  • Hello everyone !
In this 6th episode, I visit the wetlands of Ninh Binh province. I arrive in Tam Coc, famous tourism area with many hostels, restaurants and nature to visit. A famous place to stay is the Banana Tree hostel (if you don't mind not sleeping much haha).
The construction of dykes have flooded many area of the province, which created these beautiful, biodiversity-rich wetlands that people can explore on rowing boats. This is what we did in Van Long water reserve, 30 min motorbike ride from Tam Coc. On our way back, we stopped at the Bai Dinh Pagoda, the biggest temple complex in Vietnam, built in 2010 next to an ancient pagoda further up in the hills. This place is a famous pilgrimage site for many buddhists and holds ancient relics from Burma and India. They are held in the Bao Thap Tower, the tallest stupa of Vietnam.
After saying hello to the ducklings at the Buffalo Cave, we walked up the Ngoa Long mountain and got a stunning view of the wetlands !
Finally, we continued our journey southwards and stopped in Phong Nha, very famous for its cave systems. This region hosts Son Doong cave, the biggest cave in the world which costs 3000$ to visit and consists of a meat one-week-long expedition. Instead we visited Paradise cave. We couldn't leave Phong Nha without saying hello to more ducks at the Duck Stop where Martijn couldn't stop laughing !
