I personally love the beer banter at the start of this segment.I always have a beer or two while I watch!
I´m from Finland and I´m always happy when Finland is mentioned :) :) :)
Better in hockey mentioned
1) Queen
2) U2
3) Coldplay
4)REM
5)Oasis/Blur/The Smiths.
Great episode, love the droll Lancashire humour from Mr Bray.
This is brilliant!! The only thing missing is Luis swathed in bandages...
Is he still swathed?
I finally thought of one....
Guns n' roses
This is the only Sea of T show that I watch without fail. As a ex pat who moved to the US in 1985 this rocks.
Disagree.
This was a total JOY, more like it please.
Thanks to the Saturday trio/ for an episode that was definitely 💯 % not Boring. Always great, great entertainment. See you in 2!! 👍💯
Sorry I was headed out as had to. Caught the show it was enjoyable. Gary catch ya along later my friend.
@@thedarkwizardroom / Jon. Have a great night 👍💯
unfair for pete to name two bands no one knows but its his show so whatever
@@garyjoyce2160 Oh I don't know may spot seeing ya at 8 show.
Cheers gents, fun show, some real killer blows!
Simon hurt me the most but then right at the end with Queensryche redeemed himself....nearly 😂 Stephen, really Rory Gallagher man that stung. Great show, guys, laughed my head off.
Great show topic! Fun.
Many thanks lads.
GREAT SHOW!!!!! ONE OF YOUR BEST EVER !!!!
THANKS SO MUCH ;)
Love the beer chat. Very good show.
Thanks dudes. Guys, my age, talking about the music I enjoy and entertaining the hell out of me. Great, great, great. Keep it coming.
Brilliant show as usual gents keep up the great work ❤
Great Show - more of that please!
Great enjoyable show guys 😁
Brilliant fun watching these three discuss their dislike - or perhaps complete disdain - for five bands that others might think they should like. Simon sharpens the stake and strikes the first blow and that continues through much of the episode. But one of the original mantras when finding SoT was and is "Remember, we all hear things differently/" But still these types of episodes are incredibly enjoyable to watch (and, in some cases, rewatch). Thanks to Simon, Steven and Pete for throwing up the targets for inevitable volley of arrows. Cheers, gents!
Brilliant, such a laugh. I always look forward to these shows.
Great show guys. Pete Simon and Steven. To the chat I wasn't able to make it as had to get fresh air in the warm weather and to with few things had to go and do so in and out this day. So many I could name, Do like along the Stones Hendrix Queensryche. Got stuck on loving their material and music. Not everything we have of albums they did and such that don't do it. Why there is rankings. Fun to listen and watch and observe. TC
Great segment
This episode was like watching those elevator doors at the Overlook Hotel open up in slow-motion, fucking bloodbath, but still somehow a romping good time. 🍻
Pictures at Eleven is a brilliant album. Literally every song on it is a classic. It's all killer, no filler.
I agree! I'm not a huge Plant fan, but I absolutely love Pictures at 11!
Phil Collins on drums
@@MichProgNerd and Cozy Powell, both are brilliant, imho, on this album, with the right songs being picked for them to play on. Saw Plant at Newcastle City Hall (UK) in 1982....can't remember who was on drums!
I think the first two are the cream of the crop for Robert Plant. I like The Principle of Moments a bit better then Pictures at Eleven.
It's one of his better albums. I also like The Principle of Moments and Manic Nirvana. I should like Now and Zen, but except for Heaven Knows and Ship of Fools, that album does absolutely nothing for me.
Great show. I always look forward to this show. I dig the foreign guys drinking beers and talking music is cool.
Hahaha what a show ! Great stuff boys 👍
Looking forward to this one guy's 😂
Great show 😄👍
That was brilliant 👍 ❤️ SOT
Great topic gents! I have three: Thin Lizzy, U2 and Cream.
Hi Pete and Simon and Steven great fun with you, this was so funny,I have some on LP 😅
Somewhere in a vault are masters of isolated magma vocals...
I hate the Eagles and Bob Seger. Not too fond of Skynnard either.
Many thanks.
A few off the top of my head that I'm supposed to like but can't get into:
1. Bruce Springsteen. Really tried for decades but, I just can't get into him.
2. The Grateful Dead- see above.
3. John Mayer- Phenomenal guitar player but cant stand his voice.
4. Bob Dylan- Just cant stand his voice. I like when other people cover his tunes.
100%!!! CANNOT STAND them as well. NOTHING. Songwriting, Playing, Image.
