- Finally the blue thermals left us and we got cloudy weather, unfortunately a little bit too cloudy in the beginning. But during the afternoon the cloud layer formed nice looking Cumulus and created quite good racing weather. In the end of the day it was clear: The first 5 ranked pilots in club class were faster than standard / 15 m class. I flew on third place with 96 kph average during todays 2 hours Assigned Area Task, my team mate Uwe finished on fourth position.

WGC2021 - Věda a technologie
it is nice to be able to follow you on the WGC Live Stream. Who knew that this is possible and exciting to watch. But your actual videos of your personal experience here, are the creme de la creme, of gliding! Thanks a bunch.
Very nice that you still find the time to create content during a WC. So far the weather has been very weak for this part of France but the last two days look promising. I'm of course supporting the dutch team but still wish you the best of luck .
Nice flight Stefan! Thumbs up!
Schaue Deine Videos immer wieder gerne Stefan!
Thats so nice I feeling better after it
Stefan: your videos are a big inspiration. I'm currently taking my license, to be able to fly in competitions like you do, in the future. Keep up the good work, and good luck in all the competitions!
i wish u all luck and a great time
Tolle Aufnahmen, schöne Bilder. Danke für das Teilen. Viele Erfolge! Grüße aus Argentinien.

The ranking link in the description is not functioning. If you change the language option to U.S.A. English, it will work. Thanks for posting the stats, much more inclusive.
👍👍
I noticed Stephan, that you use flaps a lot when in a thermal.Could you please explain this technique?I'm not a glider pilot but I am interested........................
It allows you to fly slower without risking falling into a spin for example
@@fetilu0975 Thanks Stephan..................
Flaps increase lift when flying slower, in other words one can circle with a lesser radius = closer to the thermal core which is stronger.
Good pilots in thermals adjust the flaps settings continuously. When the climb is well centered in the thermal core, the pilot maximizes the climb rate by moving the flaps in max positive position. If he loses the thermal core or wishes to recenter to improve the climb the pilot moves the flaps to a less positive value to improve his glider manoeuvrability and when back well centered in a stable thermal core he put the flaps again back to the max positive position to maximize the climb rate by increasing the lift.
You must imagine that what I have described is a continuous process as a good pilot is permanently optimizing his/her climb in a thermal.
