- The Shaq movie 'Steel' proved to the world that flying and being able to lift buildings is nice and all, but if you can't tip over a police vehicle with your sound gun then you're wasting everyone's time. Thankfully, Shaq saved the superhero genre by kinda sorta playing a character that was never all that popular and most people didn't even realize was supposed to based on anything. Whatever, the MCU sucks now and this is actually watchable.

Fun fact: Steel is technically a DC superhero movie. The character of John Henry Irons is from the DC Universe, had his own comic series, is a Justice League member and has appeared in Justice League Unlimited and Superman & Lois.

Unfortunately, I was so tired from the days work, I fell asleep watching it. That night, I had a nightmare of him chasing me through an warehouse district calling me his precious railroad spike and demanding I let him sledge me
Now I get to relive that nightmare anew.

Say what you will about the movie, but the comic book character Steel from the death of superman storyline was actually my favorite of that bit. He doesn't try and pretend to be Kal-El. Doesn't make any claim to BE Superman. He instead takes on the moniker Man of Steel, makes an ironman suit basically, and simply says "I'm trying to honor his legacy and fill the void that he left, saving who I can. Nothing more, nothing less." Which yeah, I liked that.
I was more of the Eradicator fan, but John Henry Irons was dope

Bruh, I LOVE this movie. Had a VHS tape of it in French. Showed it to all my friends. Not a single one of them was impressed but I didn't care. Still loved it.
To this day, I can still EASILY hum the main theme.

I rented this unironically back in the day on VHS. I got to the point where Shaq first rides around on the cycle and that kid is like "Whoa!" and that's when I turned it off. It was just too stupid. It's interesting to see that it got even dumber leading into the ending.

How did I miss this classic back in the day? One can only imagine the excitement it caused with these deeply emotional performances and top-notch special effects. The script is obviously a masterpiece, crafted by writers at the very top of their game. Will we ever see its like again? Perhaps a sequel or collaboration with Neil Breen is what we need.
