We’ve got Mat in the all-new BMW M3 Touring, and he’s facing off against the BMW X5M Competition!
So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the M3 Touring, it’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that can deliver 510hp and 650Nm of torque. It powers all four wheels and tips the scales at 1,865kg.
Then we have the X5M. Powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, it’s up on power compared to the M3, and is able to put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It’s up on weight compared to the M3, too, coming in at 2,410kg.
So will the huge weight difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Its basically how mr beast doesnt do that much of a professional and take them selfs to seriously. Like its homey i guess? tbh this is why i love doug demuro to. Technical things are too complex and aren't attractive to them.
One should check the break pressure applied by Yianni and Mat. Yianni treats the break pedal like a leg press.
Mat may not be a professional racer, but, he has really gained a ton of experience over the years at drag racing and it shows more and more with each race.
Yup and at least Yanni doesn't flub it every single time like a lot of their guest drivers do, the two of them are the best for drag races.

11.8 seconds is pretty crazy for an X5 if you remember that the original '08 Nissan GT-R had a similar 1/4 mile time.

Drag racing times are mostly just dictated
by power to weight ratio. So no, it's not really that crazy.
@@chrxx4327 yep. But I saw a funny video about tracktimes of a very short track. A g63 was slower than an old stock golf 3 vr6. Fast in a straightline but the track beast golf 3 vr6 demolished the bi-turbo Merc. Weight and hight do nothing good if you don't want to drive in a straight line.

M3 touring has been busy big time. But I think it's wise to do a Dyno test to see how much hp the car actually has because that can't be 510hp.... Bimmer, all day everyday
M3 Touring has superb wheelbase imo.
More like 510 wheel horsepower.
Pretty much the numbers they advertised is the wheel hp but claim it as the crank hp. A lot of times when on the dyno, they make pretty much the same or close hp to the advertised “crank” hp but at the wheels.
Its got 545hp
Even at the stated 510bhp it has more bhp per ton than the X5M which is more important that absolute power in a drag race like this, especially when considering that absolute power rather than bhp per ton starts to give more advantages with respect to top speed but the X5M compromises that theoretical top end advantage through its inferior aerodynamics.

Matt you should do the same car drag race but one car with 1 person in it so the driver but in the another u start with 2 people to going up to 5 and to make it extreme put suitcases inside the trunk because I want to see how the weight effects the performance

any current-gen M3 will do, they are all the same power
Look at current BMW dyno graphs and you will see they have a flat torque curve almost up to the red line. That is how they pull so hard. Also the M3 is much lighter and not brick shaped like the X5M.

What I don't get is if they can put a 625hp engine to the X5, then why the cutting edge and super special XM only has 450ish hp engine. Sure, it's a bit more powerful with the hybrid stuff, but even more heavier. It's still a lot of power, but for a special M exclusive var I'd expect the best.
I think the new XM has like 700hp or something like that.
There will be a BMW XM Red Label coming soon. And I think its V8 gonna have more than 530Hp

Love the stats breakdowns, but you guys really need to add power to weight ratio!
And thats why car is better then SUV. You will get better dynamics even with smaller engine and all that with better fuel economy as well. Add to it that most SUVs are smaller on the inside then regular cars while being bigger on the outside (except 7 seaters SUVs ofc) and I just dont get it while people buy oversized shoe boxes which are dangerous to its surroundings thanks to poor vieving angles and sheer mass of the SUVs.

These M cars have become almost too fast and crazy to enjoy them everyday. They’ve even become too fast for the roads here in the US.
Bro I’ve driven the E46 M3, even that one has too much power for a mountain road, can’t imagine how it’d be with one of the newer ones.
@@NomadJedi and the E46 is over 20 years old now, yet it’s still a fast car even by today’s standards, the new G80 M3s are just 500hp rocket ships. They do 0-60 in the low 3 seconds and if you open them up on public roads you’ll lose your license instantly.

After owning those cars previously, I've learned leaving it in automatic mode while roll racing is alot quicker. Also the sky was beautiful.
