Directors in Hollywood.. "An English period movie? Time to call Kiera Knightly".
LOL
Hmmm... Well, Time to teach you french writers uh. (Yup, Colette is french, surprise ! )
TheDodrey calm down it's just a joke
@@maiali5362 if you say so... :)
she actually chooses them herself, i quite like it.
Queen of period films
I'll never get tired of seeing her in them!
Hands down.
She does it so well, she's my queen
Pride & Prejudice, Anna Karenina, The Duchess, The Atonement, The Edge of Love, A Dangerous Mind, Pirates of the Carribean trilogy & now Colette. She truly is queen.
I think Kate Winslet does too. But in different decades. I like both so much, UK has a lot of great actresses.
Keira Knightly and history!!! Always a perfectionist in such roles.
love all the homophobes in the comment section. the real colette did in fact have romantic relationships with multiple women. did you think gay people didn't exist before 1969?
Noa Harriott never heard of colette actually
Typical over exaggeration as usual.
@@TheGiantNoodle lol you're dumb
love this comment sm
Christ alive the toxicity in this thread. Why do y'all care so much about who's fucking who? What made it your problem?
"Your jealousy is misplaced."
"How so?"
"It was the wife I found interesting."
DAYUUUUM XD yeassss queeen!!!!
I see keira knightly I click..
Ankita raj SO TRUE!!!!!!
My girl Keira slaying a historical role once again! 😍😍😍 I'd love to see her in something like Domino, Grow Up and Bend it like Beckham again though. 😂😂😂
So, French characters being played as British characters? I guess that's what's called an artistic choice.
Rama Garcia Yeah, I kinda forgot about that somehow 😂😂 My favourite non historical Keira movie is Bend it like Beckham though ^^
i cant stand her
she is always the same in every movie
OMG I just realised it was her in Bend it like Beckham thanks to your comment !! 😂
91clarie she has a 2014 film called Laggies it's on Netflix. Its a comedy/coming of age (sorta) film.
To me Keira Knightly is like the female versión of Keanu Reeves, she is humble, honest and kind
Asylum99 They should do a movie together. They might hit it off and become the couple known as KK lol..
Mr. & Mrs. Smith Reloaded
Oh my goodness... your sentence left me awe, in a good way.
Except Keira knightly is good at acting. So there’s a key difference.
Mr & Mrs. Smith Revolution
Throughout all the levels of management trailers must go through before being released I cannot fathom how no one ever says "Uhh Bob, why are we showing the whole movie in the trailer?"
lol.....they must all have Bob syndrome....it's a trailer epidemic and we need to be worried.
You know the sad part? Just like writers who publish through houses almost never have any say about their covers or descriptions, the people making the movie generally have no control over how its marketed, including the trailer. The trailers are made by completely separate businesses and approved by the studio.
We didn't though. We only got about 3 seconds of potential lesbian action
I'm always impressed when I see Keira envelop herself within a role, she becomes her character so naturally. Patiently waiting to see this film.
Shots every time you see "Keira Knightley in her most memorable role" in every movie trailer
Finally Keira is back...
every role she has done, she deserves an Oscar for that
112r she hasn’t gotten an oscar?!
@@arabella4865 No she hasn't, but she was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice.
my gentle lesbian heart isn't strong enough to handle keira knightly in that claudine haircut
😂im not even gay and l see were your coming from there
Ew
Same here! haha
Keira knightly even looking at a girl that way makes me shake.
Keira Knightley is AMAZING 😍😍😍
Oscar for Keira!!!😍😍🤞🏼🤞🏼
Basically between her Sairose Ronan
sorry but Saiorse is on the boat too
Gonzalo Arvietti sorry but I don’t think that Saoirse will be nominated. She looks terrible in Mary, Queen of Scots
we'll see
Saiorse was the promise of the past nominations and shes again the favorite as Margot Robbie
Its Glenn Close's year.
Keira Knightley played her historical movies parts to perfection. She is the strong back that's got to carry the movie.
Wow amazing keira knightley 😍 she deserves oscar
...just for being Keira Knightley !
everyone in the comment section be like "here for keira, love knightly" and I'm here like ELEANOR TOMLINSON!!!!
Mehak Raza BOTH!
ME TOO!!! Demelzaaaaaa
Amen to that, loved her in Poldark.
Claudine, Mary Shelley and Margarette Keane
And a lot of others we are just finding out about. Like that woman scientist that discovered pulsars and "Oh, she was just the secretary." In fact, Madame Curie got that kind of BS - people thinking her husband did it all and just gave her credit 'cause he loved her.
@@ksol1460tv I agree with you! Marie Curie is the first great scientific woman in history! Legendary and deserves to be much more recognized ...
I was already too invested after the first minute and then they made it gay I died
Colette had male and female lovers. She was woke AF
This comment made my day😂😂
Um, Zoey 7 sweetie? THEY didn’t MAKE this REAL PERSON bisexual. Bi women & lesbians been here since before the God of Abraham....
rukeyser I'm sure Zoe 7 was talking about the movie.
it's not gay. She was bisexual. She had 3 husbands
An English speaking film about one of the greatest female French writer of the (early) twentieth century , it's like watching a film in French on Shakespeare. There's something odd about it.
The English rediscover that they are historically a little French .... the motto of the British monarchy proves "Dieu est mon droit" and also the most important order of the British chivalry "honni soit qui mal y pense".