Springshit is loathsome. I detest him.
With you 100% - and I would add Guns'n'Roses. Love Slash and Duff but Axl Rose and his whiny voice is too much for me to stomach.
Bruce is a c minus the rest are f
Throw in Bon Jovi and these may be my top 5 unlistenables.
Was great fun watching you guys slaughter some bands that I love some that I hate! Excellent! 😂
Simon and Steven are killing me. I totally agree with Pete.
Thanks for sharing your experience, thoughts, about art that just doesn’t agree with you.
Love your honesty.
I'm not sure Pete wants to do the UK connection again. Man they are killing him :-)
I'd like to petition for a shirt from S.O.T that says on the front, "Steven is right," and on the back, "10 times out of 10!" Another great episode, guys! Interesting perspectives as always!
I 100% endorse this idea!
I agree with Simon on all his choices, but I have never heard of Pete's choices, I agree with Stephen on Robert Plant and The Black Crows.
So, we've got a guy wearing a Kiss t-shirt who doesn't like the Stones and the Who...
That's a fair observation!
Great show again guys 🍻 .I found this hard - because I can usually find some tracks that I like from bands that I don't normally. I don't think there's any classic rock acts whose entire catalogue are absolute classics.
I struggle a bit with Geddy Lee's voice .Jon Bon Jovi recently singing Always (Christ Almighty!).I like to think i can get into pretty much any style of music - from cheesy pop to classical, techno and metal - but I have to reserve a special mention for a band out with the SOT paradigm and that's Maroon 5 .I absolutely despise this band with all of my being more than any other band in my 51 years. Cheers! 🍻
This is a great topic. One of the fascinating things about music is how we all hear things differently. Even more fascinating is how over time a band may win us over. I’ll give my 5 bands I currently can’t stand but should love. And my 5 I couldn’t stand for a long time but persisted with and was won over by.
Can’t stand
1.Scorpions
2.Journey
3.Radiohead
4.Pearl Jam
5.Fleetwood Mac
Used to “not get”
1.Iron Maiden
2.Opeth
3.Frank Zappa
4.Testament
5.Spock’s Beard
Used to not get
David Bowie
Rod Stewart
Billy Idol
Scorpions
journey
Iron maiden
Struggle with
Beatles
opeth
Spocks Beard
Pearl jam
radiohead
More recent Fleetwood Mac not early stuff
I liked Journey when they had Rollie. But once Perry started singing I was done.
Radiohead I forgot about them.
22:18. A few SoT guests share that sentiment. Chris Alo, Popoff. I totally disagree . The longer the Dazed and Confused, Space Truckin, Machine Gun, Whipping Post, whatever, the better,IMO.
Not sure how many times I kept looking at my calendar thinking this was an April Fools episode. Must add, Plum Porter sounds delish! JT
Steven I’m with you on Plant and Hendrix like bits of both but cant remember the last time i listened to either
I really should like Tool, but I don't really do...(and yet I'm listening to them right now...). They've got everything I like: the prog, the metal, the long songs, the cool drumming, etc...but there's something that just doesn't click for me.
Cheers.
For me I just don't think they're all that. Droning singing, meandering music, bizarre videos.
I am a massive prog fan but I too find them painfully meandering
I like their cover of No Quarter, otherwise, Tool do nothing for me.
so overrated, they just go on and on and on etc etc
They have no hooks for starters...
_Very_ similar experience with RHCP and agree. Loved Mother’s Milk in ‘89-‘90 and then burnout.
Love Pete's attitude and explanation re. Rammstein, because all the reasons he gives for not liking them are exactly the things I like about them!
That's okay, it's just so much fun to indulge in these conversations.
Saw Heart on the Jupiters Darling tour and they rocked, very little from the 80’s ballad period, they were stripped down absolutely cranking it out , was quite shocked tbh
Fantastic show!! Future theme for consideration - favorite bands/albums to listen to when you're stoned. At the top of my list is the self-titled Quo album with the excellent cover - magnificent beyond words when I'm feeling "spiritual" but completely middle-of-the-road the next day. Love you, Simon!
Anything by Opeth
@@AreJayCee Quite so! 😅
Always loved this their best album. Never been stoned just bevvied!
@@steevenfrost Yes sir, indeed essential. Will forever remain perplexed why The Quo and Magnum never put a dent in the market here, even amongst folks who grew up listening to that brand of music...
Sorry, I couldn't do that show. Never been stoned in my life. Glad you enjoyed this one though!
