  • I've been excited to finally get my hands on this new foundation. Clinique has always been a brand that I've trusted with more mature skin, but will the Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation agree with my dry skin....or will it be a complete disaster?

I'm "Team Love It". I've been wearing this on my 71 year old face for several months. As a matter of fact I just opened a Sephora box with a second shade of this foundation in it to match my faux tan skin a little better. Even though I have mature skin I don't have dry skin. Maybe a patch or two from prescription Tretinoin, but nothing to make me dislike this foundation. Enjoyed your review, Gemma. I'm always thankful when reviews are thorough like this one. 👍🏻

Hi thanks for this review. I am wearing this foundation through a NZ winter, normal to slightly dry skin. As long as I keep my skin really hydrated, this foundation wears super well throughout the day, and totally agree - you only need a small amount to cover your face.

I find I usually like the foundations you like as we have very similar skin & also coverage likes. I have tried this & I usually cannot wear Clinique foundations , but I really like it. This foundation looks really good on the perimeters of your face! There it looks absolutely flawless! (It looks good all over too, but I see what you mean with that it is not as forgiving to texture or dryness as it could be). It would be interesting to see if this foundation could play well together with another foundation then one could put this on the outer perimeter and a more texture forgiving formula on the middle of the face… ❣️

I have been using this and I am normal to dry skin. I would definitely say use a hydrating primer underneath and it sits lovely all day. I use Laura Mercier hydrating primer and it works.
Without a good primer it can cling to dry areas and go patchy.
And yes less is more with this 😁

I actually love this foundation for my mature normal skin @60+, it’s been my go to foundation for a little while now since I purchased it here in Australia 🇦🇺, I’m wondering how it would work on your Mum, to get her opinion on it as well, you could actually see it flaking on your chin area but that was up close and personal but from a distance it looked quite lovely 🥰, I apply it with a damp sponge and it gives me a flawless look. 💖💖

I’ve been a Clinique junkie for over 20 years (mostly for their fragrance-free skin care) and have never got on that well with any of their foundations or shade matches… but it doesn’t stop me trying. I bought this after watching Michelle Wang’s review (she loves it). It looked great initially after application and I used it sparingly as I was aware it was classed as full coverage. As the day wore on, it settled into my ‘creases’ but only really evident when I scrutinised it in my 10x magnifying mirror 😁. I like it, I don’t love it. I will use it up and not repurchase. My go-to’s are still Estee Lauder and Laura Mercier.

This was the first serum foundation that I tried several months ago, and I wound up returning it to Ulta. I was never able to get it to sit properly, it seemed patchy. I have normal skin, I am 51, and my biggest skin concern is redness related to some sensitivity. I have since tried the Bobbi Brown serum foundation and really like the way it goes on and how it lasts for the day. I get a kick out of British people saying it is so hot and muggy: I live in Texas and we have been having 100*+ days for the last month or so, usually with 80-90% humidity. I lived in London for years so I understand the weather there!

Didn't crease or enhance any dry areas. What I loved is it gave me the full coverage I need for my blemished and scarred skin without looking cakey and it wasn't as matte as my Teint Idole. I prefer a more natural, skin-like finish but it creases on my chin and forehead whereas I never encounter the same problem with other satin foundation. I tried to use light handedly and mix with more moisturizer to reduce the texture but doesnt work so far. However it work tremendously well for my friend who has oily skin and it kinda blends to her like skin. Its not for me :')

I have the same thoughts on this foundation. I like it directly after the application, but throughout the day, I feel it dries me out. When I read "Serum Foundation" I thought it was hydrating, which it is not. Over all it might be a good foundation but not for me...

  • @isabelab6851
    @isabelab6851 Před 3 lety

For me the verdict is still out…some days it looks great…some days it does not. I don’t always use exactly the same primer, etc…but since I rotate things, it is hard to keep it straight. It reminds me of the Hourglass Foundation.
I like the concealer better. But still mot give enough up…it is summer now and this is where it is going to have to shine

  • @marie-christinejeannotte682

I tried to like it but I can't wear this without it cracking and sliding in my fine wrinkles. The end result is that I look way older with bad skin. The even better spf15 works best.

When I first got this foundation I hated it. Then I watched a Taylor Wynn vid where she said she uses Paulas Choice BHA 2% salicylic acid before she applies all her other stuff so I tried that method and that made the biggest difference in how this applies and wears. I am now in love with this foundation and I swear my skin looks better and better under it but even if you use the BHA and you have dry skin it will still show flaky bits at the end of the day.

Thanks for this tip. I use the PC BHA but usually just under tinted mineral sunscreen. I think it gives the skin a bit of glow and controls oil. I’m tempted now to get the foundation. I like the idea of high coverage but used very sparingly to cover redness on my cheeks.

@@louisem2097 I hope you can grab a sample first to try it out as the clinique foundation is rather pricey. I really liked using the PC BHA under the foundation as it smoothed out my pores so the foundation didn't make them stand out as much :). Good luck and I hope it works for you.

@@amandaf5664 Such a good point. So easy to splurge on makeup or skincare only to find it doesn’t suit you. I do quite like the Revlon Colorstay foundation for combination/oily skin. It is about 1/3 price of this Clinique foundation and is good at not going shiny or oxidising, quite a matt finish, doesn’t highlight pores and you don’t need much to get good coverage. The only problem is that it contains fragrance which is quite strong and I have very sensitive skin so limit my use of it. The Clinique foundation would be better in that respect 😊

To be fair to the foundation, it's not marketed for dry skin.
I reckon this will be excellent for combination/oily skin. I imagine that the drying aspect (possibly due to the salicylic acid) is perfection for these skin types.
As your Mum has combination skin maybe this would be smashing for her (there you are Jan, I'm looking out for you so you don't have to shuffle it into your handbag when your Gemma's not watching, 🤣😂🤣).

I was massively disappointed with this foundation. I expected a much lighter, more becoming texture. It looked awful on my skin, like spackled on. Much too strong coverage. It stuck to my dry patches terribly. It still sits on my shelf and I keep trying different methods of application … no luck so far. It also dries down very fast and looks still more unbecoming then. Not for me.

Interesting that a damp sponge applicator is the preferred method since the foundation is waterproof. Question, I am Cool pale complexioned and have never used a neutral tone like you. Would neutral wash out a pale skin? (That’s why I ‘ve hesitated) Sometimes cool tone is sold out (weird!). BTW, we in the US can’t get some of your products either 😈.
