  • asimplyfab.life/ The big question is always - does it work? And is it worth the money? After two months of daily use, we take a quick look at the Cadac 2 Cook 2 Pro camping stove.
    It is a 2-burner gas stove with a push-button piezo spark ignition in a fairly lightweight housing. Added to the two grids for your kettle or pans are two cast iron grill plates - a flat plate and a ribbed grill. These are ideal for toasting, grilling meat or even frying an egg...
    Let's take a closer look and see how our time with the 2 Cook 2 Pro has panned out (pun intended)...

    Great idea to put the griddle plate on the hob to diffuse the heat for cooking food that needs to simmer on a low heat for a longer period of time. Thank you for sharing your experience. 😊

    I love, love, love this cooker plate 🙏🏼😎 it has enabled some pretty delish meals every day for 7-months (so far). There have been 2 moments when it didn’t work: 1) ran out of gas in the bottle 🤪🤣 2) overzealous cleaning around the pit and water got in. After it dried out, no probs 😅

    Smart cooker, I hope the piezo will last a long time, they are usually the first thing to pack in.
    I specially like the hotplate and grill add ons, and as you remark for simmering, ideal!

      👍it's been a year now. Still going strong - incl. the piezo - with dozens of uses every day - kettles boiled, breakfast, dinner, toast etc. Don't forget the quick-release gas connector if you need to store it away separately (can get it from cadaceurope)

      I got it from cadaceurope.com - 'Quick Release Rotating' SKU 338-2 👍

    What gas bottles do you use? I’m going on a 2 week road trip and think this could be what I’m looking for. Bit nervous about choosing the right gas though. Last year’s trip we used a portable 1 ring stove and it failed on day 2… not very convenient when I came to morning teas and coffees! I want to pay more for a better product. Any clarity in the above would be greatly appreciated. Xx

      @ASimplyFabLife  Před rokem

      Hi, agreed, tea in the morning is essential to set the day.
      We use the 13kg butane bottles (not sure if you're in Europe?). Of course, you can also use the smaller 3 kg ones, if easier in the campervan. As mentioned (in one of the videos) the swivel quick release is a major increase in ease of use (not included, but can be ordered separately). The piezo ignition is still going strong, so no worries there! Good luck and have a great trip! Cheers

      The quick disconnect is purchased separately. You can find it on the cadac site 👍

    I am looking at upgrading my Campinggaz chef double burner with grill. It is a nice bit of kit but it is terrible even in the slightest breeze. How does the Cadac perform in the wind? Have you any experience of using it when it is windy?

    • @ASimplyFabLife
      @ASimplyFabLife  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, we did have some issues with wind with this one. It won't blow the flame out but you lose a lot of heat in the process 😬. We were constantly building wind breaks (chopping boards etc) and I feel they missed a trick by omitting these... The flames are quite exposed

    • @Hix066
      @Hix066 Před 2 lety

      @@ASimplyFabLife ahh, all sounds similar then. I did think of fabricating a folding windshield out of aluminium with some piano hinges riveted on, but hoped that Cadac may have offered a better design solution. At least you say it doesn't blow out. That's a step up at least. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

    • @ASimplyFabLife
      @ASimplyFabLife  Před 2 lety

      @@Hix066 I thought of the same thing! We also leaned the hot plates against the sides as a wind break - so there's that... Piezo unfaltering though 👍

    • @Hix066
      @Hix066 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ASimplyFabLife yeah, I've tried all manner of impromptu windbreaks. It's a shake that they don't think of this when they design things. At least they have a robust piezo. I think I may get one as they do seem a bit better than the Cg version. The hotplate for simmering is a bonus for low and slow cooking.
