  • Today, we're exploring Hessel Manor House close to where my dad lives. More than a hundred years ago, my great granddad worked at the manor house!! It was so fun to see how people used to live, and to walk around in the beautiful forrest close by. We also had a picnic outside on the lawn, and had a super chill day - so fun! :)

As always great video. Is the Hessel Manor House museum like an open air museum like The Old City in Aarhus except with farming and not city life? Ever been to the open air museum in Lyngby north of Copenhagen with farms, homesteads and small holdings from all over Denmark, taken down and reassembled in the open air museum in Lyngby. If you ever come to the open air museum in Lyngby it’s definitely worth a visit and you should also make video of that. Did you see the documentary on Danish national tv DR1 about the descendants of Danish immigrants in the little town of Elk Horn, Michigan, USA? They ate “æbleskiver and medisterpølse” for breakfast! So glad to have been introduced to your channel via less junk more journey (I’m pretty sure it was them you got interviewed by or vice versa a year ago or so - not sure). You definitely have become one of my top tier youtube travel and lifestyle CZcamsr. Maybe you can do this full time and quitting your daytime job some day if you didn’t do that already.

I havn't been to Lyngby, but I'll put it on my Denmark map for sure, yep it's like Gamle by but a lot smaller would like to see the LYngby one, sounds bigger:) I did see the Elk Horn doc it was so funny, they call them æbleskivers and it just sounds so wrong with the "double-flertals-ending".. im not into grammar but that one gets me every time ha ha:) I'm so happy you are enjoying the videos, I really like making them.. I'm planning our trip to Fanø international kite festival right now.. hopefully that will be fun:) Love the long and dedicated comments:) Thanks you.. ha en go weekend:) Maria

One Girl One Suitcase (Maria Storgaard) yes the open air museum in Lyngby is way bigger than the Hessel Manor House - there’s some 100 different buildings or so ranging from water/windmills, farms and small houses with historic gardens. There’s even a “railway town”. The buildings are from the 1660s to the 1950s or so. As in the Old City in Aarhus you can also bump into people dressed up in historic costumes. So set aside an entire day if you, Morten and Max ever decide to visit and vlog as the area is rather large. BTW In addition to the open air museum or Frilandsmuseet in Lyngby, I should also mention there is free parking or you can easily access the museum by train or bus - S train line E to Sorgenfri and a 10 min walk or bus 184 or 194 and it stops right at the main entrance. In the off season tickets range from one adult 75 Danish kroner and a family ticket is one adult + one child 60 Danish kroner. And in the summer holidays and autumn holidays period the the tickets cost 90 kroner for one adult and a family ticket cost 80 kroner. And children under 18 is free during the summer and autumn holiday season. You can also buy food (sandwiches, hotdogs, cake, ice cream, candy and beverages hot and cold) in the kiosk centered in the middle of the museum, but I highly recommend to bring your own sandwiches open or closed and beverages and enjoy them at the free spots with seatings and tables placed among the entire museum area.. And I thank you for liking and loving the comments: and for finding them and comment back:-) and you’re welcome it’s shows that you enjoy making videos and that makes it more fun to watch. Og også god weekend til dig, Morten og Max:-) Joakim ps looking forward to Salling rooftop video someday:-)

Very cool to experience history first hand like this. The bird must have given you a scare because it sure scared me! Max is getting to be a cute young man. He is sure going to keep you on your toes.

I am sure your dad would say that you were the same way when you were that age. He is a born explorer. Incidents like this one doesn't help to alleviate your fear of birds.

    Interesting and informative video.
Lovely to see Max - he has really
    grown in a goodlooking young
boy. Delightful to see Max and
    Grandad enjoying each others
    company. Special moments to
be cherished for life. I see young
Max is a good eater - showing
great interest in all the plastic
food displays at the Manor. No
doubt his mom Maria is a good
cook and he enjoys her food.
Also nice to see Morton blogging.
Here in Switzerland we have a similar place called 'Ballenburg'
in Brienz. Enjoyed this - thanks
    for sharing.
