- Accolades a-plenty have been thrust upon KTM’s lightweight Duke from its inception. It was now my turn to spend some time aboard the newest Iteration of the machine. Nothing has changed between model year ‘17 and ’18 besides a white color option for 2018. While my name may not be emblazoned upon the tank of this feisty little motorcycle, I can assure you unequivocally, the 2018 KTM 390 Duke is a motorcycle that punches above its price point.

As soon as I heard the intro music, I was ready for The Powerpuff Girls to come flying down the road
That might be one of the prettiest bikes I've seen.
Only goes 100 mph other than that nice
@@renerodriguez2940 Go for a larger sprocket.
@@renerodriguez2940 Why would you need more?
@@renerodriguez2940 You tryna die? Lol
@@renerodriguez2940 it is electronically limited to 100mph but where are you gonna go faster than that anyway? 😂
Love the aesthetics of KTM bikes.
another great video, keep it going.
such a great bike , KTm did it really well
I think I will buy one of these. I'm buying a ton of bikes soon! :)
Thanks for another great review video
I love my KTM DUKE 390
I've never rode a bike before and after some research I'm thinking this might be the starter bike for me
David Ogg Same here!
I have a 15 Duke 390, my only complaint is how horrible the seat is. Definitely upgrade that right away. Otherwise the bike is super fun to ride!
Get a suzuki sfv gladius
I would say start with a bigger bike you're willing to drop. Like an sv650.
Best to learn on an old dirt bike which you can drop & not hurt too much. Starting on a new bike will bring tears to your wallet.
Please more reviews about little bikes please. Indonesia🇮🇩 need more like this 👍🏼
I beleive this bikes there tho, its one of the best entry level.
Wow, actual good music I haven't heard on CZcams before!
It would be interesting to find the same features with a more long ride cruiser-like ergonomic design. Any suggestions?
Super cool
I aprove this video!
Big little bike! Waiting for the adventure 390 version too...
390 adventure hahahaha....so the engine can be rebuilt in every city you pass by lmao?
PeterPrism a 390 Enduro would be awesome
which is why they're moving away from india for building herhehehehahaha
Peter, you spoke my mind man! I'm tired of riding this in crowded Indian streets; I'd like the same engine on an adventurer.
guys hope someone answer my question , this bike sounds like a scooter , why ? is it because it has 1 cylinder ? does cylinders effect the sound of the bike , sorry but i don't know much about motocycles , still learning ...
Most pretty looking bike ive ever seen. It looks so aggresive
Damn it. I thought this was a motorcyclist magazine video.
I want one!
Awesome bossss
Which colour looks good on duke 390 2018 orange&black or white&black.. 🤔
Thinking about getting this bike a beginner bike
Was that bike experiencing some shaking in the front? or was that just exaggerated by the camera?
i want this bike sooooo bad
A few years ago, I was getting ready to get the smaller Duke 390. At the time they were selling fast. I decided to wait for the new model and found that was a big mistake. I am just under 5ft tall and the new model raised the seat height. I could no longer reach the ground comfortably. In my opinion, the entry level bike(300cc class) should have at least an option for a lower seat height. Thanks for the video.
Im also a short guy but I managed to live with it. Just be careful in the parking lots.
I'm pretty sure they offer a lowering kit. I think there is a suspension adjustment that they do and you can probably do something with the seat as well to get it even lower.
It is a fantastic ‘little’ bike. It really loves to be revved - keep it between 7-10000 and it will fly. Cheaper than the vitpilen 401 as well.
Wish Wish had one
Give a review of BMW G310R
Good bike dude. I did stunt by it
i like in 390 Duke
But... Is it reliable? Is KTM still offering only partial warranty on the bike?
Is that a Modular AGV you're wearing ? Would you consider doing a review on it ?
Sweet little bike, I wouldn't mind owning one to trash around in the urban jungle.
Is their a way for me to buy this bike and have it shipped to me ? I live in the mountains 50 miles from fresno ca .
*nice*
There are many things missing in this version compared to the Indian 2018 variant:-
1) near foot pegs of the rider, there is a new heat shield as many people were facing heat near gear and rear brake adjuster.
2) A cap on the monoshock for I personally don't know why they installed on the first place :-D
3) Handguards
4) Pillion grab bars
@shane wardz oh.. Ok.. This was new.. Any idea why?
Hi. How tall are you? I would say you are good height for this bike.
YAASSSSSSS🔥
Can anyone help me with the model of this helmet?
How is the riding position compared to the old one? I have the old one, and while my knees are very bent, the riding position isn't bad at all. Is it the same or worse than that one in terms of discomfort?
I test rode the 250 which has the same chassis and I would say it felt the same. The only thing that I felt different are the handlebars, which were more comfortable.
I wish they would get this bike sorted out. On paper it seems like the perfect bike for me. I've heard nothing but good about how it rides, and nothing but bad about the reliability. Bikes that are only a year or two old have parts rusting, paint fading, displays failing, valve's constantly going out of adjustment, and head gaskets being blown. I'm not sure I'm willing to roll the dice on something like that.
Josh Davis i too fell for it & got myself a lemon...well not just me,happened to know that a lot of the first lot bikes were riddled with coolant-engine oil mixup issues. Not satisfied with my bike😕.
Im in the same boat, doing lessons atm so hopefully have my first bike in a month or two. Like the KTM's but everyone seems to slate the reliability of KTM so think im gonna have to go japanese.
The_ petrolhead Wait, what year is your bike? A friend of mine suffered the same problem on road trip today. He had to get Orange Assist to take his bike back to town. He has a 2014 390 Duke with ~38000 km on it.
FodderRev mine's a 2017 Duke 390..same as this video.
The_ petrolhead This is disappointing. I thought they would have corrected all mechanical issues by 2016. My friend's bike just refused to start and was spewing white and brown smoke so that was a major breakdown. Was your issue that severe?
Was it the bmw g310r behind you

