- 👋 In todays video it's time to take a look at the first generation Dodge Challenger and compare it to the latest generation! We film so many brand new vehicles that it's awesome when we get the chance to review where the cars came from and how they drive along with any special features! This first generation Dodge Challenger is the R/T model which stands for Road and Track! It's in very great shape and you can see in this comparison how similar the exteriors are and how they have slightly changed over the years! This latest generation for the Challenger looks very identical with slightly differences, but overall you can see the same design and theme! The exteriors look much more similar than the interior does! With modern technology, the interior is light years ahead with all the controls including launch control, the navigation and all those settings and even the digital gauge cluster! The both have a great exhaust note too and the driving is so different! Even at slow speeds, the first generation really has to be driven! You have to work the clutch because it is very stiff and with the large wooden steering wheel, it's much different to turn! It's much louder on the interior as well, but I can see why people would want to buy this, you just hope in the car and drive! It's a fun experience for sure! Then you hope into the Hellcat with more than double the horsepower and you can feel and see the refinements, as well as the ease to drive! The driving is completely different with suspension upgrades, larger brakes and much more refinements, you can daily the third generation all day! The first generation could be driven everyday, but it's definitely a fun weekend toy!

Glad you were able to do this comparison! The old school Challenger is very hard to find and it was nice to see you take time to review that one because I've been keeping up with cars all my life. It seemed like the new Challenger had a weak battery because it struggled to crank up, haha

Awesome stuff man. I have a 15 Challenger i remember when i was looking to buy one i made sure i got atleast a 15 3rd gen cause i saw a comparison of the 2nd gen. Ever since that ov always wanted a comparison with the original so this was an awesome video. Id love to see someone do the same yhing but get the 2nd gen in there two and compare all 3 generations, especially since Challenger might be dead again after 2023
I know for a fact that they didn’t have a 5 speed manual transmission in 71. They were 4 speed so the transmission has been changed and isn’t original. That will affect the value. Cars that are all original are always worth more.
How do you know that? From what I researched and found, this car is completely original.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I was born in 55 and remember when the Challenger first appeared in 1970. A 5 speed transmission was unheard of back then and wouldn’t appear until the 1980s.
This is probably the only car out there where the new one looks just as cool as the old one! 🤔

The older model looks finer , healthier. Leaner .. the recent looks like a tub, fatso.like a mini truck Heavier... sumo wrestler lookalike. Older looks faster & younger model looks slow and heavy ...

Haha yeah, even with 800 HP, it's really not that fast because of how heavy and bulky it is!

Not fair hellcats top-of-the-line 440 wasn't top-of-the-line and 71 426 Hemi was that would be more fair. I know this is off-topic I was reading modern motorwise Chevy did the best with the ZL1 matching 650 horsepower and 650 pounds of torque I think that's the first time somebody match torque and horsepower evenly same torque as the Hellcat with 57 less horsepower
These were the only two Challengers they had, so that's what I had to work with. It wasn't so much the trim vs trim, but the first generation in general compared to the latest. The Camaro has some crazy horsepower and torque! The Wrangler puts out 470 and 470, same numbers as well! Just another example!

Lol, not literally, just the weight. If I mentioned that which I don’t remember, this is a massive two door vehicle! Have you never heard that? “This thing is a boat” meaning it’s heavy.

Did you listen to the video? I clearly mentioned I wasn’t comparing the trim levels, this is what I had to work with..
