back in the 90's they had a whipmaster at the local ren Fair who did all sorts of whip tricks and stuff, most of which was precision whipping stuff, like cans and such but the highlight of his performance was cutting the ace of spades his assistant held in half... as he rode past on horseback. That being said this guy is also really good being able to teach them with such speed and ease.
Back when RAIDERS first came out in 1981 I decided to recreate the character for Halloween and luckily began four months in advance since it took that long to assemble an accurate costume. But there were two other things that were far more difficult including learning to use a bullwhip. I practiced daily on the rooftop of my downtown San Francisco apartment building for over a month before I was finally able to pop balloons and snuff out candles from 8' away, but not without first cutting up my forearm in the process due to back lashing... painful lessons to learn! But by October 31st I wowed spectators wherever I prowled those hills. And the other difficult thing I had to learn? Since I was a confirmed Gin drinker, that would be knocking back Jack Daniels straight like Indy did in the film!
I can’t forget the scene at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana cracks his whip on the hand of one of his followers when he was about to fire his pistol.
DeLongis used to be on the stage combat team at my fencing club. Wasn't a bad sabre fencer. He taught stage combat skills to Catherine Zeta Jones for "Zorro." and also played Firstr Maje Cullah oin Star Trek. Voyager.

The first one to work with Harrison Ford on the bull whip was actually Lash la Rue, but they won't tell you that. He was actually named King of the bull whip. I was blessed to have met him twice when I was a little girl.
Indie still didn't have time for all that windup. As presented in the movie, the badguy had the hammer cocked. (That's what alerted him to the gun, pointed at him, from behind.) Disarming someone with a whip, yeah sure. Beating someone with a gun pointed at your back? Not bloody likely. The trigger only has to go back a couple millimeters, while the whip has to go about 10 feet, coiled at his belt.
The guy was probably shocked at what he was doing, he was probably confused at what he was doing so he didn't do anything, and remember you gotta have a lot of guts to shoot someone willingly
Is it clear the guy's intent was to actually shoot? Maybe he wasn't yet 100% sure he wanted to do that, maybe he was sure, but losing his resolve, maybe he only intended to threaten or intimidate Indy.
i thought it was hollywood bogus that the whip can precisely wrap around the revolver and be pulled away, BOY WAS I STUNNED when they actually DID the trick after learning for a short while!!!
wrong, they did not use bullwhips on slave farms. They used a rope and birch most often, like this revealinghistories.org.uk/inc/img.php/tpl/uploads/images/galleries/243/slavewhipphm2.jpg/371/1/fill, which was also used as corporal punishment in prisons, the navy, and the army.
I know it's spitting into the wind to leave a youtube comment on a pirate channel, but the fact neither of these dinguses wore a fencing mask while being whipped a few feet away blows me mind.
@@BurmaJ I think there were novel versions of the young Indiana jones tv series episodes. I’d guess the show came before the books but I might be wrong
“The grab and tug is clearly plausible.”
Thats insane. I read it at the same second the teller said that. Get the fuck out of here. Now im scared. Seriosly dont fucking come near me boy.
Well I could have told you that from… field research.

The mantra of single men everywhere.
Show: Don't try this at home.
Me: *Instantly buys a whip*
😂 same here!🤠
Anthony DeLongis has whip training videos... 😁
Same 😂
Buying a whip is the quickest way to truly appreciate those movie scenes where someone is being whipped across the back.
Well, it's been 3 years. Are you any good at using it?
Can we appreciate the Indy look Adam has, it's pretty accurate
He makes all his stuff
His pants are amazing!
I think the only thing hes missing are indys boots, the rest is accurate.
i mean, adam is borderline a master of simple cosplay
2:53 congratulations you help him to aim the gun on you..
Fun fact about Anthony, he is also the voice actor for Marshal Johnson in Red Dead Redemption

What this shows is, that you can guide the gun right at your general direction by using the whip.
Precisely, good to sacrifice yourself to save another, but not to self defense though.
@@jeturpo right
True, but bear in mind, they're wearing protective gloves. Getting hit by Indy's whip without protective gear is gonna hurt.
@@jeturpo yea but hitting their hand would make them drop the gun
Try shooting a gun on target while something pulls your hand. It’s hard enough to accurately shoot something while standing still at 10 yards
2:05 "that's cool and all, but can you take away my infinity stone?"

I grew up watching this show ive seen every episode atleast 3 times this is one of my all time favorites
I met Anthony at L.A. Whip Con in 2017-ish. Super chill guy, very helpful, and had a whip that cracked effortlessly.
I can’t forget the scene at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana cracks his whip on the hand of one of his followers when he was about to fire his pistol.
I just learned Anthony De Longis played the Marshall in Armadillo in RDR! A true cowboy!
Man whips are dangerous, I cant believe they didnt use any protection for the face while learning and stuff that could have gone real horribly

Ah Marshal Johnson good to see you again.
This can pretty much be used for Castlevania
The first one to work with Harrison Ford on the bull whip was actually Lash la Rue, but they won't tell you that. He was actually named King of the bull whip. I was blessed to have met him twice when I was a little girl.
Can’t believe that’s Marshall Johnston from Red Dead Redemption. Boy, the times have gotten away from me.
For who is interested to know this Whip Master, is the same guy who played the Kazon "Maj Cullah" in Star Trek Voyager 🙂
That sound to every time he hits the wip in air
A whip easily slices through skin it’s a scary tool.
Amazon parcel arriving today lol 😂
Anthony DeLongis the whip master and the voice of Marshal Leigh Johnson in “RED DEAD REDEMPTION”
This brought me great hope
The best thing about this is the way that whip sounds
Think about it they hate each other, but keep professional about it
Adam keep hitting Jamie like that and he keep calm about it, so professional.
0:43 that is the voice actor of Marshall Johnson in Red Dead Redemption
4:31 LOL best at of the vid
You know the black brotha in the camera crew started sweating when Mr Longis de Dickus starts waving his whip.

I learned how to grab stuff with a whip by watching this
Every single bad guy taking notes if they see Indiana Jones
Ok , now I want a whip
You can get one at a pawn shop.

Fun fact this whip master played Marshall Johnson in red dead redemption
Time to go belmont style!
Their problem is that the baddie was bare-handed, so it would hurt even more.
Duh
If jaime didn't use a glove he would probably only have 1 working hand so don't blam him
Anthony also trained Michelle phfiefier for catwoman
“Whip Master” what a cool job tittle
And i think Indiana Jones had a much longer whip length as the moves went
In reality I think they had different lengths for different shots.
I like Jamie’s mustach
Work In Progress was a great pun
It’s the pain that makes you drop the gun.

I have been whipped with a bull whip before and it leaves welts that sting like hell so I agree it would make you drop something you are holding.

They must have deleted the segment where the black guy walks in, sees 3 white men with whips, says, "hail nah!" and walks out.
I know it's spitting into the wind to leave a youtube comment on a pirate channel, but the fact neither of these dinguses wore a fencing mask while being whipped a few feet away blows me mind.
Striking at someone else's hand would definitely lose their grip on a gun so wearing a protective glove is counter-productive.
same dude that wiped Rhett from GMM on the butt xD so awesome hearing adam liking him so much, rhett and link did to :D

The big question - the wind up for the whip attack is so slow and obvious, could you get a shot off before you got hit?
2:02 close one tho

😂 who would give two men who despise each other whips 😅
Well turns out I have been whipping correctly, the reason do not have to specified why I whip.
