I loved the natural surprised reaction of Ghana. She did not expect her name to be called. Her expression is priceless.
I am in total awe of Miss Ghana's skin complexion. Flawless! i noticed Miss USA smiling at the beginning of the top 10 announcement and then it faded away later on as her name was not called.
This year have one of the best top 10 ever !!

yes i agree totally, even as a Filipino myself, Mpule's answer is one in a million, a honest and direct answer, she has also a kind and warm personality. Miriam did well in the past rounds, she exuded class and athleticism but in the question, just what like the commentators said "she choked", the two of them are truly excellent ladies....!!!!

Ese año hubo sorpresas,como la exclusión de Miss USA (Kimberly Pressler)la razón (?),no se dieron a conocer los puntajes preeliminares y Miss Trinidad & Tobago (la anfitriona,una Miss India pasada de peso.Por segunda vez desde 1995 Mexico se cuela al Top 10,se rumora que Silvia Salgado quedo casi empatada con Miss Francia Mareva Galanter y hubo que desempatarlas por décimas quedando fuera la francesa y obteniendo su pase a las semifinales la mexicana.
WTF... Miss Philippines should have won... that woman was GORGEOUS.

it was also the first year i think, that no blondes managed to crack the top 10. also just coincidence the semifinalist who were positioned on the right side of the stage all ended up on the left side while the semifinalist who stood up on the left side all ended up on the right. also the first semi-finalist were in pink.
I dont see the significance of what you said about the first semifinalist wearing a pink dress.
I love Venezuela's reaction. She was so beautiful.

Una vez mas queda comprobado que el miss universo no gana la mas linda. Las mas bellas eran miss filipinas Miriam, miss Mexico y miss españa.pero miss Botswana demostro tener otros atributos aparte que la joven es bonita, entonses asi es el miss universo.

A pity miss Curacao didn't advance to the top-10, placed 11th just behind Mexico!
I guess this is one of the few editions that USA didn't make it to the semifinals of Miss Universe.
And, Philippines is having difficulty of making it to the semifinals because it is the organizer of the Miss Earth beauty pageant. What do you think? >_

i am a filipino,we should not be racist to ms.botswana..she is smarter that's why she won..tama na..we should accept the result..miriam is remarkable for HER performance khit 1st runner up.ok na rin yun...dapat proud tayo...!!!

Yo realmente creo que ese año lamejor era Puerto Rico, una chama Bella, y el cuerpo es el mejor que he visto has ahora parece una guitarra, vena el video en traje de baño y vean a puerto Rico demasiado perfecta. No entiendo la puntuación taN BAJA. Ghana y Jamaica eran horribles, pero por lo menso jamaica fue la mejor en pasarela.

Colombia didn't make it but this is a punishment for the organization of Miss Colombia that sometimes pay more attention to the money of the delegates than to their beauty.The girl who represented the country in 1999 won Miss Colombia pageant because she was high class and her mother was a delegate in MC pageant too.
She was cute but there was another girl that was just stunning and breath taking, Paulina Galvez (middle class) who ended as 1st runner up...but she won Miss International

ese año no estuvo colombia en el top10 que porqueria marianella es de las reinas mas bellas que haya tenido colombia una niña con una sonrisa expectacular y clase lastima todos pensamos que por fin colombia traeria la corona perdida desdes luz marina zuluaga bueno fue muy triste para nosotros pero que podemos hacer una corona mas robada....

Yeah..been into beauty contests since I was 11, when Miss U was held in my country. I started to lose interest on it because it's almost the same country. I got USA, India, Venezuela, Puerto Rico already on top 10 and just guess what countries will fill on the rest of the spot. No doubt that those countries we're good but it's becoming predictable and boring.

milagro que U.S.A. no quedó entre las semifinalistas, sea como sea de más de 55 versiones de este certamen Estados Unidos no ha quedado entre las semifinalistas tan sólo 3 o 4 vecez, puede ser la más chaparra, la más narizona, la más vieja o la menos simpática y casi siempre queda al menos en el top 10