Can the footpegs or rearsets be adjusted to be more level front to rear like a dirtbike ?
Would like to know that too, but about up/down adjustments for taller riders.
@@impact0r i see on KTM website they sell a different gear shifter that says 3 way adjustable. So i dont know if thatvmeans the original shifter is also adjustable. There must be 3 holes on the bike to coose from and the shifter has a little peg that goes in 1 of the holes
How tall is ryan adams?
Wat about 2018 RC 390...?
Can someone which place is this?
That screen looks like it updates about 3 times a second.
The limited frame rate of the camera is the issue here. The tft display has very low latency
Wow
....Comes with a rear selfie stick 😅
How tall are you?
How much is this bike?
Linus Tech Tips gone badass.
Ya I'm getting a grom because Yeet!
Mojo jojo was driving ppg was on the way
Where is the ktm 390 smc r? DO IT ALREADY!
Big question for big riders... is this a midget cricket? At 6’4”, many small to mid displacement “fun bikes” are just painfully small for ergos. Would be nice to have a 400-class option that’s light, simple, fun... but it’s gotta fit. I constantly end up sitting on the liter-class bikes at most dealers because the smaller displacement bikes are also dramatically smaller ergonomically. People complain the Africa Twin or 1090 Adv R are “too tall”, yet I flat-foot them with my knees bent... and they’re barely roomy enough once my landing gear are folded up. The BMW F800GS actually cramps my knees with my feet on the pegs, it’s too tight.
Only smaller displacement bikes I find that are tall enough are all dirt bikes. So my question here is, is the 390 another bike that’s been shrunk along with its displacement, or is it reasonably full-sized just with a smaller mill?
DucFanDan , Its definitely not for a 6'4" tall guy. I am 6 ft and I feel on the edge of its ergonomics.
Pradeep Same goes here.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. 👍
DucFanDan , The KTM 390 adventure is going to be launched soon. I saw a post on KTM India instagram today morning. It will be for tall riders.
DucFanDan I'm 6'2" and I've been riding this bike for almost an year no and I don't really feel cramped while riding it... Probobaly because of the taller seat height.
What road is that in the last shot?
Glendora Mountain Road out of Azusa.
Thumbs up 👍
Cant make up my mind
390 VS 790 :( ?
Im scared that the 390 will Disappoint
Me From the Engine power 💪 PART ?
ANY recommendations ?
Thanks for sharing
Peace
I rode a drz 400 Sm wich has pretty much the exact same power as the duke 390. For twisties and city riding, its perfect. For highway and any road with long straight lines, It sucks. No power after 120 kmh, and if you want to cruise you'll have to cruise between 100-110 kmh because theses bikes have no heart on the 5-6th gear.

