  • how to repair a faulty trigger in The dewalt DCN660 nail gun.
    This is a very common problem with these guns, which ever one eventual has. but it is a simple repair that just take some time and a tin of contact cleaner.

    Thank you for this video - My nailer packed in a week before Xmas. Ive taken it to four tool repair shops in Glasgow - two places wouldn't touch it, one suggested I sent it to Spennymoor and the last one quoted £180 to diagnose with the fix on top. I fixed it myself for the cost of some Torx keys and contact spray thanks to you sharing your knowledge. Many thanks.

    You're the man. You saved me so much time and effort. Had a DC618 doing the same thing. Took the cover off it blew some air in the switch, and she works like a champ. It would have taken me a day to tear it apart and fumble my way through without you. Thank you.

    Nice tutorial Dean, wish you been doing these 7 years ago when I was starting out! Glad you cleaned out the mode selector, was hoping you would as that’s another common problem. Good wee guns these, light and powerful enough.

    Thank you sir! Every 18 gauge I've bought has the same issue. I thought I may be able to do something like this, but your video explains it clearly. I might have lost some springs without you. Much thanks!
    I've been through 6 or 7 or the 18 gauge Dewalts and everyone of them had this problem after a few months use.

    Hello Dean, Thanks for this video i was thoroughly watching it and helped me for a lot of things. Although i still have a problem is there any way i can send you the video? My dcn680 was misfiring nails i opened it and tried to spray dw40 to make it work and i think that helped but now it seems that i have abother kind of problem nails will not come out at all. It sounds like it doesnt have ebough of a power....?

    I am having trouble taking out the screws. Is it Torx 20 or what security driver? I have tried all my torx and I cannot get one to open and are afraid of stripping the nut. Seems to look like torx, but there is a slot in them as well. I have a set of security bits, but cannot get then down into half the nuts. Cheers ahead

    I have a one of these with a worn driver which i could replace BUT the roller that runs on the top of the driver is "hammered " I guess with repeated impact. This roller assembly is only available as a complete part circa £160. Is it worth repair or are there other expensive parts liable to fail due to wear. thank you for your excellent videos.

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  Před 9 měsíci

      Yea I have seen them damage the roller on the axis before. If you have to replace that and the driver, I would not be fixing it. Your springs will also be worn, plus the leaf spring at the back. But most importantly, if it has shot a lot of nails, the nail guide at the front, under the door hatch may be worn, allowing the pin to ride over the nail and leave the nail proud.

    Hi Dean, mi staple gun had the same problem, I fixed it right after watching this video, the problem is before that I tried to fix it spraying lots of wd40, stupid decision I know, the thing is now when I fire the gun, throws the staple very week, so week that the staple barely gets stuck in the wood

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  Před měsícem

      strip it down, clean all parts with brake cleaned, especialy the driver and fly wheel. not much you can do other than that, and it still might not sink them fully anymore.

      I used the contact cleaner to clean all the parts, then I fired staples at the air until finally worked properly

    I don't understand why dewalt still use a mechanical switch to mode change

      Had a co worker use my Dewalt impact the other day. The comment he made was how he wished Milwaukee had a mechanical selector. Supposedly his selector gets bumped all the time.