An Englishman who denies this is not true English ....
Wow....this trailer gave me chills. Gorgeous. Great roles for all involved.
All hail The Queen, First of her kind, slayer of period dramas and deserver of an Academy Award, Keira Knightley
I visited the house where she grew up a week ago (Saint-Sauveur en Puisaye), what a childhood and what a life she had after! I love Keira as always!
Keira Knightley is one of my favorite actresses and she appears fantastic in this film! This makes me intrigued to read Colette's novels. This story really is an honest and human tribute to the criticism, unacknowledged, resilient and defiant female authors in History.
Keira is my FAVE actress of all time. I’m a sucker for history so I adore period dramas, and no human can slay a period drama than Queen Keira❤️🔥!
Love Colette. "Cheri and the last of Cheri." Brilliant novel. Great cast. Dominic West, wow.
I love Keira Knightley period films.
That Keira Knightley. Few actors can match her mastery of period roles. It's extraordinary watching her illuminate the inner lives of women from another time and place. Talk about a superpower. Cannot wait...
I LOVE Keira! She forever slays any role. Cannot wait to see this!
Can't wait to see this. Keira Knightley excels in everything she does. Smart, witty, beautiful, super talented...a very underrated actress. I feel an Oscar coming on.
I think the brits will dominate this year's Oscar noms. Keira Knightley, Felicity Jones, Carey Mulligan, and maybe one Irish, Saoirse Ronan.
Keira is the Period films' Queen! I'm loving the storyline, it's raw and true about how much women were marginalised in litterature but also women's rights.
How far is the movie going to take her life? Collette wrote 'Gigi' during the Occupation in WWII.
Keira once again! Totally LOVE it
Sooo... Big Eyes but for a writer instead of an artist.
Lilah E Noir I guess these kinds of stories happened a lot :(
That’s what I was thinking.
Kinda frustrating how this keeps happening to women.
Exactly what I thought!
I just hope they'll find a way to make the story different even if it follows similar theme.
Me: see's Keira Knightley's name! I "click"
Gosh!! I've been waiting for this for months!! Finally😍
her performances r always so beautiful in historical movies. this one really gave me goosebumps.
Amazing! A wonderful woma, Keira is.
This looks bloody amazing.
Kiera Knightly is perfect for historical rolessss

I see Keira, I click and yessssssssssss!!! i want to watch this already, I love her OMG!!
I'm already loving this♥️
Looks fantastic. Keira always is 👌
20gayteen just keeps on giving
Go read everything by and about Colette, this movie looks pretty good, but nothing compares to the original real badass Colette. I’m glad main stream peeps will know about her now.
I wish I could upvote this 64 billion times.
This before the story of "The Wife" (now playing) who failed to ever claim her own writing but rather let her husband claim the Pulitzer' prize for herself because it was her writing. She never breaks free in the way that Colette does. She claimed her sexuality with Natalie Barney and Missy among others and her birthright as a creative artist. Brava
As much as I love Keira Knightley, I find it odd that an English actress should be cast to play the role of a French writer. I'm having a hard time understanding why people are not more bothered when they watch movies set in Paris, Berlin or Rome in which everyone is speaking English.
People hate subtitles. No subtitles means larger audience. People are lazy.
+Lorra Fae Agreed.
I went to watch the second season of 3% on Netflix & it had random English voices booming out, they automatically put adio dubbing over the entire cast! I couldn't tell who any of the characters were & I wanted to here the expression from the or cast, even if I do not understand Portuguese. I want to feel immersed in the original creation. Needless to say I took the dubbing off & put subtitles back on but I would be very interested to know the statistics of what other people choose.
Sammy Ariel I’ll always choose subtitles. In terms of films, if English people are making a film about a foreign person, it makes no sense to make it in their language - the script and the crew and director will all speak English...so unless someone is very careful to work with everyone else that speaks that language I don’t think it’ll work too well. There’s exceptions, sure, but it would make everything way more difficult, costly, etc. Just a thought.
Lorra Fae Sorry maybe I should have been clearer, I was replying to your comment alone, not the op.
I do not think English people should try & create a French film because unless there are enough french people involved it will not be accurate, similar to able bodied people trying to portray disabled people. The only way a French film could be executed well was if it was created by a majority of French people.
I hope I have made my stance clearer.
Sammy Ariel sorry, hun :) I was just making more observations, wasn’t directing that part at you. Sorry for confusion!
I love Keira Knightley so much, Colette great writer. I loved her in Atonement and Anna Karenina.
i love me some Keira, my fav actress
Her short air.

Excellent movie!
Oh goodness I NEED to see this ❤️💗
Keira is amazing
That moment when you scroll through the comments and realized that you missed the few seconds in the trailer that suggested something about homosexuality 😂😂😂
Mya Girl ikr
how? XD
colette is a famous lesbian writer and if you didnt know that before watching the trailer, well now you know
Famous bisexual* writer ^^ and I'm so thrilled for this film !
I remember the last French adaptation echoed a bit in atmosphere the tragic death of the main actress, Marie Trintignant, who died during the shooting of the movie by her compagnon of the time.
He got away with it, too. I couldn't believe it.
Can't wait to watch.
Just give Keira an oscar for best actress already!!!!!!!
finally another movie with Keira Knightley in a movie like this
Excited to watch this
I love her
I love it!
It looks amazing! I can't wait!