Thanks for all the information ℹ️
So this means the 390 is Definitely not for me/ I race on track days and after my accident I decided to try to Enjoy the Road and no more racing :)
But I can see that the 390 is not for me
So now I will say 💭
790 VS 1290 :)
Thanks man 👨
Peace
@@kamilf9558 the 1290 is overpriced and overkill. Some people like that 😂
@@VinceTheWinch
No i know it's over priced
But it's this or the 790
I totally agree with you it's too much prise wise
Then it must be the 790
Thanks for the information ℹ️ man 👨
Thumbs up 👍
Hi. What tires pressure is best for this bike. Anyone plz answer.
Look up the owners manual, the recommended tire pressure will be in there ✌
@@genicidegt thank you
Is that for a woman 1.65m??
Now if they could make a reliable single but then it would have no "character" like japanese bikes according to my neighbor and his Ducati
Try a FZ 6 ( which I own) or more recently released MT09 or 10.
had a ducati multistrada up to 40k miles, not a single issue.
Ricardo Rodrigues 64,000kms is nothing for japanese bikes I've seen cbr500r hit 100,000kms goldwings are common to be seen at 300,000kms and Kawasaki KLR 650 are seen with other 150,000kms. You want real mileage that is after you hit 100,000kms. But I will admit that for a ducati that's impressive. The only bullet proof ducati I know of is the 1999 watercooled 750ss since it was under power block of the 990ss but has made it near 90,000kms. However I will ask you this. Do you ride in the rain? Do you ride during winter? Japanese bikes can do this with no issues
MrSlowestD16 To be honest knowing that my ninja 250 will start ever time I turn it over is good enough to keep me happy. with a ducati I would stress myself over the fact that It could have issues but would take away from the fun of the ride
42much1 Yes I wish I could but since I'm 19 my insurance company limits me to 600cc bikes and lower that ARE NOT SUPERSPORTS. Like sport touring bikes like gsx650f (gonna be my next bike after my ninja 250) or a Honda cb600f
Aloha

Thinking about selling my car and only get a bike for work... i pass by the supermarket anyways so i can just buy groceries everyday
Do you like the mirrors? I do not! And I am not happy with the bar-end mirrors I have now because they are tiny....this sucks!
Looks nice, shame about this new TFT trend. Needles please.
Company says it's 44 HP
In my country, this bike price is 13000$ 😥😥
It got 44 HP power.i think so
Ktm make something around 600cc I will buy it today..
They hve had a 690 version of this for a while
690 or the super duke
could you please gimme that bike
top speed?

Juuuuunk! Can't trust this channel anymore
Seat height is a problem. Reason I bought the wife a z650abs instead of this.
Can you consider a KTM DUKE 390 which is a 373 cc to be a 400cc Bike?
What "DUKE 390" means if its a 373 cc?
It's the way the brand mate the 390 is 373cc the 690 is 699cc the 790 is 799cc and the 1290 is 1301cc...it wouldn't work if they used the actual cc numbers now would it?
Why do all motorbike companies lie about the cc’s.
How do they lie about the cc's? Are you refering to the model names of the bikes? Would you prefer they called it KTM Duke 373,2 or the BMW F798GS? It's common knowledge that the number is an approximation and a part of marketing.
so somebody tell me, why im the 7s would someone buy this lil bikes (390cc) i mean they are not that much cheaper and they sound like they are dying in the freeway?? to me its a way for manufactures to get u to buy small medium and large. and be able to sell the 600 or 1000cc for more money. i dont know someone chime in
A2 license.
How rider tall ?
It's 43 bhp
How tall is the blonde riding?
Is this better than the RC 390?
Tomim Deep Bhuyan, Itdepends on what you are planning to do with it....if u often hit tracks and twisties Nothing beats Rc 390 in its class....But if you are a city rider and still wants comfort and good trackability, more tech...refinement,smooth engine...better built.....Nothing beats Duke 390 in its class.....Iam a 2015 RC 390 owner.....
Aby Mathew Thanks buddy. My primary concern is performance alongwith comfort. I do track days and also go for weekend rides and decent city rides. Which do you think is better suited for track days? Ktm RC 390, duke 390 or the Yamaha R3? I am 5'11" and slim and definitely don't want to feel cramped.
Tomim Deep Bhuyan I would recommend Duke 390 which offers performance and comfort than an RC for sure. With R3 you won't get the instant kick feeling which the Dukes/RCs offer.
Tomim Deep Bhuyan, for trackdays it is RC 390 hands down, iam 5.8 doesnt feel cramped at all...even 6feet riders wont feel too tight on the saddle...Ari Henning has a track prep. Rc 390...But for extensive City ride it is not a good bike..it over heats a lot.
R3 is a good bike too....but if u are looking for a comfy bike with enough track potential...i would suggest you the new Ninja 400...
Aby Mathew Thanks mate
I think if KTM will make 2 cylinders world will burn
Stupid! Duke 790 p. Twin, yr ass is burning

Nobody wants to bring a bike to a dealer to be constantly updated like an Iphone...

What about the top speed though?!
Hahhahahahahahah nice ears!

There is a big difference betwean an aggresive bike or an agresive stance... Please dont intimidate people or mislead with these lind of sentencess
These are very expensive for service and has a very sensitive engine.
Wha about top speed
160 kph
this is bullshit you sit perfectly upright very comfy just get a better seat if need be
Why are you wearing my aunt's earrings?
Started watching your videos, very good info delivery and entertaining as well but the video quality just seems off, especially colours. First KTM video that just kills the KTM orange, also the greens and the blues look washed out. Please do something...
In India this beast is sold with 43.5 hp and 37 nm of torque
Those numbers are not at the rear wheel. Dyno one and tell us the actual numbers.