Sorry I won't be able to talk to y'all for the Livestream. I have my party going on now! I'll be able to make it next week if the video is interesting. Anyways have a good show
Uncle Simon slayed it tonight lol, although I do agree about the Stones & The Who except for a couple songs. He got my jugular with Queensryche, my favorite band. 🤔👍
It’s a shame that Hendrix is not known for his lyrical content just listen to the lyrics of castles made of sand they are majestic
Hendrix is awesome
you can make a strong argument that Hendrix was the greatest artist to come out of the 60's
Good episode with some tasty looking beers!
Neil Young, RHCP and Nirvana get my vote.
Right! I agree! Talk about beer before talking about bands of suckage lol! Great show guys thank you! Simon - incredibly bold honesty rejecting the Stones, I disagree but I respect the whatever floats your boat philosophy to life and music! Bold opinion on Plant solo from Steven - agree a little but I do want to hear what Robert thinks is quality and yes I do not always agree but do often enough. The Led Z stuff he did was over the top good for me! Right Pete - the RHCP may be more of a Cali thing and I dig them but they are so much better than so much other popular music! I agree Simon somewhat about Queensryche - they have 3 great records to my mind all of which I found via SOT, but the others big meh not buying those!
Love episodes like this - some great contentious stuff. The only selection I’d really disagree with, as I do listen to them a fair amount, is Rammstein, but I enjoyed Pete, once more, dissecting them. Also, the clock behind Simon’s head creates an excellent beatific halo, providing an authority that extends beyond the potency he already possesses regarding the rock genres that SoT is known for.
Pete’s reactions are the best 🤣
I know I should probably like this band, but I can't frikken stand them....
Queen
They get patchy later but the first 3 albums are tens
I can stand them but I just think they are massively overrated
I agree. It's maybe the theatricality.
I never could het into Clapton post Cream,David Bowie, Springsteen
Totally agree. It's pretentious "musical rock" and it just doesn't click with me. "Bohemian Rhapsody" especially is a song I never need to hear again.
Poor Peter
I love the stones and Hendrix but i can get why some may not totally get it..... But heart... heart whats not to like.
Love always hearing Pete crqp on Magma 😂. I literally laughed out loud when he was recalling the album titles :)
With you, Pete, on Magma. With you, Steven, on The Black Crowes.
I dislike so many bands its ridiculous but nowadays if someone slags a band I like I just shrug my shoulders. Its all opinions. As long as theres a reason or two to explain the opinion rather than just "its shit" its all fair as far as im concerned nowadays. When I was young Id get precious about it but no one is forcing me to listen to music I dont like
Pete, I'm with you on Rammstein.
1:02:10 brilliant....
Someone should loop this.
Another great UK Connection. For me The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers (I like the Top Gear theme and Zappa's Whippin' Post), Boston, Gary Moore and Joe Satriani.
Steven, if you want to give Hendrix another shot, please check out "Little Wing" the live version from the Royal Albert Hall. I'd be curious to know, if you don't you like his ballads like "Angel" or "Castles Made of Sand" either, or is it just the wilder, noisier, more improvisitional stuff that you dislike?
Since you mentioned that you used to play drums, Mitch Mitchell actually has some groovy parts throughout Jimi's catalogue, Idk if that could spark your interest in revisiting Jimi, but js.
Some of mine would be Motley Crue, Radiohead(they have a few good songs), Foo Fighters(one dimensional), Sparks, Morrissey, (early)Gong, agree with you on Robert Plant, solo. Also Bon Jovi(too commercial), Dream Theater, Coldplay, Krokus, Marilyn Manson, Korn, and Danzig..
I've always referred to them as "Bands That I Know Are Good, But I Just Never Got into Them."
1. Bruce Springsteen
2. The Grateful Dead
3. Supertramp
4. Queen
5. ELO
Not taking it personally agree guys.
Pete is running out of daggers to put in his heart 😂
Agree on Stones and Who. There's nothing special about them at all.
I agree with Steven on Hendrix. Been listening to him since around '86. Can't do it. If I somehow feel the need to listen to Hendrix, I'll listen to Robin Trower. Never been a big Aerosmith guy dating back to '79 when I first heard "Toys in the Attic". I do like "Breaking the Girl". I do like Black Crows 2nd Album. Great Strat Sound! Magma...No.
Robin Trower is fantastic, vero underrated.
Rogue brewery, Newport Oregon, damn good beer!
