice work! I am doing similar things to my old Mercedes this spring...
Thanks, I love that car. Good luck with your project
i'm going to get me a bench at the Home Depot 😋nice video
Thx
This is absolutely amazing
Thx
That’s awesome! Amazing work.
Thx
Very well done, best tip at the end to spray inside with oil. Also like how you wear a proper mask while sanding etc. Great job!
Thx 🙏🏻
That’s awesome 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks appreciate it
Thank you, this video is super inspiring and instructive, and I'm going to use some of your techniques on my 1977 280E that I'm restoring! Best wishes from Vancouver!
Thanks from Ontario
Impressive work! Great skills!
Thx
I like your style. You rock! Get’er Done! Good stuff.
Thx 🙏🏻
Amazing 👏
you're a wizard!
Thanks
another great contribution!!! loved every minute of it...now I can start with my '83 W123 300TD - "yellowmellow" But first i have the issue of transmission slipping
Thanks for watching, good luck with your transmission work coming up
Awesome job, tremendous results,👌👍☝️☝️👍👌
Thx 🙏🏻

A welder is a special tool. Lol
Fantastic job!
Thx
Absolutely amazing!! What a great feeling that is to bring this very beautiful car back from ruin! Great video!!
Thx 🙏🏻
Man, your video blew my mind.
I'm just tuning the engine on my 1969 280s, after rebuilding both zenith carbs.
Rust has started bubbling up all over the place on my merc in the last year.
Was considering selling it off for parts.
But you have inspired me enough that now considering storing it out of rain, while I learn to weld.
How hard is it to master welding thin steel like that? How long to learn you think?
Great work - I'm going to check out more of your clips!
Hey I appreciate the positive feedback. Welding is easy for some people but hard for others, the welder that I use is just the cheapest one nothing special, but I did go to college for welding, but tac welding is not that hard.
Also that work took me three months, the video makes it seem like I did it in two days LOL. Good luck with your project, I will keep posting videos on my Mercedes anytime I do anything to it. Make sure you rust prove it, so it doesn’t rust anymore. Good luck
damn you are good! going to do some welding on my w123 280E
Thanks and good luck with your project
nice!
Thx 🙏🏻
awesome
Thx
Leżajsk 👍😁 Pozdro z Polski👍
Damm bro great
Thanks for watching
I really like that tack in place then bend to shape technique. Smart. I am just a learner with welding myself.
👍 You can do it ;)
Amazing work! Do you have the names of the priming products you used? Can you weld through them? Thanks!
-self etching primer one can
-4K I build primer(primer paint)
-Regular body filler
Polyurethane single stage paint with Hardner and reducer
Outstanding work dude !!!!
What about the jack holes?
They are just a memory know
What tread you use for the welding machine? the type you use with gas or without gas?
Flux core, no gas
The gas is coded into the wire
👍
How often do you spay oil in those rockers to prevent the rust and do you spray it in until it fills them up or just to coat everything then run out the bottom?
Just enough to coat everything, I do it before every winter so once a year, I do it to all my vehicles
@@ProblemSolverGarage thanks
On your rockers it looks like you just laid the new metal over the old how did that not screw up the panel gaps or even possibly the clearance between the rocker and the door?
There’s more than enough room to double it up
Love your channel! Just purchased a 1969 Mercedes. Have you taken the dash apart yet?
Yes years ago, I repainted all the wood, lots a little hidden screws, wish I made a video about it
Here’s the channel name in case the link doesn’t work
Tom Dizzski
How often do you oil, each season or one and done?
Just once per year,
When it starts to dry out do it again and eventually it just becomes a permanent thing and then the vehicle never rusts
at 5:25 holy crap you did an amazing job! By the way I took a body class once I would like to get back into this stuff again.
How did you know to round that panel out like that for that exact fit?
The 69 benz turned out nice at the end. quite an accomplishment. Great job!!
Thanks. I first make the template out of cardboard, I just have a knack for it I guess. Thanks for watching
Dobra robota , sam będę robił tylko skąd wezmę taką ławkę ogrodową 😷👍
Dzienki
How thick was the metal
Just regular metal off of a roof of a minivan
@@ProblemSolverGarage nice job, solid and also the results are good
Was the repair for yourself or a customer?
Myself
I may know of a 68 280 se for sale
Nice
@@ProblemSolverGarage

$200? Ok I'll pay you $200 and you can do this to my car.
Lol
Labor not included
Ok i never buy old car finally🥴
this was more than $200 im sure to repair.
Just paint and body filler
Good skills indeed, but that W108 is not fixed or repaired, it is patched or hacked...
This is not the proper way to fix the merc, it's only a ceap 200 dollar makover...
Yeah but it's been a few years now and I've been driving it nonstop for years.
Couldn't have done it differently but then it would've taken 10 years and thousands and thousands of dollars.
Thanks for watching
All of you like too much bondo as i hate it!
Look, yes it’s not perfect but it looks really good and it only took me eight days and it only cost me $200, 20 years from now I’ll still be driving the car and it will be rust free.
I’ll do a video in a few years on how it’s looking
