Seriously, you got Tom Cruise in a John Woo movie making everything explode for dubious reasons while doing needless, yet very necessary, motorcycle tricks while doves fly around doing dove things.

Sadly there are people out there, that if they even get he was referring to that movie, don't get the the joke that the movie didn't come out in 2001. The joke has layers.
The scene where they're driving the bikes head on into each other and jump off and smash into each other at the last second is the most laughably unrealistic yet awesome stunt ever filmed.

My favorite teenage years movie. The sequence with the reveal that he killed his best friend followed by the dove sequence followed by the chase out the bunker sequence followed by the best motorcycle chase sequence ever, and then by a brutal final fight preceded by the most awesome superman launch from the bikes in midair? That whole thing, was cinametic action heaven to me.
This kind of video is what the internet was made for, well done!

Cruise hates this movie yet it made him a legit action actor and is the templete of all MI movies after(before MI2, MI was more drama thriller with lesser action. Becausebof MI2 success the franchise relies heavy onnaction).
This movies action pieces were top notch. That bike chase was 🔥. The mask intruige was a thrill too. Cruise was in his feelings because Woo made the movie a Woo movie lol

i remember seeing this in the theater as a kid. at the end when they are fighting in the sand, cruise is doing these incredibly violent jump kicks to the dude's face, no one cared, but when the dude grabs a rock a hits cruise once they all gasped.

That Dove is the same one as in Hard Target, blowing stuff up. He was also in Face Off, but was strangely well behaved when Nicolas Cage was around.
The dove was in awe of being in the rarefied air around Nicholas Cage's greatness.
This was one of my favourite movies when i was a child!

That was a good fun movie. Most of the cars used in that awesome chase at the end were like a few year old base model cars that people would have got as their first car when they turned 18. Me and my mates were of that age when we went to see this and we are like 'dude your car just got blown up by Tom Cruise' and 'hey isn't that your dads 4 wheel drive?' Good laugh at the time for us Aussie filmgoers. Great review as always Space Ice.

I remember being a huge fan of MI1 growing up. I remember the year it came out. So I was excited for MI2 naturally. I had no idea what kind of John Woo madness I was about to experience 😂 what a jarring difference in films. Nothing like the first movie
MI 2 is one of the weirdest movies ever. It seems to have been written and directed by someone who really wanted to shoot some kind of melodrama but lost a bet and got stuck with a spy action movie.

OK, no more drinking while watching Space Ice because "...one of his spark plugs was spitting" almost made me do exactly that.
MI:2 is no doubt one of the 'coolest' and most 'stylish' movies ever made.
M:i-2 was controversial at the time because it went down a very different path than the first Mission Impossible. Mission Impossible was a gem, and had cooler, darker themes and cinematics, and a more realistic pace, but the plot twists became a bit much. M:i-2 was in your face with action (even if unrealistic at times), was quick paced, and was filmed quite beautifully as well, but with a warmer tone. And Tom Cruise really brought his A game, even more than in Mission Impossible. Not to mention the awesome performance of Sean Ambrose, and the music was enjoyable as well.
I think Tom thrives on the action, reaching his physical limits, performing at his absolute best, and honestly performing at man's best. It will be a sad time when he retires, because there is currently no male action star that even comes close to bringing what he brings. His level of dedication has no equal.

Tom Cruise has climbed the tallest building in the world, raced motorcycles at Mach 1, held onto a plane as it took off, and did a 25,000 halo jump but the stunt that really gave me chills was the knife blade a quarter inch from his eye. Yikes!
It pains me to say it especially given I live within walking distance of so many of the filming locations and love many John Woo films but MI2 is by far the worst of the Mission Impossible films.
The scene when Cruise kick ups the gun from the sand, jumps, catches the gun, spins in midair and shoots at the badguy is one of 2 times I was in a cinema and the audience clapped. The other one was when Aragorn killed that Uruk-Hai in Fellowship.
I guess audiences in Croatia love creative kills.
This movie has one of the best soundtracks and OSTs ever. I must've listened to Limp Bizkit's "Take A Look Around" millions of times back in high school.