The only Magma album I listened to was the live album from 1975. I remember it was pretty good but it's been a while since I listened to it.
More!
From the UK - like the Beatles - like odd songs by the Who & the Stones - but if I never hear either again I shall not miss them….
While I respect everyone's opinion, some choices really shocked me. Well, "shocked" may be a bit strong, "surprised", that's better. Loved the conversation.
The problem with Hendrix is oversaturation with a limited catalog. Odds are good that you will get into him at some point and then be done with him. Same thing for Guns 'n Roses with me.
I agree with you Pete about Rammstiens vocals not being good. I don't understand German but I enjoy Miguel Abuelo with Nada and I don't know Espanol but his singing is amazing!
Great idea, loved this. Hate is a bit strong, but for bands that leave me cold overall my picks would be:
Kiss
The Beatles
The Doors
Led Zepplin
Foo Fighters
I like some songs by the above but overall they leave me pretty cold
I don't agree with Simon on some of his choices BUT I enjoyed his thoughts on those bands.
I could easily make a 25 or more ranking list, but top 5 random for me:
Thin Lizzy
Whitesnake
Scorpions
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Any and all grunge from the 90s and beyond.
Then there's bands where a simple one CD greatest hits album is all I need:
Kiss
Led Zeppelin
Van Halen
Queen
The Clash
Man! Sonata Arctica's first four albums are amazing; from then on I just abandoned them too. I'm hurt, I'm offended, I'm... laughing my ass off with the show. Thanks, guys! 🍺🤘
There are two things that i tried to like sooooo many times, but i just couldn't: avocados and Jethro Tull. I really tried...but it didn't happen.
I like the beer talk.
But Rammstein? Nuts. Great show as always. SOT rules.
50.03- thanks Pete👌🙏
A great conversation. Music taste is so subjective and there is nothing right or wrong here. Like my rock friends can’t understand why I don’t like Iron Maiden, but to me it sounds like being on the horse track and listening to the horses galloping with someone screaming on top of that, but I absolutely love Bruce Dickinson solo records. All of them are amazing.
1 Aerosmith
2 Eric Clapton
3 Motley Crue
4 Red Hot Chili Peppers
5 Steel Panther
Eric Clapton solo albums...so boring...
@@mutant_blues 100% agree, dull as anything I've ever listened to!
Good list of 🗑️
Once Eric and Cream dissolved he lost his appeal.
@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 Only other thing I liked was Derek and the Dominoes
Bizarre ! The only band I liked in the whole list was Queensryche, though Fish was mentioned 🤣🤣🤣
when you get older no reason to argue about stuff you dont like its just a waste of your energy i only care about stuff i like
Listening to a Mars volta album now or booking a painful and costly visit to the dentist?....hmmm...tues 9.30? Right-o, ill be there...
I found this episode fun! I really like some of the artists like Hendrix and The Who. There are some I don't care for or never really listened to much I can't fully judge. For example, as great as they are, I never really got into AC/DC or Bruce Springsteen, just to name a couple.
For me, it’s The Doors, Pink Floyd and U2
Love this topic Gents 👍 for all my tastes I have tried and tried to "get" Bruce Springsteen, however I just cannot. That's the one that comes to mind for me instantly. I agree with the Stones by the way Simon. Don't mind the music but Jagger is bloody horrendous. Massively iconic, but not for me.
I feel exactly the same about Springsteen. I just can't get into him. I feel the same about the Grateful Dead. Just can't get into them. John Mayer is another one. Phenomenal guitar player just can't stand his voice.
@@petebrown3715 Have to agree on all 3 there, not fans of them either. I laughed out loud at the end here where it turns out there's a Springsteen show coming up in a fortnight 🤣 I'll be watching as always regardless, but I can't see it changing my mind about the music of his lol. Must admit I thought Queensryche would be right up Uncle Simons street, that one surprised me a tad (love QR myself although I could do without hearing Silent Lucidity ever again - it is pretty awful for their standards but everyone was doing the ballad thing at one time I guess).
Remember buying the “Fight” album to give Rob some support. Played it once and threw it straight in the bin! Fool me once etc same thing happened with “2wo”. Third time was a charm with “Resurrection”.
21:57 Pete is considering wheter or not he wants the uk-connection to continue
Yep,dissing the freaking Stones, and The Who,WTF????
It's Led Zeppelin for me...
@@LarryFleetwood8675it’s Led Zeppelin for Simon as well
Agree about Rammstein, Korpiklani, Magma and Sonata. All the other 11 acts are great IMO :)
