- Five months before the release of Men At Work's second album (Cargo), they unleashed one of its songs on an unsuspecting Hamburg crowd on the closing date of their 1982 tour. For a relatively new song, the band had such a kinetic energy about them and turned in a performance for the ages. Ron Strykert's guitar solo especially was fantastic, while Greg Ham's New Wave style vocals and impish dancing kept things lively. It's a real shame that they couldn't manage to get along and basically fell apart after the tour to support Cargo. Leader Colin Hay managed to push out a third album in 1985, but without the power rhythm section of Jerry Speiser on drums and John Rees on bass, it just wasn't the same.

Certainly Men At Work wasn't be so sucessful without Ron Strykert. He created de "sound" of Men At Work.
Ron Stryker, wow, que magnífica interpretación, impresionante
dave idmarx: thanks for posting. Happy Birthday today(August 18) to Ron Strykert. Cheers!🥨
dave idmarx: thanks for posting. Happy Birthday today(June 29) to Colin Hay. Cheers!🥨
Brilliant band. My childhood favorite right there.
Same. Got their first two albums for my 13th birthday in '83 and there was no looking back.
Greg Hamm was a ball of energy . R.I.P BROTHER ✌🙏❤
Ron's guitar solo is legendary...and Greg is just so darned adorable.Great performance!
Impressionante assolo di Ron Strykert. Ma veramente da urli, io non capisco perché questo chitarrista sia stato così sottovalutato. E' di una bravura immensa.
Excelente performance de Ron Strykert, Jerry Speiser y Greg Ham (R.I.P.)
My 2nd album and I loved to dance to this one upstairs in my house - what a workout, what a year - 1983-4, what band, what a solo!
@dave idmarx - Thank you for uploading! I like to listen to Men at Work all day long.....I-like-to....... ;)
Frankly speaking, and I think I' m not the only one, Colin Hay has always been my favorite MAW. His voice, his songwriting and his whole attitude were and still are fascinating. Nevertheless I still do like the old songs from Men at Work more. Sure, Colin's Solo career is brilliant, even the comedian parts during his gigs, he is a great entertainer by all means. But actually I miss the time with the band and I prefer listening to the old stuff, which never became boaring to me. Business As Usual and Cargo are masterpieces! By the way...I am still impressed by Ron's guitar skills and I wonder how often I listened to his solo in this track. My favorite song, sung by Greg Ham, may he rest in peace, was Helpless Automaton. No need to mention his flute and sax and keyboard skills and Jerry Speiser's brilliant drumplaying. I mean, never saw a drummer before wearing an apron which so much dignity! xD John Rees was the silent but solid one. :) What a band! Sorry, I got carried away by the old times. If I HAD to choose one favorite song, difficult thing, I tell ya, I think, I would choose Overkill.
Ronno doing the biz on Yamaha sc800😁
Word up
What a great song
He always played for the song but he is a very talented guitar player.
The guitar solo is spectacular. The best I've ever heard.
Ron is an incredible guitarrist, sadly underrated.
Couldn’t agree more. As a guitarist and singer myself. I’ve been trying to dissect this solo by ear. So hard and it’s such a fast solo, especially in this live version.
Also love how he plays it with such accuracy and ferocity as well.
Ron Strykert's phrasing is wonderful
His playing on the Cargo album is beautiful, every solo is really well thought out and played. And hardly any vibrato, so the notes ring out.
Este solo me electriza
That's some great guitar work! I love watching Ron go!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAZING!!!!
UTA chingón,!!!
Wish there were more live videos of this song online, love the solo
Thank you for focusing on Greg Ham playing the guitar solo . This song is so energetic that is transcends into the audience applauding for more . The guitar solo is incredible 🎶 👏🏻👏🏻
Ron Strykert is the one playing the solo
@@rayceristau4748 thank you for the correct info . I definitely have to give credit where credit is due. The guitar solo 🎸 is amazing , Ron Strykert masters the fretboard on this Guitar solo. He could have definitely been playing in a heavy metal band. My hats off to his guitar work 🙌🏻🙌🏻
a truly excellent band
Thanks for this video. The official one has excessive footage of Colin doing almost nothing while the rest of the band rocks it all.
I know the clip you're referring to and that was one of the reasons why I uploaded this video. :-)
@@daveidmarx8296 if it wasn't for this video, I would never know that Ron uses tapping on his solo. Cheers!
@@daveidmarx8296 I have to learn this guitar solo for my covers band, so THANK YOU!
